Unfortunately, I expect Seunghan will never return to Riize. SM might have held out longer if the group had already been well-established.
I don't understand why people who didn't like him having dated or smoked couldn't just have moved onto a different group.

no. if this happened maybe later in their career he could may be, but since it happened before it even started, people (especially koreans) never got affectionate to him unlike they would if it happened later, so even if he happen to returns they'd still hate him 😞 it's really sad

I never liked SME and how they handle their idols' false allegations that tears apart idols' image. I will never forgive them for kicking Lucas out instead of investigating those people behind those accounts which were sasaengs. The fact is, many people still believe sasaengs over actual facts because they love drama in K-pop, just look at Woojin too who still got no apology and still faced backlash from false serious allegations. Seunghan's case shouldn't be about him smoking or having an ex-girlfriend (and lets be real many idols talk about their ex's in school and no one cares anyways), as he didn't commit a crime or anything. If the focus was on the livestream, many have pointed out that this was mistranslated and very out of context, but again no one cares and runs away with whatever was given to them. Honestly though, it makes zero sense as to why SME ALWAYS takes this route and whoever told their idols to handle situations like these which are very defaming and false, since it makes the idols actually look guilty.

You know at this point I really want K-pop companies to stay away from the fans. Instead stand by the idols, of course depending on the situation. These companies are letting fans want the cake and eat it too so often. These people have trained, waited to debut, and work hard to entertain us. All for them to end up with nothing and slapped with a “hiatus” a.k.a kicked out. I don’t want hiatuses to be used against idols, I want it to be used FOR THEM, when they’re stressed, have anxiety, need to recover from idiotic people online and/or idiotic fans online. At the end of the day, these are just normal people here to entertain us with music, game interviews, promotions and the like. Not here to have their lives ruined for stupid reasons.

  • @Nameless_mixes

I think I went off enough on Twitter. But yeah. I’m so upset to see this. The community has enabled such horrifying norms.
An idol misspeaks or does something that can be misinterpreted? They’re a (insert your favorite form of bigot here)
    False accusations? Believed without question.
Idols getting hate for having a love life? The company makes the idol apologize and face repercussions.
This is not right. This should NEVER be seen as right. I’m so done with this community and how juvenile, gullible, and ignorant it can be. If this continues, KPop is doomed. It’s already seen as the most toxic community and non-KPop stans avoid it like the plague.
I know I’m being harsh. But the community needs to wake up. People’s lives are being destroyed all because stans feel entitled to manipulate the trajectory of their careers. These idols are people. Not gods. And definitely not SIMs characters.
If people are going to cry for idols to be treated like people, it starts at home with fans to lead by example.

SM's biggest mistakes regarding Seunghan other than forcing him to go on hiatus as if he did anything wrong is making him apologize the first time and again this time around. Although he did nothing wrong, both apology statements are like an admission of guilt, so even though both of the antis who have been slandering his name and reputation both came forward to confirm that they were lying about their accusations against him, many people don't want to believe he's innocent because in their minds, they think that there's no reason why he should have apologized if he wasn't guilty, so he HAS to be guilty since he DID apologize twice. Other than that, the way SM handled this situation made everything all the more worse for him or should I say, the way they DIDN'T handle the apology because it should NOT have taken many more private photos/the IG live with Soobin getting leaked for the company to FINALLY take ACTUAL legal action, which, knowing SM, I wouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the day, they don't go through with taking legal action because when have they ever really truly protected their artists? I just hope Seunghan can overcome this and be able to return to the group, even if it takes him a while, and considering SM's stocks literally took a swan dive right after it was announced he would be going on hiatus, it would be in their best interest to actually clear his name, sue these people, and keep him in the group unless they want to fumble the bag with RIIZE.

SM always does this! Instead of actually taking legal actions, they send their artists to be on hiatus for who knows however long. SM enabled those netizens in a way. Every time there's a scandal, their only solution is hiatus but it never solved anything or made the situation any better. Dating in kpop industry should be normalized. They are all grown adults. Riize barely debuted. When, and I say when because I'm am claiming it that he will definitely come back, when Seunghan returns, his group mates would have already solidified their fans within the fandom. Seunghan will be months behind (assuming he is only going to be gone for a few months)
However, Riize was growing but Seunghan's scandal really skyrocketed their popularity. Some people know Riize through Seunghan and others support Seunghan even though they dont Stan Riize. I just hope that when he comes back, everyone will be ready to show him all that support.

