- After a lap in AMG GT R, Lukas stopped by to show his new purchase: BMW E46 M3 CSL. Of course we wanted to go for a lap, but it started to rain. But hey, since when did the rain stop us from going for a lap?

A CSL going slowly is infinitely more interesting than a modified tesla 3 going quickly. That says a lot

Most beautiful M3 ever made. Yea the e36 and e30 are very populair too but the e46 is such a clean designed car. Clean, compact, relatively light and great interior. Love love love that car

This is the BMW to have. Even in its smaller guise, the 328Ci, the early E46 coupé is a beauty to behold. The face-lift models are not as well balanced, in my view.
There was a reason, why BMW kept the M3 on the old design throughout its entire production.
@@daszieher Thou are entirely right! --- pre-facelift E46's have real-man's look. And post-lifts ale so... imprecised.
3500 not light. You can def feel the weight but take a corner right, the balance hides the weight a little it’s very satisfying

Every time I touch this subject, my post-facelift E46 probably cringes a little in its garage. I still love it for its 3-litre inline six diesel lump, the two-tone interior in black-natural leather (not the beige fabric), the oxford green outside and its style 32 18" wheels.

@@KingzM3typeR Those types of transmissions struggle a lot doing just that. They tend to burn up their clutch quick if you do it regularly.

@@KingzM3typeR No prob. Ferraris/Lamborghinis have the same issues with their early single clutch paddle shift transmissions.
Isn't this one just a manual with actuators to be an smg box? Basically it 1:1 standard manual, so the clutch is engaged all the way when he creeps uphill, also the fear ratios are comparable to 1st gear, so all should be nice 👌

What a noise with the CSL airbox, been waiting for an e46 m3 video for so long!! One of the best drivers car ever made. Tons of following with these cars too. I’ve been hoping for another one since watching the 700hp ringtool video. Thank you for sharing Misha🙏🏼

Awesome! I worked on these when brand new at a dealer. Amazing cars, even a standard E46 M3 is a thing of beauty. So many people think they are a tuned up 330Ci. Totally different car, probably one of the best cars ever made. The exhaust noise is relentless. ❤️

I have an SMG car in the family ! It’s an E46 330i MPACK. I love how the diff locks on the rear with every change. Only two cars were sold in Luxembourg with this gearbox. One remains 👍🏻.
he should get his airbag replaced at the dealer, still looks like the old dangerous one. They do it for free.
How can you tell its old just by seeing it?
@@tucchie2305 you can tell if you ever owned E46, the new airbag looks nice and matte, his is shiny and rubbery looking

It is very brave to drive such a car in to a half wet Ring in the rain, fifty-fifty dry/wet conditions are the most dangerous ! Respect !

Jumping from a tesla straight into a M3 CSL. Living life 😍. As i said in the other video i really like the driving style of the driver. He drove the CSL really well for the conditions. I would call it a fun lap. Btw I see Faby got the Schirmer M2 he was talking about.

Call me old fashion fuddy fuddy but I much prefer the feedback "sound & feel" of engine revs and transmission noises to silent mode EV driving.

Lukas is right about those older transmissions. They are much slower than todays modern gearboxes but once you get used to them you can work with them and have good control over the changes.

Always great videos, hope you secure another three year stint at the Nring. Say, as a non track driver, can you explain the wet line vs the dry line, and why it seems, you favor the wet over the dry at times? Thxs. Wish I still had my B5 S4 Avant for that track.

Reminds me of Gran Turismo 24h Nürburgring, in one of those Laps when i forgot to get a new set of tires, and try to hold the Position.
Yes Misha that was an interesting lap with a couple "Code Brown" moments LOL. That exhaust has a unique sound. To me it was a cross between a chainsaw & a electric guitar reverb. On a side note, it always surprises me to see BMW's in your video's. (CSL's are illegal here in the states) But BMW's must be higher quality in Europe because here in the USA, they're lemons (despite BMW having a factory in South Carolina). There's loads of BMW's for sale here @ about %40 of their original cost for 2 year old cars. But I will say there's 1 of the world's best BMW dealerships in Cincinnati, Enthusiast Auto Group. If I were to buy a BMW, my 1st choice would be a 2002 M Roadster.
I luv the E46 M3 CSL, and I got one as close in spec as I could get here in the US. It is such an great car to drive when there are no other people on the roads. Where I live , when I take it out I go into the mountains and find deserted roads to enjoy the car. There is a track closeby,but trackdays are just so expensive now,and I don't have to drive at 9/10ths to have fun in it. Im running Pilot Super Sports on mine which grip like crazy.

Good morning Comrade. As en ex E46 CSL owner I can tell you R888 are borderline lethal in cold & wet as you’ve witnessed yourself 🙈🤣. Original Mich Cup 1 ( which you can’t buy anymore ) or even the Cup 2 are much better suited to the CSL than these R888. Hats off to the owner for keeping it in the black stuff 👍🏼😎 and Misha keeping his breakfast in 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Damn right!! I only got those R888 cause there was no other option at local tire shops around Ring when i was there previously. So not too much choice for me. But on dry they are ok. You can go fast :)

The Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R and BMW E46 M3 CSL are in my opinion the best sport coupes from the 2000-2005 era, developed so far ahead of their time and timeless styling.

People complain about the SMG not necessarily because it makes you slower, but, mostly, because manuals are a lot more fun and they better suit the E46's character. Either way, awesome car!
