The funny thing is what Marcio is showing is actually closer to how Fiore says to do the techniques.

That's the thing, B&I is one of my fave HEMA channels, but they've always focused more on the German school of fencing (Meyer, I think?)
Fiore has a very different style to the German schools, focusing more on movement and fluidity, over direct action. Not only that, but Steve was acting like this is just a set in stone way to do things, when Fiore is more loosey-goosey than that: Use this if you find yourself in this situation.

Thank you for having us Lee, Steve, and Nicole! We hope we were able to help you and your audience interpret some of Fiore's plays! Come check out our channel if you're ever interested to learn more about Brazilian Jiu-jitsu!

Cool video! One thought about the arm-bar: I think the contextual difference between arbrazare and BJJ can explain the different preferences. Since BJJ is primarily used in a sportive context, it is advantageous to use an armlock technique that is affords more control over the opponent while also being less injurious. Fiore's abrazare, on the other hand, is explicitly focused on a martial context, and so the arm-break is a deliberate part of the technique (although not really one we can replicate). Physically disabling the arm with the initial strike would likely make up for the lesser control relative to the BJJ armbar
Likewise with the rear-leg takedown, context makes the difference here. While it is true that you can get more momentum by kicking out the rear-leg a bit, you have to remember that for arbrazare, the techniques were intended to be used in a full harness as well as in plain-clothes. One thing you don't want to do in a top-heavy suit of plate is to lose your foundation, especially when applying downward force. As such, you really need to keep both feet planted when turning the body, otherwise you'll come tumbling down with your opponent

Super cool. Grappling is the thing I'm worst at but also one of the most fun things. Seeing BJJ interact with HEMA is super cool!

This was an excellent video. I couldn’t stop laughing at Steve trying to roll. No doubt he should join Marcio’s school. He’d love it!

    Nice one!
Never thought before that a human has a strong and a weak leg though, always thought they are just right and left, or maybe just leg1 and leg2. I mean, they both do the same job (walking), how come one of them is strong and one is weak?

Well, you have a dominate hand, a dominate hand is naturally stronger even without condition and more use. The same applies to the legs. It's just how humans evolved.

Are you right handed or left handed?
Do you naturally kick with your left foot or right foot?
Whichever side you normally choose is considered your "strong" one.
