The fact that there are only 6 possible layouts and we can't create new one is so dumb. I wan't a layout with one window taking 1/3 of the screen on the left and another taking the 2/3 remaining, but only the layout with a window taking 2/3 on the left and another taking 1/3 on the right exists...

Can we edit the snaps layouts themselves? The 6 offered are great, but would be even more amazing if you can customize them to our liking and our work space. Especially with the newer 49 inch monitors that we have now. it would be great to have 3x2 setups.
We need 'Window Sticky' option so whenever we open little window on top of bigger window it doesn't Hide behind when we click on bigger window. Sometimes its hard to work on notion with split screens
Windows 11 made it A LOT, LOT harder. Before, you simply minimized the all of the apps, then you restored only the ones you wanted. If you want them in a certain order, click on the last, then second to the last, then 3rd from the last, then first. Then you on the taskbar and select Tile vertically, horizontally, or whatever you want and you were not restricted as to the number of windows. Windows 11 tiling is a clumsy, limited, mess.
problem is windows doesn't remeber my layout !every day i have to do it over and sometimes even when it has gone into sleep mode as well .uuuggghhh this is so irretating
I do appreciate your enthusiasm about this feature, and all well and good. To be a luddite - is there a way to turn this off? I use two large 4K monitors and sometimes I move a window to top of screen or wherever and suddenly I have six documents visible when I only meant to drag one window to the second screen. Please tell me I can turn it off? Thx
Snap Layouts is one of the most obnoxious and irritating new "unwanted features" that I have ever come across in Windows. I could list many more, but this one takes the cake. So glad I looked up how to turn if off!
So how does one turn off snap?

Great job microsoft. Remove my ability to tile all windows in a category. Make my workflow harder.
i have an ultra wide screen, does anyone know if there is an easy way to get 4 vertical splits? i like how the 3 vertical options snap in place, but 4 verticals would be perfect for how i work
I use the 3 verical splits, then for the fourth one, I use win key+ right, win key + down quickly to snap it at the bottom right.

I've been debating switching from 3 monitors to a single Ultra wide for several years now. What held me back is the Snap features in Windows 10 being focused on splitting the screen in half or quarters when what I really needed was thirds (so my primary workspace could be centered). With the improvements in Windows 11 Snap including thirds and a larger center layout I took the plunge and bought a 32:9 Samsung 49" Ultra-Ultra wide monitor and it has not disappointed. The Snap feature combined with this monitor is everything I was hoping it would be. Now if I could just hide the quarter and vertical Snap layouts since this monitor is way too wide for that to be useful.

I want an option to save the snap group . So whenever we start our laptop or pc , we can get back to that save snap group and start what we are planning to do. Without the need of re-groupping those snaps again.
Even with dual screens, managing windows on my dev desktop is a major exercise. Gets my vote as the best UI feature ever!
Does not work with every application, unfortunately not with the Microsoft Teams app. Will there be an improvement for the automatic opening of, for example, a mail and reply to the mail in a certain window? Very annoying that this always has to be determined...
Thanks for great video! 1 questions: can you remember snap groups , save them so you can call em up , even after restart? 2. Can you snap groups be persistent and opened on multiple desktops ?
Thanks for explaining where others out there would not that if you want the full 6 template layouts you need higher than 1080p. Bummer for me since this is a work laptop I can't modify.
when i do snap layouts and resize the screens, the inactive one goes grey and displays the app icon in the center. why is that? it's really annoying.
how do you the window exactly as big as you want it to be did they take this feature away? when I shrink a window to be smaller , i can't make less than half the screen.
If you have two monitors, will snap do both or only main screen? Is there a way to clear layout when you don’t want to use them anymore? Can you drag your snap group to the second monitor?

i switched this feature off. i have 2 monitors and i find very annoying all these unexpected surprises with my windows being unexpectedly resized when i move them between monitors.
I cant see any Snap Layout when I take the cursor on Maximize ...
how do I remove the snap layout thing on top of the screen when I drag a window there?
is there any method to change the shortcut for windows snap ( Move selected window to the left or right monitor ) The default shortcut is shift+windows+arrows ,but I want to change it
how to salve a group of windows the same way everyday? tasklayout did that, the software, but they shut down the selling for that app.

If I can have 4 windows on a Full HD screen, why cant I have 16 on my 4k screen? Still having quarters is the same, just bigger. What I want is: more windows. And why are they not horizontal? Especially since Excel exists? workking with many colums requires horizontal space.
And for multiscreen users like me - please - make the taskbar movable again. It's absolutely useless on the bottom of the screen.

I don't mind Microsoft adding new features; but please don't remove the old features. I miss the classic cascade windows. Just. Bring. That. Back.
I have an issue on the brightness on one side than the other and once I click on the right window the left gets dark!!!!

Kind of annoying that this doesn’t work with every application. Windows 10 was much better cause you could shrink the window easily and put it anywhere you want.
but yet windows still doesnt have hotcorners using your mouse like mac has had for years....i use mac at home and windows at work the hotcorners is AWESOME...and yes i already know there's 3rd party apps that sorta do hotcorners

The layout feature does not exist in the window 11 on my computer.
Consider yourself fortunate, for you are indeed the chosen one. It annoys the heck out of me!

I like the snap layout feature.
The only thing that bothers me is that it breaks with the basic Windows 11 design, the rounded window corners. I would love it if there was an alternative layout with small gaps that still showed the rounded windows corners.
But maybe that's asking too much 🙂 And, of course, you can use MS Powertoys FancyZones instead.

Nothing better than a tech vid that only talks about how good a feature is....and says nothing about what doesn't work with that feature. Ya know, how to troubleshoot the feature. How to turn off the feature. Guess I found the wrong channel for that kind of information.
sounds like propaganda, an annoying feature that has developed is windows maximizing when they are clicked, can not disable this from regedit
For me its the only feature I liked in windows 11.....until today. You know why I came here? BECAUSE THE SNAP SHIT REALLY REMEMBERS WHERE I SNAPPED THE WINDOWS AND NOW IT WONT LET ME UNSNAP
When I click as much as one single snapped window everything else goes to assume the snapped positions, moving apps that i had maximized in other screens, back to tiny windows on my main screen. Seriously Microsoft, get your shit together or off we go to IOS

I came here to learn about this subject but your fast talking and unclear mouse movements made this vid useless. Pretty video graphics and good sound, but as a learning experience pretty useless. Not trying to be adick, just providing constructive criticism because you seem to have good presentation skills and techniques.
I agree, it's just a bird's eye view of what this can do, but it's totally no clear. He should have used simple windows, maybe 2-3 of them. Like notepad, calculator and a folder, then move them around to display possibilities
