    (1) Songbird betrays V by promising the cure for both of them knowing she will only cure herself.
    (2) Songbird betrays Myers by guiding SF1 into Hansen’s clutches.
    (3) Songbird betrays Hansen by hiring an outside merc (V) to be a wildcard proxy.
    (4) Songbird betrays Alex by ratting her out to Hansen and getting her killed.
    (5) Songbird betrays Reed seven years ago and again by escaping to Tycho.

She's clearly under the influence of the blackwall corruption and likely cyberpsychosis (like Johnny says) when she says that. Basically, all of her most negative traits and feelings are being amplified much like roid rage. So while she does feel very betrayed and angry (anyone would if their plan doesn't work), I think her way of thinking is being strongly influenced by the blackwall corruption, hence why she says that with such hatred and in a possessed way.

Sending her to the moon is a much shorter endgame but I have to say that betraying her and working with Reed was a lot of fun. Taking on Max-Tac then Cerberus (felt like Alien: Isolation the whole time you were stuck in the Militech bunker and I loved it, even the one-hit kills and the robot coming out of the vents like a xenomorph was so good!) and choosing to either spare her or mercy-kill was such a struggle for me. I liked seeing her memories and the scene inside the core. Getting to hug her and then hearing her beg to die gutted me. I think the best ending is freeing Songbird so she'll never be caged again. Oh, and I hope Myers gets nuked.

    • @jasonalv7436

Idk why they made the "bad" ending so much more fun than the good one. Like, I think if they had made the new ending where V lives a much sweeter and positive ending, I would've given Song to Reed considering she betrayed you. V very selflessly saving her life after revealing her secret just feels off to me, knowing he technically gains nothing. Giving her away made sense to me. Song will live but she will be punished for her crimes, but then Myers would get what she wants and fuck Myers, no one likes her. In a way, I do sympathize with Song but I don't know her that well. Like, the bad ending where you get see her past worked so well because that's when I truly feel for her and seeing her dead or imprisoned by Myers is heartbreaking but thematically consistent imo. Saving her life after she betrayed you without seeing her side of the story fully feels off to me. Which is why I thought story and writing wise, the bad ending was so much better

@@jasonalv7436Oh I agree! The bond between So Mi and V felt more intense in Somewhat Damaged. It legit makes you WANT to fight for her even though you just did all of that planning and executing with Reed and Alex to capture her. I was hoping with all my heart Reed would defect from the FIA and pull off a great escape with V to bring So Mi to that ripper she mentioned. I know my V would've been on board 100% percent after seeing those memories in the bunker and the Brooklyn apartment for herself. It wouldn't have been too late to set Songbird free. Reed was just another Takemura. Didn't have the guts to do what it took in the end so in The Tower ending they gave him a dead-end desk job, left to wallow in regret over So Mi and V. Somewhat Damaged actually made me like the idea of V and So Mi as a pairing (trauma-bonding but so what?) as well. Like V can't just hold her like that and touch her face so tenderly and have it be platonic. But I digress, Somewhat Damaged is so much more fun, plus you get one of the best weapons/cyberdecks in the game if you side with Reed.

@@deusvmachina V and So Mi pairing would be.... very different from the ones we got in the base game.
"Reed is just another Takemura" is a good summarization, some people can't see it. Probably the accent lol. Also, I will always save takemura, I can take him cursing me any day rather than let him die, at least this way you're even with him, for saving you, but I'll never side with Arasaka, just as I will never betray So Mi even though a lot of us always thought this miracle cure was a lie from the start.
You get a chance to save someone who's in the same boat as you, perhaps even worse. Will you take it?

I don't know why, but I can't see sending Songbird to the moon as a good ending. Something about Songbird manipulating everyone along her way and getting exactly what she wanted seems off to me. Like it's not really what So Mi wants, but rather AI from beyond the blackwall pulling strings along the way to it's goal. Like with Peralez. I tried it as a second ending (after siding with reed for first) and I just can't feel it as a good ending. Not even because V is left with nothing, but because after seeing her flying to the moon I couldn't shake the feeling that I have done something bad, something is terribly off about the whole thing.
Can't put my finger on it, though.

