I viewed this a year or so ago ... perhaps even earlier than that ... in any event, I just viewed it again, and enjoyed it as much, if not more, than the first time. What a terrific accomplishment. I trust your memories of the trip are still as alive today as they were two/three years ago. Trusting you're well, healthy and enjoying life. Cheers and all best wishes. And thanks again for this wonderful post.
Excellent... as a fellow RUclipsr...well done. I will doing this ride in 2021. Next year a few 5 day rides to see how things go. Biking has been helping me recover from Lyme Disease. What a great community.
Wow! Memories! I did that route from walnut grove MO to Astoria OR in 2003.... wish we had all this camera technology back then. Nice video montage, brought back some old memories!!!
Outstanding video. My wife and I rode the TransAm (and a bit more) in 1980 and I recognize most of the scenes. This short video captured the experience and essence better than most much longer RUclips videos of the transcontinental bike trip.
Lovely little film which brought back memories. Thanks. And congratulations on the clever editing, especially timing the changes to the beat of the music. Your little film made my day.
Glad that you did your Bicycle trip before Covid 19. I Applause you on your exiting trip across this great country. If you go again, take a friend or friends along to share it and to be much safer. Thanks
I have just read through a majority of these comments and every one of them echoes my sentiments exactly I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon this, On May days Eve 2022 22 I will be leaving in 21 days on the magical memory tour raising funds for Alzheimer's research is across the country commemorating my commemorating my similar ride 50 years a year ago. Thank you for the very inspirational video the editing the soundtrack the story of was all excellent and will encourage me On those miles when I scat seem to find any other source of strength
@@ellerybice3787 right here in my heart and with friends around the world. A surly ogre with twenty thousand miles in the last few years. Going to give a new wheel set soon the hubs are worn out already replaced every part from some of the best miles of my life!
Super cool. Congrats on your tour. My son and I just went from Florence, OR, into Kansas. I had to work all along the way, so it became impossible to finish. So we ended in Kansas. Someday... . Great video.
Well done. Same Summer, I was walking south. At some point my footprints passed over your tire tracks, probably in some lava landscape of Oregon. Now I'm considering this bike route as my next adventure, so thanks for sharing! Happy Trails.
I just watched this video. So awesome. I’ve been planning my journey across the US for 5 years. Was going to go in 2020, but obviously didn’t. My buddy I planned to go with in 2020 can’t go this year, and encouraged me to go. So I’ll be going solo. So great to see you do it on your own. Congratulations!!!
The TransAm trail was originally the Bikecentennial B76 trail. Bikecentennial Association was converted into the American Cycling Association (ACA) and today has over 50,000 miles of trails throughout the US, including the original which the video gal apparently took. If you need maps, contact the ACA. In 1976, at the launch of the trail, there were many groups of 8-15 or so bikers who left the east or west coast every day for a couple of months. It was a global community that passed back and forth along that trail then. It is well known and loved trail throughout the world to this day.
That was so exciting to watch! I just completed the Southern Tier...the shortest way to cross the country, haha. Your video is making me want to go back out and do this route! Mine was 1500 miles shorter and took 50 riding days. Kudos for doing the longer route!
Boston to El Paso late fall 2019. I hated Missouri! Great people, tough terrain! I rode: East Coast Greenway to Richmond. VA, to Trans America Trail, to Route 66, dropped down to Austin to the Southern Tier. Stopped in New Mexico... 750 miles short of my destination of San Diego... I’m 62 years old but am already thinking about one more shot across!!! Dumb Swede from Boston! HA!
I'm thinking this is my next summer. Starting off in Coos Bay. Wanna go for a ride? I've been off my pedal bike for a couple years. Think this is just the thing I need.
...i have soo many questions. I want to cycle Midwest to California with my dog! Camping? Roads? Path? Panniers? Backpack? I'll get a children cart for my dog(for downhill and hot roads) Respond with any advice TY! I'll be camping and hotel. What did u do wrong? What did u do correct?
What is the round puck like thing on your frame? How do you keep your electronics charged? Well done. I am planning a trans trxas trip on my handcycle (arm powered bike).
Cool wish I still had this in me for now i just wish to give out my bike my legs really pain now and riding isn't easy am placing my bike on a give away
Cool video. I hope more people get the urge to ride a bicycle, and that more bicycle paths will be built so that cyclists don't have to ride on the road, or at the very least more roads will have bike lanes.
that's easy if you got money!! i ride a lot, but have no money to do this kind of ride across america. this would be so easy for me. just need da money. so how much money did you have to spend on the trip across america!! i have talked to many a bike tourisit and they all say about a 50 dollars a day on the cheap and if you get rooms and fancey campgrounds about a bill a day!! so if it took you 3 months that whould be roughly about 10, 000 dollars.

Much better than therapy, both physically and mentally.

Aw, this warmed my heart. Thanks for sharing - the Trans Am was the best decision I've ever made.
Glad that you did your Bicycle trip before Covid 19. I Applause you on your exiting trip across this great country. If you go again, take a friend or friends along to share it and to be much safer. Thanks

Just starting to research the TAB and stumbled across your site. I've hiked the PCT, AT, CT, and TRT and am looking for something new. Great video.

I know are saving the best for last riding east to west, but those headwinds...ouch. Major props for going that way.
I rode west to east, and still had head wind over half the time, sucks having to pedal going downhill.
On my bucket list 😁
Where did you find to stay at nights? Hotels? Did you have a tent?
So inspiring!
Great job 👍👌
Spent 8 weeks on a self-,supported tour of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It was life changing. The effects are still with ne 20 years later.
Thank you for sharing this journey. Why didnt you keep making videos. Did you stop riding?
Nice job 👍🇬🇧👍.
What’s next?
What kind of tires did you use and how long did they last ??
Good job👍👍👍
cool kulkul videos are innovative and creative
Inspiring - was worried about the stray dogs...
I can’t stop crying.
Suck it up Buttercup
cool video! I am going to inline skate the trail. Is there any portion that would be impossible or very difficult to inline skate? Thanks
Refreshing to see one of these trips being done on a basic, mid range road bike. No need to have some $10k worth of gear.
That looks awesome you can be very proud of yourself for that achievement to do it alone. You put the rest of us to shame
Beautiful. Is there a good reason why most people do this tour from west to east? For example prevailing winds?
I'm thinking this is my next summer. Starting off in Coos Bay.
Wanna go for a ride? I've been off my pedal bike for a couple years. Think this is just the thing I need.
this is my dream!!
Sick!
Any advices?
