  • This video examines the tale of "John Stubbs" who allegedly had his right hand cut off for suggesting that Queen Elizabeth was too old to have children and should not marry François, Duke of Anjou (who she called her "Frog").
    We will learn that, all that meets the eye, is not correct and it is likely that this event is just a "tall tale" created by the bard featuring allusions to the Plantagenets and several of his aliases , "John Dod" of Malpas, Cheshire, "Robert Cleaver" (his phantom co-author), the emblem designer "Geoffrey Whitney" of Nantwich and "Julines Herring" his fishy alias of Wrenbury, and others.

    =======================
    The reference to burning Stubbs’ pamphlets in the Kitchen stove is a likely allusion to other aliases “Jacobus Sinapius”, who allegedly worked in the kitchens of "Emperor Rudolf II"; "Leonard Mascall" who was "Clerk of the kitchen" for "Mathew Parker" (Archbishop of Canterbury).
    It may also allude to "The first Red Herring that was broild in Adam and Eve's kitchin", mentioned in Ben Jonson's comedy, "Every man and his humour", spoken by Oliver Cob (the water bearer),

    I used an AI image generator to create the thumbnail for this video and it refused to generate someone with only one hand. This is clearly a “disability bias” built into the AI.
    I had to use editing software to manually replace his left hand with a pirate like hook. I expect it would have been perfectly happy if I had asked it to put a parrot on his shoulder!