  • @TheRoguePatriot

I was honestly going to pick her because I heavily sympathized with her up to this point, but just before this V can let her know that her plan to turn all the defenses on in the stadium will kill hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent civilians. Songbird just shrugs it off and essentially says "oh well, at least I'll survive". At that moment I realized that she is what Reed said she is: a walking, talking nuke who has a history of being reckless. Myers may have made her a weapon and she's just as guilty in all of this but at the end of the day Songbird ultimately has a choice in what she does and she decided to kill innocents without blinking.
After this I was Reed all the way.

I got what IGN considered the worst ending. I sided with Reed and then killed Song. Personally, I think this ending is my favorite. People say it's a bad ending because more people die, but I think this ending is far better written and also more fun to experience. By siding with Song, V gets betrayed by her and you either save her life for no reason other than you're being nice or you would give the traitor up to Reed who will save her life but she will remain with Myers. But when you side with Reed, you realize how dangerous Song is and how much of a hypocrite she is for calling V a traitor. You then hate her for killing Alex but you promised Reed to save her life. You fight MaxTac which is fuckin insane then the game turned into Alien Isolation. Then afterwards, you get to see Song's past, this was the moment that I didn't hate her. I really really loved her because of these flashback glimpse. A scene I thought was severely missing if you had sided with her. You feel for her, and then once you have to make the decision to spare/kill her, killing her is an act of mercy. It'll piss Myers off and that's very good and Song will be free. If this game had no choices, I think this is the ending they should go for. Gripping as all hell. You also get to fight Hansen to avenge Alex. It's incredible dammit. Anybody wanna discuss about the game? Please do. It's still stuck in my head for a day now. My favorite story in the past 5 years

Somewhat Damaged was great overall, from start to finish. Bar Alex's death and having to choose between surrendering/mercy-killing So Mi. I prefer the Star ending so I'm biased haha. There's so much more offered in Somewhat Damaged than in Killing Moon and as much as I love So Mi, I think my third playthrough is gonna be a replay of my second where I chose to side with Reed except I'll mercy-kill this time and tell Myers to go fuck herself. I didn't accept the cure from the FIA after surrendering So Mi because I wanna ride into the sunset with Judy and Panam.

It was my favorite part of the whole story. The spy action movie part was like a Mission Impossible film written so tremendously well and when Songbird goes Scarlet Witch, the tone shifted the moment Alex got her eyes gauged by Hansen. I literally paused the game and stood still for 10 minutes, just consuming everything. Also yeah, riding with Panam/Judy is the best Cyberpunk ending. I didn't like the new ending at all. In my opinion, the only "good" ending is killing Songbird. But look how much everything changes once you betray her. It's almost like it's not her. There are multiple occasions where she talks about the Black Wall wiping her memory. It takes those who saw the doors of their cage to understand how it feels to be imprisoned. Understanding that your only way out is a crapshoot. But then you find a different way. In this case, it was through the blackwall. Guaranteed death, but with a chance to live… no matter the outcome, you will be free.
Others found death itself to be a perfect escape. I highly doubt this was the way the devs made the story for, but I understand how it feels to be trapped. If those trapped act like prey animals, then Songbird was a sloth bear.

i believe the comments are from people who dont understand the situation of songbird. she is stuck between two options, using people, or dying to the blackwall. Myers forced songbird to bypass the blackwall and this was torturing her, gradually killing her.
she wanted to escape but FIA kept toying with her through scenarios where someone plays her savior while secretly are manipulating her into captivity. she is used to betrayals and she had enough, so she made a plan that includes crashing the plane into hanson captivity where she can run away, she contacted V, and later Reed tried to lure song by telling V he will free her by the condition V rendes song unconscious and bring her back, meaning reed used the same old trick he used on songbird but this time, he has V as the middleman trusted by song.

Sometimes it is said that betrayal, even if very cautious at first, eventually betrays itself. In the case of the Songbird, the campaign of this decision and the further plot, she realizes that she betrayed herself when she deceived everyone. And if we betray Reed, in the end we find out that we fooled ourselves by trusting our own reflection, when the conversation is about survival. The more you trust a person, the more he is tempted to deceive you. Never expect sympathy from your own reflection in the mirror. So this choice, betraying Songbird, for me, seems more reasonable.
