+Lex King Vlogs It's not about maxing the bike out, it's only about having the AFR adjusted properly. R1 2020 runs very poorly at around 6-7k RPM and has flatspot which feels like there is "water in fuel". Also the low rpm the bike is lazy and when you shift into first gear and want to go faster it likes to stall sometimes. We don't need 210hp, we need a bike that has 180ish hp with smooth power delivery. If this issue with new R1 continues, I will be switching back to full stock exhaust(even on stock exhaust bike is lean).
@@sufilms8878 so it’s not about actually flashing the ECU it’s about a design problem because you want something more attuned for street riding? This guy does a shit job of actually explaining the real problem.
I have to partly agree. I want a bike that I can almost max out. I like the feeling of having some power left in my bike, so I won't get bored as quickly because I feel like I can handle the max of my bike easily. On the other hand, I don't want a bike where I lose my license if I max out 1st gear (such like the R1 or S1000RR). A Yamaha MT-09 (or other bikes with similar power figures and configured engines for torque in the lower rev range) are the sweet spot for me personally (on the public road, on the track this doesn't apply ofcourse)

It would take a lot more than having to wait for a ECU flash for me not to by a R1, I purchased a 2020 r1m last year witch is the 5th R1 that I’ve owned . When ever I’m in the market for a bike i go to the dealership and look at all the bikes and I always leave with the R1, looks wise the other bikes just don’t compare (the only time i didn’t think that was 09 to 14 R1 🤮) and the seating position just fits me better. And at the end of the day its a solid bike on a solid platform ( i have never had any problems with any of the r1’s that i have owned). Now as far as the other bike i was looking at for 2020 was the BMW S1000RR and after some research finding out that they were having problems with front brakes leaking , rims cracking , cold start issues (that require a flash ) and a dead spot at 5000 to 7000 rpm (that required a flash) all those problems made my choice very easy.

In Bmw s1000 case it's about 45hp in the mid range. The bike frankly sucks without a tune and I'll is more dangerous without tune, as the power comes on violently after about 9k rpm. Tune gives a nice linear power increase through the dome.

@@ohad.5890 It's a valid point. Most of us who go and spend the money on a new machine aren't looking to keep it stock, we want to make the price tag worth it. If you love the bike and don't care about wringing out all the performance locked away under restrictions than feel free to buy it, but the man is entitled to his opinion and many of us share it. I'd have never bought my 2019 CBR1000RR, the straight up least powerful new liter bike with the heaviest restrictions, if I hadn't been able to flash the ecu. Even with a full exhaust and dyno tune the thing is still less powerful than most stock liter bikes of today. When you pay almost 20k for performance, you want to maximize that performance you paid so much for and get the most bang for your buck.
I kind of sort of bought a 2021 R1 today 🤷🏻♀️ pick it up tomorrow 10am. I’m so excited but I’m also full of anxiety lol.. it’s a huge purchase for a bike and it’s new and I squeal, blush, and get butterflies every time I see it. Currently drive a 05 R1, first bike. Still nervous to get on this thing.
just got out of a coma from a ladie running a stop sign and side swiping me and watching your videos always makes me wanna ride i almost died but ill still be out on 2 wheels again
But also tho, imagine not recommending a bike because you cant ecu-flash it. I live in a country where i can't even legally take out the db killer or an already pretty quiet bike. Like my cb500f with a mivv gp slipon would probably still be more quiet than a lawnmower. My bike without any slipon was more quiet than my neighbours r6, with an sc (kat and killer in). I do get it, you want thó get the most about a bike. But that's like a small problem compared to what can be done and is allowed to be done on a bike.
could not agree more, I spent months working and saving specifically for the newest 2020 r1 of my dreams and quite simply it isn't smooth enough stock. the power gains are amazing but the smooth power delivery from a tune would make this bike a real competitor with the BMW

i don't think i'll ever buy a 1000. Im going way over the speed limit before i even shift to 2, and you don't have to give so much gas for that. I like to utilise all the gears, shifting for some reason makes alot of fun. And i don't want to ride recklessly and potentially kill someone from my riding either. I'll probably get a cbr650r (mainly because of the looks), and maybe an even smaller bike, maybe a 300 for short zaps around the city.

