Everything Wrong with the eShop
Просмотров 101Месяц назад
I don't mind having an open eShop where cheap cash grabs, adult-lite, asset swaps and mobile games share real estate with "proper" games. The more options the better IMO. But, I absolutely hate the eShop's policy regarding Bundles. Get rid of Bundles and you fix the eShop! Just take a look at how many of those cheapo games are actually Bundles. Release a game twice - once at launch, and once as...

Thanks for the great review. I almost purchased this game from Super Rare.
I disagree. I thought the combat was fine.
going to see it in London on Saturday
going see it in december with a friend
@@jaydenjohnson4221 that's awesome! It's incredible. You're going to have a blast.
Its weird to say my stance when most of my friend group are PC gamers or PS5 gamers in that sense, so they are all about graphics, 120 FPS, HDR, etc. But this video honestly made me feel not alone in my stance and it’s nice to know others agree. The switch actually got me to try out a couple of AAA games like The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Hogwarts Legacy, and Alien Isolation (which btw looks better on Switch than the PS4 version!). I own a PC and PS5, but I always find myself going to my switch, and i do think it comes from the charm of seeing the compromises of these certain games made to fit the limited hardware for the sake of portability. The switch successor will definitely be a day 1 pick up for me
@@kyongu375 I'm so glad! I assumed people would think I was insane, but I've been really surprised by how many people agree with me, it's been really validating!
2:47 what game is this?
@@SociallyCorrupt that's V-Rally 4. It didn't get great reviews, but I loved it. I thought it was much better than the URC games.
@@GameDreamery oooooh ok thanks I might look into it I love playing racing games on my switch like need for speed hot pursuit and burnout paradise
@@SociallyCorrupt it's on sale all the time, so wait for it to hit a sale and it's normally really cheap! Haha I just checked and the ultimate edition is on sale for 6.99 right now. www.dekudeals.com/items/ultimate-edition2
I am surprised by how much I like this bulk review structure for Nintendo Directs. I'd love to see more of these in the future!
@@amphibiousRV thanks so much! I figured I'd try something a bit different. Next time there's another set of drops like this I'll make another!
@@GameDreamery Sweet! Looking forward to it!
What game is at 6:56?
@@WreggGallace that's World War Z! I love that game, it's a great time solo and even better coop.
Lol almost feels like the sonic x shadows generations add ons are a response. 1:38 A bit exaggerating lol. On the budget end, there's more toree games.
I can completely relate to the excitement you've expressed in this video. When they announced they'd be visiting Europe, I immediately took my chance and travelled to Paris since that was the closest city I could get to. I honestly did NOT expect the second part of the show but I absolutely loved it. There were a lot of cosplayers in Paris too; but what really made me happy was knowing that there were just so many Sonic fans in that one single room singing their hearts out. Some key differences between Paris and Sand Diego is that instead of Jun Senoue we got Tomoya Ohtani, and that (4:56) surprisingly we did get to hear Fist Bump in Paris. Go figure hahaha. Glad to here you had a lovely time as well! I for one have been hooked on various Symphonies ever since. And if Sonic were to ever visit again; I'd be there within a heartbeat.
@@SillySallyMan that's so awesome you got to see it in Paris! I had no idea the second part of the show was coming either. I lost my mind when they started the second set. I'm hopeful that the show later this month in LA will have some of the songs I missed in San Diego, but even if it's the same set I'm so excited to hear it all again. I'd go every year if they keep it going. That cool that different composers go to different shows too. I wish other videogame series would do something similar. I'd kill for a Nintendo Symphony World Tour haha. Or maybe even better, a David Wise Symphony!
Actually, scratch that. What I'd really love more than anything is a Xenoblade Symphony World Tour!
Thia developer is amazing
@@TriforcePlayer2 no kidding!!
10:26 which game is this, please ?
That's Gungrave G.O.R.E. It's pretty fun!
Cool I wish I could go 😢
I really hope they do another tour next year too!
I don't understand why games are costing more and taking longer to make. Isn't the tech advancing in such a way that the same effort from 05 should produce a better result? Just do that instead of trying to make an interactive-swiss-army-movie. It seems like feature creep to me.
@@les_crow I think it mostly has to do with how most AAA devs are focusing on realism. But yeah, scope creap is a serious problem today. Way too many games have overly designed systems.
I completely agree with you because I've been playing FNAF security breach and for the systems hardware it was extraordinary and I loved playing on it even though I had a PS5 and it's mostly because of portability and the fact the graphics where good enough for it to be enjoyable and playable and the free dlc ruin is coming out to switch for the holidays and it's more ambitious than the base game and from the trailers it looked surprisingly good with the only issue being frame drops and help wanted 2 is coming to switch for the holidays as well so I completely agree with you that some bigger games can run as long as it's well optimized and acceptable and I've been playing sonic frontiers on switch ive been enjoying it 👍
@@lerendo998 I've been wanting get intk FNAF, but the gameplay of the first one didn't click with me. Help Wanted and the new 2D one looked super cool though!
sounds like it needed more Press Factory Zone too!
Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one who love "demakes" and low graphics games. I never get the appeal of high end ultra realistic games and even when my PC is capable of running games at highest settings, I always turn it down to the lowest with only anti aliasing enabled unless it becomes unplayable. Sometimes high fidelity and high framerate graphics feels too much for me and I cap it down to not let me get too spoiled with high end hardware and then not being able to enjoy ambitious ports and games on low end devices again.
Great review but i have one question did you get an error while playing on switch?
@@George-sn3bt thanks! Hmm, I never got any errors while playing. Are you having issues running it?
I am having issues running it at the very end of the final level I got an error and I had to do the level all over again and I got another error at the end of the same level😒
@@George-sn3bt oh shoot. Did you beat the level and then get an error? I know you have to beat that final level with a certain number of lives otherwise it'll kick you back to the very beginning if you fail. It's a giant pain. That sucks if you have to keep redoing it because of an error. I hope they patch it soon since all of the Electric Jester 2 levels are locked behind that level.
@@George-sn3bt I had the same error In the previous final boss with fark I lost because my skill isn't enough to that moment and when I think spaw in the same point in the boss just the game crashed and close automatically by error and for obvious reason I had to complete again the eggmanland from spark 😐
About that combat suction I figure out how to skip most of them
@@tiiq378 I skipped as many as I could too
@@GameDreamery I found so many combos just with spark alone and honestly I think spark the electric jester 3 without combat it would be more repetitive and I found in that part so funny and also has a infinite mode to pure combat and plus other caracter and switch them in any moment including a combo Makes for me the combat SO INCREDIBLE see waves of enemies just to down to just my skill is so grateful But I understand if the combat is no to much enjoyable for you
This is why it’s hilarious when you see developers blame the Series S for their shitty games when other devs have been pulling off magic since GBA…
Ok so now I really want to play this. But how is the performance on the switch?
@@Mr.Vetkoek it's mostly great! There's some minor slowdown when there are a lot of enemies on screen during those combat sequences, and when you're going really fast the resolution can take a hit (it's definitely dynamic), but nothing that got in the way of me having fun!
@@GameDreamery niiice! Thank you for the response!
@@GameDreamery Is it 60 fps? or 30?
@@jessemcilvenna2980 30
Looks so much fun, glad you enjoyed it! Having said that I am so jelous you got to see Paul McCartney
@@juancimino296 seeing Paul McCartney was insane, I waited like three hours so I could be front row. This was back in like 2009, I think. Very crazy experience. Thanks for watching all my vids!
Looks great! Wasnt aware there was a Demo, will have to try it out
@@juancimino296 let me know what you think! I loved it.
To refine. To condense. To pivot. To adapt. To reduce complexity. To increase efficiency through simplicity and elegance. Those principles no longer exist because raw power and middleware open all the doors. And video game design suffers because of it. Without those principles you wouldn't have Mario's moustache, scrolling playfields, smooth 3D, The Nintendo Game Boy, gorgeous graphics with less colours. file compression, movie playback on CD among so many others. The impossible switch port is bad for publisher business... Imagine getting all of The Witcher 3 on a switch cart? ITS WITCHCRAFT!!!!!!!!!! 60FPS is great but its not a deal breaker for me. If you pay thousands for your kit then obviously 30FPS is an insult. But the Switch has a mobile-adjacent chipset. Cheap as chips. The Switch is going to be the last bastion of what a console is defined as. So stoked I got to see so much originality in design on the platform. The 'Switch 2' will be a digital-centric machine. The Cloud will used in place of a true native port going forward. The future is a frightening world to envisage.
Bravo, excellently said!
Apart from Puan Muan Buan, yes as a Chinese person I can confirm that’s exactly what we say.
Hi! What game is that at 10:25?
Great video! Dr. Robotnik at 0:44 here. Thanks for posting the picture, and it was great to meet you!
@@9ernation Hey! Thanks so much, glad you liked it. Loved your Dr. Robotnik, so cool seeing everyone dressed up. I can't wait to see the show again in Sept! Great meeting you too!
Those games look awesome in Switch Lite 5.5" screen
In terms of the Single Player aspect, it's a lot better than Mania's and Blitz HD. Minor gripe I personally have is the music is a bit lacking and the mini games (even though they at least "function" better than Mania's). I'm glad that Rumble is more approachable to more people.
Keep em coming so I can pirate this shit in my phone's emulator
Man I also love the aesthetic of downgraded games. I’m just glad the switch successor is gonna hopefully load into games faster. I wait forever for some of these games to load lol
@@adam711s totally! The load times bother me so much more than the graphical downgrades.
