  • Emergency orotracheal intubation or rapid sequence intubation is indicated in any situation in which definitive control of the airway is needed. Specific indications include cardiac or respiratory arrest failure to protect the airway from aspiration, inadequate oxygenation, or ventilation, and the impending or existing airway obstruction or a tracheal intubation is also commonly performed as part of the care of critically ill patients with multisystem disease or injuries, and to facilitate control of the airway during surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia in emergency cases, such as cardiac arrest.

You don’t need an EtCO2 detector on an anesthetic breathing circuit. That small diameter line coming off the circuit, called a sampling line, connects to a capnogram and will provide EtCO2 measuring.

@@ecgkidGreat video. Can l please refuse intubation by making a living will? Please reply to me.

@@gordanazakula5669 Yes you sure can ! This is called an DNI or Do Not Intubate order. You can make this a part of your living will AND Medical Record. A DNI however, does NOT cover CPR/compressions, that would be a DNR or Do Not Resuscitation. You can be both of you wish;, DNI/DNR.
Hope this help clarify! (RN of 22 years). Every hospital can help you with a living will completion or you can find them online and have it notarized.