I have a 2020 R1M and my dyno tuner installed the Rapid Bike Evo for the 2020 R1. My bike was actually the first one installed in the world. It is tuned more perfectly than any bike I've ever owned top to bottom achieving around 218HP at the crank. Massively improved the bike's performance off the mark and fueling even at idle. Happy to send you the dyno charts and videos. Maybe go see a professional instead of trying to do it at home in your garage with a shitty handheld tuner.
I would definitely buy the new R1, flash or no flash...it looks great and sounds amazing and it competes well against the competition in every bike comparison test on the track I've seen. It's still a track slayer stock, ill be aight. 😏
Just get a different year so you can flash it tbh. My 2015 without a flash was lame for lack of better words. Once I got it flashed it felt like a much better bike
just get a 2019 I have a 2020 its not worth it the flash makes it way more powerful and more importantly the delivery of said power more smooth and usable
My son follows you but not your advice so much because yesterday he just bought a 2021 R1 from Austin rides off of braker Ln . I'm picking it up tomorrow for him because the prep team left before he was done with the purchase. Hope theres a remedy soon. I had a 2009 r1 and now my son is giving me the itch again.
I'm pretty sure they don't want you to flash that bike. My evidence is based on the Snowmobiles. Those are instantly unlockable. You can tune them up to 270HP with just a ECU re-flash straight out of the box. Why you can't do that with the bikes?
that looks like more bike than the majority of riders can realistically handle. why you would be wanting to get rid of it because you cant hack it to get more speed out of it is beyond me.
I’m buying a Yamaha R1…2015 and below with the twin exhaust but not the cross plane because somebody told me that it has starting problems…cranking or some issues…is this true?…thanks in advance
Soon I'm going to buy my first mini bike, and am considering buying my first motorcycle afterwards. I will mainly cruise on the roads because I'm in California, and everyday there are a lot of reckless drivers, and distracted drivers here. The state should ban them from driving, and they should have to use public transit. Not including thousands injuries...almost 4,000 people died in California because of traffic accidents in 2020 alone.
This video hit the nail on the head. I have a 2020 R1 and have been waiting almost a year for the flash. Going forward I will not buy a motorcycle until it has been unlocked. Really like the bike but the restrictions are holding back the real performance. Getting close to saying bye to it and getting an S1000RR.
can't you just take the R1 to a Yamaha dealer and they can download whatever tune you want into the ECU? I realize it's not the same as putting your bike on the dyno, but I think if tell them your riding style and what exhaust you put on, they can get pretty close. Then again, I'm not into modern bikes, I still ride one with a carburetor, LOL
Yo I need advice. Will be in the market for a little bike coke spring, stuck on Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. Which one do y’all prefer and why? ( I’m leaning torwards Honda )
I have a 2020 R1 as well. I had a 2016 Aprilia rsv4 that I used for track days and never had it flashed so I guess it’s not a huge deal. With that being said, if the ecu is ever cracked, I’ll put a pipe on mine and have it flashed.
After it's flashed you need to actually do a full titanium exhaust system. With catalytic converter delete and make sure you get a two brothers full carbon fiber M2 Black Series exhaust system. And K&N air filter and you might even want a different air filter box. One that will allow it to breathe better. Then after you've got all that done go back and have a full custom Dyno tune. By Moore Mafia. They do amazing work the bike should be putting out right at 200 horsepower at the rear wheel by the time you get all that done. If you really wanted to step up your game I would go with rotobox carbon fiber Wheels and full Brembo brakes. By that point you should probably have just about the baddest bike in town
I know this video is a few months old so Im hoping you see this. Any recommendations for a place to flash tune my R1? I want to send my ECU out I just want to make sure I send it to a good place.
This is why I’m waiting to purchase the 2021 ZX10R because that bike is so restricted up top it would be annoying riding it unflashed. Plus I want the aftermarket to be fully stocked with parts for it so I can mod it.

So you’re crying about Yamaha for not giving you permission to make their already fast motorcycle even faster? That hardly sounds like a valid point as to why not to buy a R1 and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really care for the R1.
I have a 2020 R1 as well. Currently has a race pipe. Still waiting on a legit tuner to be released. I know when it does you'll be the person I hear about it from. Lost a lot of top end taking that cat and pipe off, but man does it sound like pure sex. I don't need to tell you. There's no way I'm putting that cat back on though, unless I need warranty work of course. : - )
Maybe it’s because I don’t ride sport bikes. It doesn’t really matter to me. If it performs how I want stock and I can change the exhaust without getting a ton of decel pop. I’m happy. I’d be more unhappy if there wasn’t any aftermarket support to make the bike more comfortable and usable. I’m not a fabricator so I rely on the aftermarket for that stuff.
Have to disagree here. Locking down the ECU is a liability thing.. If they just opened it right up, they might open themselves to be liable for people screwing up their bikes. It’s a tough spot for them. It also will be unlocked eventually by a smart person and I think that is important. Technology changes and the aftermarket market is always a step behind in the motorcycle market. They need to step up and invest in smart people who can crack it. I guarantee there is the knowledge out there to do so.
I got the 2020 r1. And its totally stock and it wows everyone that sees it. Except for its incredibly quiet exhaust and cat. But 2wycked still smokes most of the competition regardless. 198 horsepower isnt a joke. But yes, an ECU flash would be nice.

