- Trying to keep things a little more simple in this demo and show off the mixing / switching sounds of the Verbos Electronics Harmonic Oscillator. Width, Center, and Spectral Tilt inputs are modulated by Pressure Points and a Malekko Noisering.
First two sections are dry recordings, the third section has Erbeverb on the sustained notes coming from the Complex Oscillator.
great sounds.. lovely combination HO plus CO
4:40 is a heartbreaker. so good
Thinking a bit about getting some verbos. Thanks. Nice sounds. Update. Got them all! Great video.
that patch from 2:01 is awesome
I love this video, please release the third section as a full track~~!! the JI melodies on the harmonic oscillator sound great. I wonder if it could be used like a vocoder, with bandpass filters going into each CV input.
Love this!!
Yep, this was pretty awesome!
This is one of the rare tech demo videos where the music, in the long run, will eclipse any consumer interest that brought me here (and keep me coming back, just to listen). I especially love the mournful melody at the 4 minute mark playing behind the more repetitious sequence.
Incidentally, is that the Complex Oscillator playing those mournful notes? What is sequencing that line? Beautiful. *edit: Oh, I see you address this in other comments. Still, what is feeding the uScale II that is then feeding the Complex Osc? Keyboard? Pressure Points?
this is so cool.
oh this is fecking cool
can you explain the patch driving the drone - is that the complex vco? How is it modulated and sequenced? Really beautiful maan
Very simple. Raw waveforms from the Complex Osc -> Mixer -> uVCA II -> Dual Four Pole Filter (bandpass) with Resonance at 9 o'clock. It also has reverb from ErbeVerb. 1v/Oct is tuned by the uScale II.
can you say a bit about what's in the signal chain for the section at 2:01? aside from the terrifying sounding harmonics in the erbe verbe, which sounds like a harmonica player being sucked into a black hole, the rest is all the complex osc, or am i missing another item - sounds maybe quantized too? amazing segment - thanks for sharing. this is where my favorite art happens right now - in people's bedrooms and small studios with painfully aligned electronics....the best
Thanks for the kind words. The HO's 8 mixed harmonic output goes into the Amplitude & Tone Controller and into a Dubmix channel 1. That is the channel panned to the left. Center, Tilt, Width are modulated with 3 rows of Pressure Points+Brains. I take the individual outs (5 of 8) and plug them into the Linix. Linix mix out goes into Dubmix channel 2, panned to the right. I'm triggering Quadra Envelopes to open the Linix VCAs and that gives the pulsed rhythm. 2:01 - 3:05 is Harmonic Oscillator only, no FX. Harmonica player being sucked into a black hole is the Complex Oscillator starting around 3:05, and yes, quantized by uScale II. I provided more info on that section in a previous comment. Recording is Dubmix main outs to a Onyx Blackjack interface, no multitracking.
Ace! Is that the Complex Oscillator playing those mournful notes starting at 3:10? This : Raw waveforms from the Complex Osc -> Mixer -> uVCA II -> Dual Four Pole Filter (bandpass) with Resonance at 9 o'clock. It also has reverb from ErbeVerb. 1v/Oct is tuned by the uScale II.?
really nice demos. thanks, been waiting to see more functional demos of harmonic osc. what are you driving the rhythms with, especially in the 2nd section, where it breaks on and off.. ? if you ever have the time to i would love to check out how those harmonics sound like in a more 'spacey' effected / fm/ ring mod patch .. or maybe i'll have to get one lol. but just saying, thanks again for musical demos!
Thank you. Clocking is Maths End of Cycle -> 4MS RCD -> and then I'm modulating the Rotate input (it changes the clock divisions with CV) using Pressure Points CV out. That RCD out goes to Voltage Multistage Advance input and that changes the pitch. I have the Erbe Verb and the Harmonic Osc sounds great with long tail reverb. I'll keep spacey in mind for the next video I do. :) Cheers.
This is beautiful!
What are you using for envolpes?
great, did you use any other sound sources?
No, I only used the Complex Oscillator and Harmonic Oscillator in this video.
DO WANT
