I bought a used Microcube about 5 years ago now, and it's my most versatile piece of music equipment by a long way. I played in a ukulele band, and used it with an ekectro acoustic uke for instrumental breaks, and it copes fine with that. I now play a solid electric uke in another uke band, and the range of available tones and effects is great. If we need full p.a. then I just put a mic in front of it and send the signal to the mixer desk.
I play electric guitar for a small singing group, and again the Microcube is loud enough, to blend with 6 or 8 singers.
I have also plugged a mic into it, to act as question master at a quiz night. No more shouting over the mumble of conversation......
It's been knocked over, run at max volume occasionally, run on batteries a lot and on mains power a lot. It just keeps on delivering the goods, time and again.
If you haven't gathered by now, I love this little amp!
It was my amp for a long time like 10 years maybe.. jams, little gigs in bars.. and it's now slowly dying.. so i will replace it. I have always loved the clear sound with reverb. Do you think the Spark Mini have the same quality sound for clear tones and reverb? Thanks
I’ve used this for 5 yrs in my semi truck almost everyday. An avg of 1 hr playing. I change the batteries MAYBE twice a year. Unreal. Sounds great, highly recommended!
That's fantastic! I have used the Boss Katana Mini more due to the size, the battery life is not near that good. Do you keep the volume low with no fx? I wonder how it goes past the 24 hour mark, either way, impressive!
Yes..the battery life is awesome
Have had one for 30 years! Great review! Was going to buy a Yamaha THR but you sold me! My teacher had one today as well. He loves it!
hi,it's good for play alone outdoor?busking?
I have seen in the roland website that it is discontinued..but it is available on Amazon.. should i buy it ??plz help
I took it with me during holiday. I enjoy it very much and over time I got more experience how to dial in different tones from Blues over Jazz, Acoustic to Rock. Swiss army knife that will still work when apps are history.
I have the same Roland amp and love it. I would consider a Vox Mini Go, but the Mini Go 3, which is almost the same size though slightly bigger, requires a usbc battery and does not have the looper. The mini go 10 has the looper, but it’s quite a bit bigger and heavier (twice as heavy) - and also requires the separate usb-c battery. I’m not completely sold on the mini. If the Mini Go 3 had a looper, it would win me over, but I am not sure about getting an amp twice the size for the looper.
it is a little power house for playing anywhere. used in a confine space, small clubs or the living room, i think it is a cool little amp. it all depends on what you need and want. it is loud , but do not think it is a wall of sound like a fender twin or the stacked vox amps of the 1970s.
Where are you finding these easily for 100 bux? The ones online are all like 120-150 plus at least $20 shipping.
I got an og micro cube from guitar center for the low of 50 dollars for the price of a pedal you can't really beat it!!! from that day in its became my favorite little amp I own I don't even touch really any others I have besides plugins it checks literally all boxes if you are looking at this amp definitely get it I've heard the older ones might sounds bit better too I'm not sure how true that is though as I only own the older one but keep that in mind.
I own one & was shocked on quality & crisp loud sound including using battery, great value
Just managed to get one of eBay for £40. Can’t wait to try it out, even though I bought it for my son.
Just bought the last one from Sweetwater as a demo. Unfortunately in white but as a beginner I’m not worried about aesthetics considering my Epiphone special ii already has a loose cable jack?! I think it’s because I was playing sitting on the bed and the way the cable sticks out it put pressure on the jack. I noticed it crackling last two times I played it. I bought a right angled Ernie ball braided cable which hopefully will help with the stress. I’m wondering if I could replace the loose jack myself… as it’s only 4-screws and maybe some soldering which I can do. I just want to jam and the Electar 10 amp is just terrible for any kind crunchy or metal sound. I don’t want an amp that is PC dependent as I don’t own a PC anymore since I’ve had my iPhone the past 5-10yrs. I’m excited for this amp! I played in the 90’s as a teen with a Marshall practice tube amp (Fender squire strat I got off my brothers friend for $300 all in with cables)for about 6/months and just gave up. My old 90’s Fender squire strat was definitely better quality than this Epiphone LP special ii but the fun factor is so much more now that I appreciate it more. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🤘
Glad you love it! The white is a great color, and I would have gone for a white one if I had the choice haha. Regarding tips, it's a very easy to use amp, plug and play, which is what makes it amazing, so apart from dialing in the gain/master, knowing how to use the tones correctly, there isn't much else I could add. Happy Playing!
