Verbos Voltage Multistage & Sequence Selector Demo

- Here's an overdue video/demo about the Verbos Voltage Multistage and the Sequencer Selector combo. There's nothing very complicated in here and most of the patches can be recreated with similar modules I think. Hopefully it's intelligible and helpful. Don't hesitate if you have questions or need further explanations.
Here are the link for those interested to try the complex envelope patch :

Let me know which modules you'll like me to cover next :)
I'll personally put a vote in for Bark Filter! :)
Bark filter probably, focusing on feedback options or other neat ideas that its envelope followers allow. Same with the Delay Processor. feedback options, more complex signal processing ideas using other modules etc.
@@redline6561 i second this!!!! definitely how you incorporate the envelope followers filters and scanner... that would be brilliant!
@@richiesantana7628 Seems like the Bark filter is next. I'll think of patch ideas.
@@LucasMarchal what ever you choose, I'm sure it will be informative - keep up the great videos!
Man, Verbos should pay to you for these videos.
I want all of this modules now! Great sound!
Thank you !
Awesome video thanks! Nothing like analog style sequencers. I didn't know the tempo knob has that great functionality when clocked externally. Makes so much sense! I'm surprised no other company uses their "spare control" like that, or in any other way. Meanwhile, I started a patch on my "poor man's verbos sequencing system" with a Doepfer A-155 and Befaco Muxlicer. Nothing beats proper switching and gating tricks.
I've tried a few of those 4-tracks, do everything sequencer; I've never less inspired in my life. Having control on the gate length is indeed pretty cool on the VMS ! And that's the whole idea of the video, taking away patch ideas to try with you modules. A155 / Muxlicer is a super strong combo
Excellent! This video has been needed for many years now.
Thank you !
Love this sequencer! I now use two as a pair. Lately I’ve been experimenting with sending CV from one to the other in different ways. It’s full of surprises and tricks. Keep these vids coming please. 😍
I was about to get a new one but got the Serge instead. I need to try sending cv to one another !
Yes, the Serge compliments the VMS I’ve heard. I’ve been meaning to upload a video about the VMS for a while, but now you’ve done one perhaps I’ll do a 2xVMS vid..?
@@bendickson3486 Yes, please do ! I'll be sure to watch it ! I have a couple ideas for videos with sequencers as well, sometime in the future :)
Bark Filter! actually there is not too many tutorial video about verbos modulars. It's so good you made some! really like it and watch it over and over again. before, I always put the cv into the 1V/oct and it does melodic stuff but boring. always want to learn how to make your kind of minimal(non-melodic) techno, and now I learned! Thanks !
I'm glad I could help :) Seems like the Bark filter is next on the list by popular demand.
@@LucasMarchal yeah can't wait
also really helpful, want to see the complex vco next hahahahah
Great video Lucas!
Have you tried the Bin Seq along with the Voltage multistage? I was wondering if it could use the row B giving the ability to add steps?
For instance row B goes to an oscillator cv in, while the gate of the env (verbos multienvelope) is controlled / triggered by Bin Seq.
yeah you could definitely do that, or use any gate sequencer to clock "creatively" the advance input.
great video again, thanks for posting this. Even though I don't have Verbos modules, there are still many things I can learn from this, for instance: Multiple envelopes to the same VCA (I can use the OR out from quadra), works very nicely, especially with a short envelope on every step mixed with a longer one on parts you want the main "note". I'm interested in what settings you are using for the complex oscillator - it seems to be AM - is that a favoured setting for the sounds you use?
Thank you ! It's cool that people can get ideas from this. You certainly don't need the exact same modules to achieve similar results. The CO is 99% of the time in AM or FM, to me that's the whole point about it. I love both equally but might end up using FM a bit more (definitely FM in this example). The beauty about the Verbos Complex Oscillator is that there aren't a ton of settings, the layout is great so it's super easy to find cool sounds.
It was very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks, Glad you it helped !
Wow so cool & sounds amazing
Thank you :)
It is really hard for me to look at your system. I feel like putting my hand in the screen and borrowing some of your modules... :D
Darkthrone!! 🤘🏿
Thank you for the video! I’ve been using both Verbos sequencers for a couple years but your info was still very useful.
I have a question about clocking with Ableton’s CV Tools. How do you find the latency between the time your interface sends the gate to when it is recorded back into Ableton? In my experience the delay was so bad I could not us it without moving back the audio 40 millisecond after it was recorded.
erm multi clock it's the only thing that will help....
I'm glad even experienced users can get something out of the video. There may be latency but since I only record in ableton I don't mind. As long as the Drum machine and the modular are in sync I'm fine. If I were to use vst synths along the hardware it would be different. When I first switched to mixing in Ableton I was losing my mind a bit because the clock would miss a beat and everything would freeze, it was unusable. Then I realised I just have to close every other program and turn the wifi off and it runs perfect for some reason... But yeah the ERM multi-clock is certainly the best solution. I still haven't felt the urge to buy it.
@@LucasMarchal Thanks I’m going to keep messing with it. I would rather get rid of all midi and just use the cv tools clock. I still need to try using the CV Instrument and sending a gate out and compare the results.
great tutorial
Lucas You make a magic :)
Darkthrone!
oh yeah
Great Video thank you! I recently got a used VM and unfortunately it behaves diffently. It generates a gate out at each strobe input. So even no stages are active, I get a gate out at reset.
Do you, does someone know, why that is?
Thanks ! Unfortunately I have no idea...
Thanks för this!
you're welcome 🌀
Thanks!!!
Hi, is this the MDLRCASE performer? Are you happy with it? it looks like the perfect case but the price tag is steep, even for a eurorack case
Hi, yes it's an MDLR case. It's very sturdy and nice, I really like it. Never had any problems with the power as well. It's quite heavy though !
at approx 9:46 mins into the video you mention a voltage adder, can you let me know the name of the comapny tht makes the module, i can make out the company name when you said it, I was looking for one
It's called Add2 by Joranalogue :)
@@LucasMarchal thank you! Your verbos videos are the best, always re watch them, love to see you do more, thank you again for making them
nice video, are the drums coming from the alpha base?
Yes, just a kick and some closed hats from the Alphabase.
is there a cheaper alternative to get this sound?
a good option would be semi modulars. Stuff like 0 coast/0 control, DFAM. In VST Aalto is a very good complex Oscillator.
@@LucasMarchal Thank you 🙏
Can you close that case of yours looks like there’s no depth to do so
Sure, but you have to add the spacer first.
