Cycling Track Women's Team Pursuit Finals Full Replay from the Velodrome at the London 2012 Olympic Games. -- 4 August 2012
Cycling is among the rare sports that have always featured on the Olympic programme. Road cycling, however, was not on the programme of the Paris 1900, St Louis 1904 or London 1908 Games, while track cycling wasn't in the programme of the Stockholm 1912 Games.
The first road event in Olympic history took place in 1896 on the marathon route at the first Games of the modern era in Athens. The race started in Athens, headed towards Marathon, then returned to Athens, at the Phaliron velodrome.
Olympic cycling was added to the women's programme in Los Angeles in 1984, with an individual road event.

World record in the final at your home Olympics. It literally doesn't get any better than that in the world of sport.
I was in the velodrome when this happened, one of the best days of my life.
The commentary is as dull as the event was spectacular. BBC commentary was so far ahead of this, as they used knowledgable people with a passion for the sport who told you more than you could see on screen yourself.
I'd be fascinated to know whether any team or solo athlete has broken their own world record each time they competed in the same Olympics. Team GB did it in each of their three rounds.
Team GB again in 2024! 😊
This could have been so much more exciting if the commentator wasn't so dull
Should have had a Team GB A vs B final.....would have been more competitive.
commentary is horrible.....where is jim ross when you need him. GB girls did us proud!
+Pardeep Parmar Even Michael Cole would be perfect for the Olympics, not really saying much though, but it's an improvement.

It's ROWSELL, you Aussie dork commentators, not Roswell.
Wow!!! You dont have to be british to wish you were there to experience that atmosphere...fantastic!!! LOVED seeing the girls emotional families at the end, as proud as all their country and beyond were.
national support was definitly there. Great camerawork!😊👍
These girls are crazy fast
Sort of two competitions really. Also GB's racing helmets were really stylish, love the subtle nod to the 1960s.
ROW-SELL. Not Roswell. FFS
Best part is 16:30 onwards

Laura Kenny deserves to be put on the back of a British Bank note iny opinion! Shes Britains Greatest Female Sportswoman of ALL Time! GOAT! Tiny Trotty just crushed the Big American Hammer!😮❤
I remember being in front of the tele screaming lol
marvellous
Joanna Rowsell not roswell
easy a class apart!
The announcer just made the event so boring
Why did the commentator say Russia against Belarus? Was he not paying attention?
Wow, life changing.
Comments have been blocked for ages!!! :(
This is why we are called GREAT BRITIAN!!
We aren't called that though
@@DanceySteveYNWA We are at the Olympics (whether we should be is another question)
@@reddragon3132 I was talking about the spelling
@@DanceySteveYNWA Ah fair lol. Didn't notice that
Wait Canada got a better time than the us lol

wtf... Australian and South African commentary... Useless IOC
진짜 심심해요
It's really too bad the US didn't ride the same squad in the final... You can see from the start an inferior rider was put in which was done for political purposes. She rode for a road team that was sponsoring USA Cycling. The final was quite embarrassing as a result! Who does that though, you make a medal final in the Olympics and you bench one of your top 3 riders.
Take nothing away from those British women though, they put on a show! And finally, couldn't agree more with the full commentator!
Erm, even if the USA had the same rider, Team GB would still have taken them apart. By far the best team at the games.
***** Typical American comment, how can they win against the team that had already got the WR in the qualifying round?
USA didn't have a chance to be fair. GB dominated the cycling just as the US dominated the swimming
B Madd. What a load of bo**ocks! Sour grapes all the way, face it! Americans just can't take losing! How many seconds separating the teams?
I was hoping the GB would overlap the US girls.