@@asphaltannihilator157 True but just funny how privileged it sounds "Oh my 197hp track monster of a motorcycle that can go three times the speed limit in 1st gear can't be unlocked for better performance, it's a bad bike"
@@asphaltannihilator157 That's true, I agree.
It's costing me ALL my savings but I'm picking up an 03 R1 on Saturday lol
Is all you do is riding in a straight line doing pulls?
what I commented. rides in a straight line all day and wants more power from an already insane fast bike...blows my mind
let people ride how they want
I kind of sort of bought a 2021 R1 today 🤷🏻♀️ pick it up tomorrow 10am. I’m so excited but I’m also full of anxiety lol.. it’s a huge purchase for a bike and it’s new and I squeal, blush, and get butterflies every time I see it. Currently drive a 05 R1, first bike. Still nervous to get on this thing.
Already secured financing for 2021 zx10r but waiting until ecu gets unlocked before I make the jump....
Moore mafia did it last week check him out
just got out of a coma from a ladie running a stop sign and side swiping me and watching your videos always makes me wanna ride i almost died but ill still be out on 2 wheels again
Welcome back to the land of the living, fren. Hope your dreams were amazing in your stasis.
Hell I did it was great getting back on 2's
Well you can flash it now, I’m having mine flashed
Don’t buy it…I love it…I don’t get it? You love it but don’t buy it?
The framerate hurts my brain
Yeah should’ve went 60fps for this video. Too much movement to be below 60fps.
I hate 60fps
@@motonosity you freak of nature
@@motonosity but you are not the one watching the videos
@@scyra9997 I don’t watch my videos? Bro what??
Just got a speeding ticket here in Dallas while listening to this video... 88 in a 60
But also tho, imagine not recommending a bike because you cant ecu-flash it.
Great vid man, but I think it's still a bike you should have a ride on in your life. Its soooo cool looking.
Me being happy that I'm getting my first bike tomorrow... (Sherco SMR 50cc, cuz of European regulations)
Motonosity: I'm not happy my R1 can't go faster!
( No hate, just funny to me)
As fun as the big bore bike are, theres always more fun to be had on the small bikes. You can beat the shit out of them without getting too stupid fast. I still never had as much fun as I have had on my old 1980 GS450.
i got the 20R1 just put on my austin racing GP1RR de-cat exhaust system sounds like a super lion feels amazing but all i can do right now is use someone's address so i can buy a power commander California doesn't allow pc here some bs but love the bike and sound ive hit 186MPH at stock
worth the wait tho
Hi pal thats some insane quality, wanted to ask which camera you using ? Thanks
i don't think i'll ever buy a 1000.
Have you looked into the mt07, great bike and honestly I ride fast too but that’s just me, I stay away from cars and stick to the highway and windy roads

So what bike do u recommend a litre bike which is comfortable than other super bikes and still able to to track day like an enthusiast
0:00 like waking up a monster 🔥🔥😭
Tuning is everything these days. Most the bikes on the market barely let the throttle bodies fully open even when 100% (rpm limited)
I love your videos man! Makes me miss my R6 with all this canadian snow!!
Hope you're finding some positives in it dude! I'd trade ya for a white winter.
Well, if you strugle with the electronics, get a Kit ECU and programm it.
That would be one of the easiest ways to get to that point.
@Motonosity - With this sense, if you changed the exhaust and cat delete -will it damage the engine of the r1 by having only the stock ECU?
Is showing the speed not a problem unless you show your plate?
you can show your speed. people on yt do illegal stunts, 200 mph rides, police chases, and show their faces.. thats dumb, but still, they do it. i ride slightly illegally and dont show my face and plate. cops could get my ip if they wanted to but thered be no reason for them to do that unless i was uploading like a drug deal
I love the video’s!!! I just got a 2021 R1 2 weeks ago, I love it it’s always been my dream bike since the 09 R1 raven addition. But I’m coming from an R3 so there’s a big difference for me then what you feel from 1,000 cc to another 1,000 cc 🏍
Absolutely man! I'm confident it'll EVENTUALLY get unlocked haha. But you've got a lot of bike to enjoy until then.
@@motonosity Right!!!! Smiling ear to ear the entire time
Thats my one of the reason why I cant buy the new R1. I’d rather have the 17-19 R1.
Hi dude what’s the name and address of the garage you went to ?
I would definitely buy the new R1, flash or no flash...it looks great and sounds amazing and it competes well against the competition in every bike comparison test on the track I've seen. It's still a track slayer stock, ill be aight. 😏
Ya id buy the r1 knowing i couldnt flash it.
Sup brother. What camera and audio setup are you using for your vids? I’m going to do vids like this this year.
What are your gopro settings to get that amazing effect when your riding? I cant get this quality on my hero 5 black 😭😭😭

