I feel like you don’t get enough credit for how great your pixel art is. It’s really impressive, especially since it’s not even the main focus of your videos! I guess all of us viewers are too enthralled by the awesome chiptune to even think about it haha.
One of your best yet! The way you allow all the channels to breathe while still retaining a high level of texture on your chords is terrific! Collab bro?
Thoroughly floored with how you managed to maintain the jazzy spirit of the battle theme while working within the limitation of 8-bit synthesized instruments. Now I wait and pray for Fog Beast battle theme ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
I kept wondering while listening how you would solve the drum solo, but I had no reason to worry. It's great to hear 8-bit arrangements of tracks that require such a high degree of creativity from the arranger 😄
I went into this wondering how the heck you were gonna handle the insane jazz solo sections from the original--and you somehow pulled it off gracefully. The way you simulated the portamento strings in the background were especially impressive to me, it's unbelievable to me how you have the patience to input all of those signals into a tracker, Amazing work!
I wonder how large the song file size is. Every time I hear 8-bit music.. I think it'd be small enough to fit into old retro games like the first zelda game.
If we're talking the files used in the consoles, then yeah, it's minuscule. But it's not something like .wav or .ogg. Retro consoles use a completely different type of file in their chips.
Outside of heavy sample usage, file size isn't often going to be a problem with music for these systems since you're essentially just writing a set of basic instructions for the sound chips to read and ouput rather than say, putting an mp3 onto the cart. The problem you'd run into is whether the cart contains the sound extension if one is used. For example, a Legend of Zelda cart isn't going to be optimal for this track since it's trying to output through the VRC6 module, which isn't present in that cart. To my knowledge, you'd still get the native 2a03 channels though, so that's something. All that to say, theoretically yes. There have even been a few Famitracker albums put out on reproduction carts over the years and it's such a nice way to enjoy the music.