Hello! What would you recommend this micro cube or vox mini 3?
Mini 3 has more features and uses USB-C which is huge, so I would go for that. The Mini 10 has a looper functionality so out of the three, the 10 would my top option.
What's it like for vocals
Can I play an acoustic bass on it?
I own one and can attest to the review...its one of the best practice amps I own, outperforming my THR10 and all other ones x4 x5 its price in sound quality and ease of use. It also gets the most play time
Really? I was thinking of thr10 and they plug in directly to an audio interface. Does Roland do that?
@@jamesbondaygee No Roland does not have the audio interface feature. Spark Mini does, though, which is as good or better than the THR10 in sound
do u use the thr app? heard u can get way more and better sounds
So are these discontinued? What’s the difference between the the *Micro Cube vs Micro Cube GX… also does it come with the adapter?*
It does come with an adapter, The GX is the newer version, lighter, comestic difference with grill, and perhaps more changes, but I am not aware of anything else. I would pick the GX due to the weight alone (have had both)
I'm seriously contemplating this amp right now do most of you agree it's better than the Yamaha thr?
Any comparisons with the Roland mobile-AC? Thanks
I haven't tried the AC to do comparison, but at this point there are a lot of newer options available that I would personally pick over the AC
What's it like for harmonicas
one of the best guitar products of all time - I've lost count of how many times I've recorded with it alone... let alone little rehearsals, acoustic jams and just mucking about. Not to mention working on repairs.
They have discontinued the Cube now why? Hopefully they'll make some more some day
Nice play !
i owned my very first guitar back in 2016 for about a year bought it at a pawn shop for 100 bucks. (for the life of me i cant remember what it was.. looked like a strat but it said epiphone) i bought this amp basically brand new off my bestfriend for $35... he wanted weed and i really needed an amp. he got it as a christmas present but never really learned to play guitar. after about a year i was getting pretty good but we we ended up selling our guitars and buying skateboards instead. ive been skating since mid 2017. im 22 now and just bought my second guitar this time i can tell you i bought an affinity stratocaster hss.. anyway it comes in monday, next week. i pulled out the old amp from the bottom of my closet and was wondering... what even is this thing? i remember loving it and thinking it was so cool. now i realize how much of a steal this was! i still talk to my bestfriend all the time and every once in a while somehow it was comes up. "remember when i sold u that amp for 30 bucks?" "lmao yeah cuz u were broke and just haaaad to smoke" we still laugh about it now.
Hi! Can I use this one for busking? I want to sing and use backup tracks. Is it good enough to start?
Yes. Plug your mic to the input and your backups into the auxiliary. Its not Bluetooth so you need a cord and output on the backups. It's pretty loud for such a small amp and rechargeable batteries go for hours.
@@robertnilson3749 thank you!
My m-cube gx oraginal DC adapter is 5.7V 2A, not 9v
I've had an original run Microcube since they were released, and it is still as good as when it was new. I have owned other amps, and just bought a Katana 50 MK II EX, but I will never part with my Microcube. They are also indestructible.
Can you imagine, I bought one of the original with the R logo, back in 2009 I believe. Sold it in 2015, at that moment I was still experimenting with tone and different companies and products. I sold it for £25 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢. I guess the guy who bought it was really happy that I had no idea about the value of it.
I have one at its very decent an usable especially at lower volumes
Loud enough for gig in small pubs
I bought one of these several years ago and it's my main practice amp. The sound is very clear and loud for being a 3 W amp. The clean tones are especially amazing. The downside is that, imho, the delay is too weak and sometimes with a backing track is not noticeable.
Delay on the old version is stronger. But that one has no extreme mode, and the rectum fryer isn’t quite as good on the old one. Classic stack prob a bit better on old. So they’re different but the same!
I just bought one for 10 bucks at goodwill
I don't think this is in production any more. I have a Micro Cube but it says Roland on the Grill. I got it at a Pawn Shop for $40. I supposed it is an older version
It's always been Roland .
Roland and Boss are both divisions of the same company , and Roland was first .
It’s still better than the Spark mini
I plug the Roland into my spark 40
No, it’s not better than spark mini! You crazy?
@@DadPlaysBass😅no you are, when ur into Positve grid products😂
That’s the gx
I thought the amplifier is no longer in production?!
I changed the speaker. Then it got stolen. Strap the things to your leg.
But you don’t actually play it???
how bout you play the amp man
Sound is worth more than 1000 words