What Camera are you using to record on your motorcycle pal looks Mega
I'm pretty sure they don't want you to flash that bike. My evidence is based on the Snowmobiles. Those are instantly unlockable. You can tune them up to 270HP with just a ECU re-flash straight out of the box. Why you can't do that with the bikes?
Is this problem fixed with the 2023?
that looks like more bike than the majority of riders can realistically handle. why you would be wanting to get rid of it because you cant hack it to get more speed out of it is beyond me.
I’m buying a Yamaha R1…2015 and below with the twin exhaust but not the cross plane because somebody told me that it has starting problems…cranking or some issues…is this true?…thanks in advance
I'd love to see a pitbike supermoto build for fun 👍😂

Man just love the thumbnail. And you write don't buy the new R1.😂
So basically if you put exhaust on it, you can’t tune it for the exhaust?
I don't think the main issue is getting into the ecu. Its all the tables they have now and working out what they do and what there for.
Just make a lil money and/ or get a older r1 as long as its crossplain there all beautiful anyways 🤷♂️💯🤘
can't you just take the R1 to a Yamaha dealer and they can download whatever tune you want into the ECU? I realize it's not the same as putting your bike on the dyno, but I think if tell them your riding style and what exhaust you put on, they can get pretty close.
Then again, I'm not into modern bikes, I still ride one with a carburetor, LOL
Had to wait two years for a company to finally support my bike. It’s incredibly frustrating
So now that they have a ECU flash out for it have you done that yet
The lack of defensive lane positioning is so off putting
Yo I need advice. Will be in the market for a little bike coke spring, stuck on Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. Which one do y’all prefer and why? ( I’m leaning torwards Honda )

Let Chris Moore look at it.down at Moore Mafia.
I'm pretty sure he can straighten out the ECU so the throttle will quit bouncing
What tires are you running? They kinda look like the q3 but a bit different?
I have never had that weird noise come from my bike while letting go off throttle. Also, my 2020 R1 is flashed
Dude how long does it take you to process and ship orders ? Goin on 2 weeks since I ordered and paid ! What up ?
You need to redo this... Out of date

Yes I would buy it just gotta be patient for the flash
Yeah i bought mine back in July. Really pissed about the restricted ECU

Your bike seems like it’s running great. What is it exactly your wanting to do in the ecu? Just curious
Never mind you basically just answered my question lol 😂
So you’re crying about Yamaha for not giving you permission to make their already fast motorcycle even faster? That hardly sounds like a valid point as to why not to buy a R1 and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really care for the R1.
What RPM do the R1's sit on at 110km/h or I think 70+ mpr?
I got my 2020 r1 in February of 2020. Love the bike but the no flash 1.5 years later still hurts lol.
Can you do a new bike build but go to the max like Jaret Campisi?
I have a 2020 R1 as well. Currently has a race pipe. Still waiting on a legit tuner to be released. I know when it does you'll be the person I hear about it from. Lost a lot of top end taking that cat and pipe off, but man does it sound like pure sex. I don't need to tell you. There's no way I'm putting that cat back on though, unless I need warranty work of course. : - )
looks like bren tunning has a ecu flash 191whp with exhaust ! , did it come out after this video ?
Wait, I don't get it... Are American ecu's restricted in some way?
I got the 2020 r1. And its totally stock and it wows everyone that sees it. Except for its incredibly quiet exhaust and cat. But 2wycked still smokes most of the competition regardless. 198 horsepower isnt a joke. But yes, an ECU flash would be nice.
I wouldn't buy a sport bike that couldn't be flashed. What is the point of that ?
What is the business model behind making your ECU un crackable?
How many times have you fallen off a bike?
