We are on that volume now, Story of the World has been working so great for our household. For this volume, we skipped the chapter tests and just going through the review questions and talk about the chapters at the end. Thank you for the read aloud/audio recommendations!

The Link is in the description of the video. The spiral books I put together with the SOTW activity book material 🙂

I have the one on ancients. my high schooler hates reading and our whole curriculum is reading so i was going to cut out some of our dry history reading and do just one of the story of the world books for her instead just so i can keep her reading in the literature and sciences. Do you think this would be ok for a 16 year old junior to read as their history for the year? I was considering just putting it in a Study Basket with her science and just asking her to read it once a week.

It would really depend on your child. I will only be having my kids use it until about grade 9 but it could be a good basis for history. It does come in CD form as well if listening to it is a better option. Or the author, Susan Wise Bauer has created a high school series called History of the World which also comes in audio format. You can find it on the Well Trained Mind website.

Did you do this for volume one? With the read aloud list?

No, I didn't add in the read alouds until vol.2 but I did add in games and some extras which you can see in that review video.