I’m not going to lie, this almost makes me not want to be a Kpop fan anymore. S Korea is still a very conservative society, and I was never deluded by the rose colored vision S Korean media purposely projects to the world. What shocked me is how easily it was for someone to destroy an idol’s career and how fast k fans turned on him. I try to stay in my lane when it comes to K-pop and k culture. I am not a part of the culture, just a foreign fan…however since companies like SM are actively going after foreign money, I think it’s time foreign fans have more influence on idol culture. These companies develop parasocial relationships between fans and idols which is both an emotional and financial investment on the part of the fan. Going forward I won’t be supporting anymore SM artists, not because they aren’t super talented, but because I can’t get emotionally invested in an idol, to then have front row seats to them losing everything so easily. I feel this in general about kpop, unless things change, once the group I Stan now go to the army, I’m just going to be a casual fan who only randomly listens to the music and not get involved with idol culture.
These are young adults who should be seeking healthy relationships and making a few innocent bad decisions. Being an idol is not the same as being a singer in the west, it’s an entire package of someone to be idolized. So I understand the need for idols to be a morally good person in addition to talented and attractive. However these standards can’t be healthy. I would be interested to see the long term psychiatric problems that arise from the environment that these idols are trained in and live under through their teens and early 20s. I’m also hoping this young man is protected by his family because it doesn’t seem like SM cares beyond their bottom line!

I get the hiatus--if a supposed friend has been leaking my private stuff, I'd lie low too. That's terrifying, to know that someone is watching your every move and waiting for one misstep. He must be under a lot of anxiety and regret for trusting this "friend."
What's ridiculous are the apologies. Srsly. SK's society must end the toxic culture of treating idols like dolls. If agencies want to go global, then they should be more progressive than this. Their entertainment industry must evolve into a safer space for the ARTISTS, not the "fans." After all, it wasn't the "fans" who poured blood, sweat, and tears to train and debut.

I agree with you on everything, but honestly the vicious cancel culture in KPOP is absolutely insane, and even though the companies need to do better to protect their idols, it's never going to change since now they almost always give in to pressure from these crazies(yes crazies), and make the idols take the fall for nothing more than past dating, smoking, and joking with another idol!! Where does it end? Should we cancel BTS who drink and smoke like chimneys now, of course we shouldn't and won't, and it shouldn't be any different with rookies and their trivial past or current lives! I know today's netizens are different then in the past, but maybe SM should go back to that time and not give in like with Chen of EXO. I feel sorry for Seunghan, RIIZE and everyone else affected and hope they punish those causing this insanity, but "indefinite hiatus" sounds like a "Lucas hiatus" and we know how that eventually ended!!☹️

But with Seunghan, SM does acknowledge that his privacy was leaked and that they're "actually" doing something about it. I say "actually" because SM loves to lie about doing stuff to protect idols.

overall, personally I am just really sad about the whole kpop industry. Every ‘ idols ‘ are expected to be “ perfect and blameless “ when they really are not. In the end of the day they are still human beings, who is imperfect and that’s what makes every idol/person unique; they don’t have to be chained to the lies that “ they always have to do right & good & just one tiny mistake they are right away defined as to be a failure. “ every souls of these people are soooo precious, they are more than their talents, they are MORE THAN how good they can sing, dance, how smart they are, how beautiful they are or even how rich and or “ successful “ they are; they are more than that man. They are so so so precious, and whatever they may have done in the past ( that past may look like years and years ago or months ago or a week ago ) it doesn’t matter how their past look like, because they are still sooo worthy to be loved and appreciated like 100%. But yes just overall, I just really do believe that the kpop industry just puts wayyyyyy too much unnecessary pressure on these each precious person; they literally put them in such a ‘ high place ‘. These ‘ idols ‘ should not only be appreciated or even celebrated just because of their good talents ( which i am not saying to not appreciate their talents ) but really more like, we should appreciate their precious life more than anything else. Let us spread love and kindness guys, we must just continue on hoping that whatever may the results be, it will all work things out for the good! #OT7Riize!
