In the review, I forgot to discuss a few mechanics, mostly because they played such a small role in the overall experience. Here is what I would have said about the RPG systems, the Clothing Resistances, as well as Boss Battles.
RPG Systems: You pick your class at the beginning of the game, and each glass has special additional skills you can unlock. Upon leveling up, you are given an upgrade point in the form of a dog tag, as well as an increase to the Stat of your choice. I played on Normal, and honestly the only Stat that proved much of a difference was Agility, which makes you run quicker, so I ended up dumping most of my points into that and Luck. I never felt the need to upgrade anything else because my gun was so powerful, and the game isn't very difficult on the Normal Difficulty setting. Maybe the RPG systems impact Hard mode more, but they felt unobtrusive and mostly unnecessary on Normal. The Class specific perks were also a bit meeh, mostly consisting of things like “10% more rifle damage,” or 10% increased firing speed, since I chose a long ranged class. Ultimately, Biomutant is an open-world action-adventure game with light RPG systems, not an open-world RPG. Maybe a sequel could lean more heavily into the RPG aspects of the game, but I'm content with Biomutant being a more relaxed, less complicated, frictionless open world game.
Clothing Resistances: The big thing that clothing provides are resistances to the various hazardous environments you'll encounter, like places that are too hot, too cold, or irradiated. Although it didn't take too long for me to cobble together an outfit that gave me 100% resistance to every one of the hazards, so it's an easy enough factor to ignore if you want to.
Boss Battles: The fights themselves are pretty fun, and serve as bombastic set pieces, with fun gimmicks such as needing to use certain vehicles, but they hardly justify the inclusion of a morality system.
