Me too! But this year I grew twice the number of tomatoes plants and canned twice as much. I ran out of canned tomatoes in 2023. I encourage everyone to grow something even if you in an apartment. Container gardens can produce so much food!

Every time I watch her I could cry. My eggplant is currently sitting in the fridge for 12 hours in vinegar as per Nona’s instructions… I miss my Italian grandparents more than I have words for. I make marinara from scratch myself along with my Madre and my grandma but that’s news to me with the celery, but I’ll tell you what I’m definitely gonna give it a shot. I do everything she does but the celery oh I do a little balsamic vinegar I put in it in a little bit of sugar to take the acidic taste out of the tomatoes
I had two wonderful grandmas.one was a master baker and the other cooked.knitted,made clothes and quilts,crocheted,raised chickens and had a massive garden.she canned tomatoes,picked wild grapes to make wine.the list goes on.they never learned to drive and walked miles in Chicago winters for groceries.
