my dog is 8 months old, and we just visited a vet, and she told us he has a fever on 40,4 degrees Celsius, which is very high. I live in greenland, so we don’t really have any professional vets here, so she couldn’t find the reason behind the fever.. he broke his tooth last week and had a big piece of plastic stuck in his gum, and to remove and heal that, he was sedated, and maybe he’s still high on drugs? Idk, I’m so scared that there’s something seriously wrong with him..he’s so young, and he loves playing , jumping and running around, so seeing him like this is completely terrifying to me. He’s already been diagnosed with a heart failure, which all the vets that we’ve visited (when we still lived in Denmark) told us wouldn’t have any serious impact on his life, but you never know... he just stares right into nothing, and keeps shivering and sometimes gets cramps when he’s sleeping. But on the bright sight he eats! I just hope, with all my heart, that he’ll get well soon...
Hi - likely some underlying infection related to the tooth. Supportive care is most impt- ie additional fluids, electrolytes, force feed as needed.. Can you revisit the vet and get on some antibiotics?
i know its not the most pleasant thing but mr fiesty kitty can be wrapped in a sheet or large tea towel strategically like a kitty- pig in a blanket pretty tightly with his head and bum out. it helps to isolate the limbs together being careful not to torque joints in an incorrect position, in a separate layer wrap and then layer more wraps so he will be unable to struggle out. try your best to give calm positive praise and not show your frustration, acting like everything is just fine. so he doesnt build a terrible association with the sheet treatment and run for the hills everytime you do your dishes, you might try lightly wrapping him and making a game out of it, treats included, positive happy "arent we having fun " praise. it sure helps for other things when you have to trim claws, put medicine in mouth or ears, etc
A cats normal temp is 100.4-102.5 degrees ferinheight so your cat does not have a fever if it gets above 102. They have a fever if it gets above 102.5.
You said i can measure my dogs temperature by ear dose it have to be a ear thermometer marketed for dogs or can it be one marked for humans? If i can get a every day ear thermometer its so much cheaper. Shar Pei are prone to getting Shar Pei fever so i should have something on hand incase I suspect a fever i came across a no contact thermometer marketed for dogs but seen the same kind of no contact thermometer marketed for humans is there really a difference? I also found a ear thermometer with ear probe is there a differents between the one marketed for dogs and one marketed to dogs?

I just got a 8 week old puppy she she not only feels hot to the touch, but her body heat is actually waking her up to get her to move because she is so warm! What should I do? She is a Great Pyrenees puppy and we keep it 66-68 degrees F in our house! Thanks!

PS I'm sure you'll agree that it is so frustrating to see so many pet owners thinking RUclips is a substitute for a vet appt. My God- especially with a fever. I had recently lost a British Shorthair due to FIP and my new kitten was acting very lethargic this afternoon when he would normally have play time and his treat with me. He was simply laying down and not acting right. I picked him up to cuddle him and he cried which put a shock in me because he was exhibiting similar behaviors that my other British Shorthair had with FIP. I quickly put my baby in it's carrier and took it to my Vet which is a block away thankfully. My baby has 104 temperature but everything else is okay. Liver, good. Heart, good. Kidneys, good. Ears, eyes, gums, teeth, etc. Good. They took extra blood to do a full panel so we will get the results tomorrow. My Vet gave him Subcutaneous Fluids, Meloxicam and Cefovecin. As soon as I got home I prepared Teddy Bear his dinner and fresh water. He ate beautifully well and had a few licks of water. He is resting comfortably. I am looking all over RUclips to find some explanations of what could be wrong with my baby because I am scared and very upset. It was only in March 2019 that I lost my other baby, Winston, to FIP and it was devastating to watch. It happened so quickly and I went to the 24 hour emergency Vet to see if they could help save him. So having recently lost a baby to a terrible disease and having my new baby sick is very overwhelming. I live my Teddy Bear so much and will spare no expense to heal him but I am overwhelmed with sadness and when I found your video explaining what fevers are and how they work I instantly felt more hopeful that this fever that my kitten has is due to an infection that most certainly can be treated with a positive outcome. Please keep doing more videos. You are making such a positive difference in helping all of us be better furparent's. I hope you have learned what to do within the last year what to do if your German Shepard puppy has a fever. See a vet urgently! If you don't have money for a vet why did you get a puppy? I hope you found a new home for him. Poor puppy!

Ideally you would go and have a veterinary exam to determine the cause. The safest thing to give is homeopathic Arnica 30C/20lbs every 2-4 hours