Persona 5 Royal and Nier Automata are perfect ports on the Switch.
Can't believe they made a game of that crappy Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu movie.
haha I know! They made 2 of them!
Switch will always be my fav comsole
What's the last game that's shown on this video?
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter! It's one of the prettiest games on Switch
The Switch definitely has some ambitious ports. I became aware of these sorts of ports with the PSP. Manhunt 2, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Dante's Inferno, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the various Star Wars Battlefronts, the Grand Theft Autos (are they ports? they're basically the same cities, but with a different story). This continued (though, with less success) onto the Playstation Vita, with X-Com: Enemy Unknown Plus, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2, Borderlands 2, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Odin Sphere and more. It's funny, however, because at the time of the PSP and Vita's existence, these ambitious ports (despite how good they were or weren't) were always ridiculed for their shortcomings. Now, on the Switch, they're priased for running, warts and all. Oh well. Personally, I will endure many alterations and excisions to content, graphics, and presentation as long as it is portable. To this day, the Vita versions of X-com, Resident Evil Rev 2, and Borderlands 2 are the versions I've played the most. All because of portability.
I just saw this game on eBay and instantly RUclipsd it.
I wish you did more research for this man. This is so underbaked and filled with sentences that just mean nothing? Lots of feelings but you could do a lot better man. Hope it works out
I have a switch lite. I don’t get much use out of it but I do use it a lot in specific circumstances like long plane flights or road trips
Nah, Pokemon wasn't built for more powerful hardware. It was built for children and sheeple that will throw their money at these games no matter how bad they are.
Switch I play exclusives or platformers. Be more relaxing to play a walking sim like heavy rain on switch and in bed. Being tired, with adult responsibilities. More. Everything else is just stupid if u have a ps4/5. Course, if u got the time or want. To do it. U have fun doing it.
Once I got over the framerate, the battle modes are really fun. Goal rush in particular is my favorite. Comparing them to past Monkey Ball minigames is a bit unfair because they are trying to accomplish something a bit different by being 16-player compatible rather than 4.
I really have to disagree with you with the lack of ambitious ports on other platforms. Wii cod, N64 quake, Spiderman edge of time 3ds and PS1 Rayman 2 are all good examples
you're totally right. A ton of people have commented about that and now I have a huge list! I didn't have Edge of Time or Quake on it though. Thanks!
As someone with a Switch, PS5 and Steam Deck....I wonder how best to balance these platforms. Some games will look better on the PS5, but if I could, I'd prefer to play it handheld on the Steam Deck. Other games will look beautiful on the Steam Deck, but will run just fine on the smaller Switch system I feel comfortable taking outside of the home. I don't expect this to get any clearer when the Switch 2 is released :/ At this moment, Dragon Quest 3 on Switch, Visions of Mana on Steam Deck, and Metaphor on PS5.....maybe.
Im so happy I found you because I relate to every single word you’re saying. During the Steam Summer Sale, I purchased Hogwarts Legacy to play and enjoy on my gaming PC so I could crank up the graphics. However, I ended up refunding it not long after and just fired it up on my Switch instead. I relate so hard with what you are saying about the downgrades making it more enjoyable which is THE WEIRDEST THING TO SAY and if I share that to my friends, they will look at me crazy!
I'm so glad you're here! I did the exact same thing with Sonic Frontiers. I bought it on PS5 and Switch, and even though the PS5 one looks and runs so much better, I still played the whole game on Switch! When I first put out this video I assumed that everyone would think I was nuts, but it's been so awesome finding people who share this crazy opinion/preference!
One thing to keep in mind about more powerful hardware is that it can allow for lazier programming. It can let coders get away with being less efficient. This isn't too bad if its just here and there in a few spots. But if the games code is filled with lazy programming it can really suck.
@@JozevG good point!
Alright. There are A LOT of impossible ports on all of the consoles you mentioned. That was a strange take. Morrowind on Xbox. Resident Evil 2 on N64. Quake 2 on PS1. Etc. on and on
I simply love handhelds. I still don't believe how Xenoblade 1 is playable on a 3ds (a new 3ds, but still incredible). Check it out.
@@ZuoKalp omg, I adore Xenoblade on 3DS. That's how I originally played it! It was my favorite version of the game until Definitive came out on Switch. That is my ultimate ambitious port... Still blows my mind that it ever came to 3DS.
@@GameDreamery I own both the Wii and 3ds versions, but there's no better form factor for RPGs than on the go.
@@ZuoKalp agreed! I really hope Xenoblade X is a launch title for Switch 2.
“It will never come to a Nintendo console” - Howard Lincoln *aged poorly*
for me it was nier automata. I know its older game, but still. my old laptop barely can run it
@@testarossa6760 totally! That game is amazing on Switch.
