I'm asking about how to compose a video, put it together, while editing. What is B Roll, where to add it to a video? Syncing audio & video. Tips on what to cut from a video, how to add graphics or special effects. Things like that. Thanks

Great video Brian. Lots of great info. I would agree refurbished is the way to go with hero 5 and up but the 4s I have returned more than I can count. Best to just buy brand new and go with the protection plan. Good luck next week. Cody is always on the fish.
@@AnglingAnarchy A lot of the ones I had couldnt hold a charge at 1080/120 even when I connected externally. The brand new one isnt without its faults either.
Thank you for a very informative video. Doing this right costs a lot of money. I rent a slip at a marina and would have to take all the equipment off for security reasons. I am assuming all of the equipment runs in the 10’s of thousands of dollars.

Matt, a lot of folks shoot in wide so they can zoom in post edit, but then don't zoom. You can shoot on linear or other modes so it does not seem far away.

@@AnglingAnarchy I do have one question, I’m noticing that when using the gopros, the batteries die super fast, so I got an external power brick, I notice a lot of people using those.. is it just normal for it to not charge while recording? Or am I missing a step or something so that it’s always charging?
@@kylemurray7086 which model GoPro are you hooking up to an external power source? That will make a difference on how to have them hooked up to an external power source. Pat Thompson are you looking for what I use for the chest mount? I'll try to find it but honestly it was just a cheap dead cat for a larger shotgun mic that I cut pieces off of to glue in place over the GoPro mic on the aluminum housing for the gopro.

I understand the ones on the side to get the follows and boatside strikes, but I'm wondering about the ones for shooting in the boat. My partner complains when I put the Yolo in the back because it hinders figure 8s and fighting fish. Thanks, bro!
Fishing with JC The cameras that film the bow and stern of the boat are about 6 feet up on a piece of metal conduit that's positioned on the starboard side of the boat approximately in the middle. It's out of the way for the most part. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. One additional question...you said you have your side cameras set to 1080 120. When you pull those into your editing software and you're using 24p or 30p on your timeline, how do you go from normal speed to slow motion without having your normal speed footage looking choppy due to the difference in fratimeliness. Thanks again for helping us newbs.
@Fishing with JC No problem! So when you pull the 120 fps into say 24p timeline, the software will just grab every 5th frame, and it will look just fine. Same with 60 fps, it will just grab 24 frames to use out of the 60. So you can put different fps clips into the timeline, and it's all going to render to whatever you have your timeline set to. Then with slow motion, say for the 120 fps into a 24p timeline, a clip could be slowed down 5x while still maintaining 24 fps and it will look nice and smooth. Hope that makes sense, sometimes it's hard to convey what I'm thinking in my brain to the written word 😅

gary peters For me, not at all. In fact I find it enhances the experience for me. I find the process of filming/editing to be just as compelling as fishing. It's definitely not for everyone though!
Isaiah Bettinger I use Cyberlink Powerdirector 15. I believe the newest version is 19. It's a very powerful piece of software for the price. Goes for around $100.
Like that idea of a lure box for batteries, mounts, etc. Great video.
