I just read where president elect Trump had a phone call with the president of Mexico and she agreed to help stem the flow of migrants & drugs. ( Truth Social post ). They will have further discussions about mutual concerns on security.
@@paul4835 VOILA! And it was that simple. Now, when Trump is sworn in, he reinstates the 'remain in Mexico' policy, resumes construction of the border wall, and cuts ALL federal aid to illegal aliens...just for starters. Doesn't even need Congress for ANY of that. He also had a phone call with Justin Trudeau and Trudeau agreed that Canada will assist also. Amazing.
I’m Canadian and it has absolutely shaken the Canadian government to the core. Honestly his threats of tariffs may not only help him, But also could solve many of our problem with illegal border crossers, china and India meddling in Canadian politics and even maybe push this liberal government to the brink.
@@AudiS4orce1 India is not meddling with your politics. Jagmeet Singh, a Khalistani, is jerking Trudeau to rabble-rouse against India and so Trudeau is gas-lighting the Canadian people.
I think president elect Trump when he takes office, will begin negotiations with your goverment . I do like your Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre.
Good response...BUT, that may not be true that 'goods would cost more'. 1. The foreign manufacturer, whose goods are tariffed (taxed) would need to decide whether to add that _cost_ to it's price. They would have to consider the effect it has on the price of their goods v. the price of similar goods in the USA from sources which are NOT tariffed. Either domestic (USA) produced goods or goods from another, non tariffed, country. The countries cannot just pass the cost to the consumer without considering how it will affect their market share. China, for example, did NOT add the tariffs to its prices when the tariffs were implemented by Trump in his first term. The Chinese 'ate' those costs and simply reduced their profits. Mexico, for example, would have to consider the cost of clothing produced in Mexico to the cost of clothing made in Viet Nam, Malaysia, Philippines, etc. Canada, for example, sells 81% of its exported products to the USA. Imagine what happens to their economy if they just add 25% to the price of everything they produce. You might CHOOSE to buy maple syrup from Vermont or New York instead. Or softwood lumber from Georgia and Alabama. 🤔 2. Tariffs are 'voluntary' taxes for the consumer. You can avoid them by not buying products from those countries. 3. Used as a punitive tax (such as in this case) the countries have an 'either/or' choice. Both countries chose to cooperate on the border. Immediately. Likely the tariffs will never be implemented. And THAT was the plan. 4. Taxes (tariffs) change behavior. Cigarette tax is a great example. Raise it high enough and most people quit smoking. As was done throughout the 80s-90s. Smoking was more than cut in half. On the other hand, corporate taxes ('pay your fair share') apply across the board to ALL products and there is no way for consumers to avoid them. Funny how Democrats don't catch on to that, but they do catch on to tariffs. 🤔
@ I know and agree with what you are saying but I also think that people need to understand that it’s extremely important to have working Americans that can contribute to society, not cheap goods while increasing the number of people on government assistance which creates unsustainable debt. I worry that too many people are expecting a cheap easy fix.
ONE Tweet and TWO phone calls was all it took. And he isn't even in office yet.
RESULTS, not excuses.

When people say goods will cost more I reply I would rather pay more and have my fellow citizens working and paying taxes.
