For those sites you'd spend a full day, or a few days camping, worth the effort. Finding that golden campsite... we'd had invite to help make mud-bricks near Bendigo, and I asked if there were gravels, too, the techno hippies knew right away I was thinking of the Old Gold in the chocolate mud, as they are enthusiastic gold prospectors, too! On private property, if you're screening your gravels or mud, and you get a by-product, no-one else's business! Removing metals from driveway, footpath gravels - for safety, and for profit! Got a reason to visit Bakery Hill in Ballarat, I might arrange to do some volunteer landscaping. Remember, by-products! Cheers, G.
I hear you, I have a very good mate who's school yard friend owns a property near Dunloy in the golden triangle. His is a farm business, growing flowers. In his expansion of the farm. He needs more water, so in the process of building dams. Runs all the dirt through a trommel ( big one) and sluices it, as well as detecting as they go. Makes money on the dam build! It is all about using what you can to maximise the gain. The day on secret creek was more about having fun, showing my mate Rod new ground. Plus I know what to chase next time. A day by the creek is always a buzz, so thanks for that! Worth noting, the crevice I dug out was basically just flood gravel, so there were no great expectations. I also got to see my little sluice needs a bit of refining, so to get the "data" is always a handy. The Pvc Matting comes in a 3 Metre length, it does come in a door mat but the weave is too tight. Cheers!
