Sorry for being such a fanboi, but I somehow keep watching your videos over and over, and despite the repetition, I always keep discovering new things in them. Plus, your music has that rare quality of never sounding boring, again, despite the repetition! Thank you, and looking forward to more demos.
I have sent back the Intellijell Shapeshifter and I bought the Verbos CO instead. What a pain reliever. This oscillator is so hands-on. and easy to understand. Great Demo!!!
After building, practicing, playing with my modular over the past year: "I need a better sequencer" After watching this video: "I need a Verbos Complex Oscillator"
Another great demo Lucas! I’m really loving the tones of the verbos stuff, it really is beautiful, and you do such a great job of demonstrating them. Once again you have given me more ideas for use of the DPO. I really like the fact you share so many tips on creating your sound that are transferable to other systems. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Aaron ! That's the nice thing about complex oscillators, they are all different but they all share some concepts and with modular you can always find ways to tweak an idea to suit your system, you just need a couple of utility modules :)
thank you for your videos! After power watching yours and really liking the sound you get out of the Verbos CO, I finally pult the trigger and got one. The sound from the final outputs I like more then the final out on my DPO. Ofcourse the DPO also sounds fantastic, but I barely used the final out because it can go grazy way to fast. So I was using more the standard pure waveforms ... but thats not why you get a complex oscillator for. Verbos final out sounds like a big sweetspots for sounds I love. It's like on the DFAM .... Turn it on, tweak the knobs and forget the time.
I have the Furthrrrr, which i love, but I also enjoy the rawness that comes from all the Verbos stuff. I think you are super talented on animating short/repetitive sequences, thats the bread and butter of minimal techno, right?
Thank you ! Furthrrrr seem to sound really nice too. I love repetitive stuff, the idea is to make it seem as if there's a lot going on where in reality it's quite barebones !

Would like to see/hear a deep dive like this for Odessa. Not sure if this is a sort of product placement, so apologies for the off topic request. Odessa seems quite different than the Verbos CO, but it'd be cool to hear some lower register, beefier sounds from Odessa, as opposed to the airy, upper register stuff. Great music, as always, on your channel. Thanks for the in depth demos, and for the focus on minimal, repetitious grooves, etc.
No product placement of any kind here :) I definitely intend to do an Odessa demo at some point, I just haven’t had it that long so I want to explore it a bit further first.
Well Lucas, thanks to you I now own a CO, Muti-Envelope, Sequence Selector, Voltage Multistage and the Amplitude & Tone Controller ♥️ Having loads of fun making music with these modules!
The Verbos system sounds amazing! Complex OSC with Amp&Tone really sounds like they're one. Those Mike Parker-esque sounds are great! Could listen hours to that wobbling OSC. Btw, do you use a free running OSCs when you're making a track? It would drift in and out with the beat, but maybe that's what makes it special...
They do really go well together. Yes it a free running oscillator but it's rather easy to find a "cycle" that works with the tempo of the track. It will drift but that's definitely part of the appeal.
Helllooo! Are you using the old version of the oscillator? Or the new one? Besides the question I really liked your approach to the oscillator and the great sounds your get out of it! Best greetings
Hello Lucas, great video, you really got me i to verbos. I have a question in wich you might help me, i‘m planning my first eurorack case and i‘m not sure yet if i should go first gor the harmonic oscillator or the conplex oscillator. I‘m into techno as you are producing. I hope you can help me, if not anyways, thank you for your great videos, it’s a pleasure to watch them!
Hey, thank you :) To me the complex oscillator would be an obvious choice, it's more versatile, and also more useful in a small system. The Harmonic needs more modulation/modules to come alive whereas the CO is more standalone. Full disclosure I've tried the HO twice and never really gelled with it, whereas I always loved the CO.
@@LucasMarchal thank you a lot for your advice, seems that I have to wait then till the CO is available again.... Ps.:Just subscribed to your patreon, looking forward to see many more great videos from you! :) all the best Leo
may I ask you one more question: what would be your first Verbos modules to start with, what is necessary to start and what can be added later? Would a Complex O, Amp&Tone, Scan&Pan and a Midi toCV/Gate be enough to start with?
@@leonard.c No problem and thank you for subscribing to the Patreon! I'd say CO/Amp and tone for sure, then an enveloppe (I like Make noise Function (or Maths which is always great in a small system) and it goes well with Verbos, otherwise if you want to keep it 100% Verbos the multi enveloppe is great too). Midi to cv module if you intend to sequence externally. Otherwise the Voltage Multistage is pretty essential too.
@@LucasMarchal cool thank you, I expected way more modules to be necessary. Do you think a dram would be a good idea to get a dfam to add to it, as it has a lot of features my modules don't have yet?
Hey man, mind sharing how you use the Verbos Random Sampling and CV Processor? Would love to see a video! They both look great but I find it hard to get my head around what I'd do with them ahah. Love the latest ep btw!
There's a bit about the CV processor in the Model 158 video, but it's essentially just a slew and a few attenuverters/offsets. Nothing crazy but having them all together is super useful and leads to interesting patches. The Random Sampling is a modulation hub, I find the fluctuating randoms super musical for modulation.
Merci !
amazing mate! i have my eyes on the verbos complex but as i already have a mangrove and others oscillators in my case. been thinking to get the foundation. sound wise are they the same ? thanks for the video!!

@@mamakuproject The Dual Four Pole is nice but it's the weakest link in the verbos line in my opinion... sometimes I find it amazing sometimes just so so... I'am always on the verge of selling it but then I always find a reason to keep it. It's a nice pairing with the CO !
Hello, another great demo thank you ! one thing i don't understand is how you use the sequential switch since you pass it only one signal, i.e. your modulation, so are you using to clock the modulation on/off ?
Yeah that's what it does. The modulation only goes through when the sequential switch arrives at that point. You can watch the Voltage Multistage/Sequence Selector demo where this is explained better.
