There are four sections to a portfolio 25% speculation and 50-70% all gauranteed but lowered positions 3-5% treasury bills etc maybe even etfs but again yes the vast majority should be safe investments depending on your sweep vehicle

@@gregoryprosperdon't want to talk your head off but I'll break it down, sure diff people will have slightly diff degrees of more or less risky positions. Here I'm referring to 25% of total original principle(also why i left 5% out for reinvestments like dividends) alot of money over time will be separated from the original principle which will ultimately lower that 25% over 10-30 years and part of the reason for that is the unrealized losses have the option of lightening the total tax burden so part of that speculation isn't just big profit swings its calculated losses against the capital gains taxes over a 25 year plan.
