    I love your videos. I do “normal” garment sewing but just find your projects incredibly fascinating. Your voice and music is also so calming to me. I’m very much looking forward to your “collection” ❤

    I've been crazy about this channel since I first discovered it, I think back around the OFMD coat. I remember that arm seam! I was enthralled yet thinking "the woman is barking mad." 😉 I'd seen several others' attempts at the project. In fact, it might be how I found you. At any rate, not a single one of them even come close to holding a candle to what you created. I was so impressed. And then the stays out of lace scraps...O.M.G. I was hooked.
    So fair to say I just adore your content. It's so -- what's the word I want -- fresh in it's combination of technical, whimsical, historical, and artistic while down-to-earth and relatable. Truly looking forward with great anticipation to what you have in store for this year. Girl, you rock! ❤‍🔥
    Edited to add Ellie is absolutely darling!

    Your channel found me not so long ago and I have been enjoying your content immensely. As a fabric crafter, I enjoy watching your process and your modern take on historical clothing. I would love to see more on knitting and knitting machine since I have one I would like to use more. Looking forward to see what you create going forward. Keep it up because there are a lot of us out there with similar interest to yours and I’m sure they will find you or their algorithm will.

    I grew up in academia & find so much (extra) joy in the physicality of making, especially as a translation of ideas. Very much enjoy watching what feels like snippets of how you transform your research, environment, past/present, dreams, theories, experiments, expertise+, into joyful tangible wearable magnificent/mundane objects d'art. Glad you are deciding to continue & look forward to whatever you share, as how you share is part of what's great about your channel. (I agree with others that the background music can be distracting. Your music is great, & great for open/closing, transitions & such. Is it needed at all while you are speaking? Feels a bit like going to a great lecture while someone in the audience is playing something else over speakerphone. Your words fill the space well & don't need the extra adornment.)

      Thank you! And oh no! I specifically turned down the volume on this one because I’ve had that feedback before- looks like I need to make further adjustments! (Or maybe the leveling software I’m using is leveling both my voice and the music?) I’ll have to experiment. Thank you so much for your feedback!

    Going through creating a fashion collection is a very exciting idea! I do love some randomness but there is something appealing about pulling together a crowd of influences to craft a cohesive single body of work.

      but realized that I had had neither the talent nor the necessary ambition to accomplish it. I became a librarian (no regrets) but I kept my interest in fashion, sewing for myself & my kids, adjusting commercial patterns to suit my 'designs'. I don't sew anymore. Your ability to connect the historical & modern & to share your process so clearly is exciting. I envy your university students. Thank you for your channel.

    I love your channel! The Vionnet dress really did it for me. However, all your videos offer a new and interesting way to create. I'm a woman of a certain age, pretty nondescript in my dressing, but my dream is to infuse Japanese and Korean traditions into fun clothes. Where I might wear such creations, I do not yet know. I guess I'll have to look for more places to go. Thank you for making fashion accessible to all of us!

    Don't let people tell you that it's 'not worth it' to be on RUclips unless you make versions types of content and meet a certain posting schedule and get boosted by the algorithm. Some of my favourite channels just post weird, idiosyncratic, fascinating stuff whenever it suits the creator, and I'm really excited when something new from them comes up in my subscription feed. I've also seen really great channels fall to creator burnout cos they were trying to meet those expectations, which is sad. Look forward to more of you doing you 👍
    (Also your dog is adorable & I hope she soon learns the correct spot to pee in 😛)

  • @bohemiansusan2897
    @bohemiansusan2897 Год назад

    I look forward to seeing what you do this year. I found you due to a RUclips suggestion based on some of my subscriptions. Most sewing channels just spit out hand made clothes on a fast fashion model. I appreciate the mindfulness of your approach.
    I love historical clothing but only if it can be combined with my contemporary wardrobe. I love clothes and am a bit of a fashionista. However the size of my wardrobe is quite small. This ensures less waste of money and fabric. I control the quality in both construction and assembly. That is my biggest motivator. Also because I don't have much disposable income. Besides its no fun to look like everyone else.

    • @anotherdreamgonewest
      @anotherdreamgonewest  Год назад +2

      I agree it’s more fun to be unique, and I’ve also had my own misgivings about the RUclips making model. It’s tough because there is so much pressure to post regularly. Comparing it to fast fashion is a good comparison. At this point I’m mostly excited to explore how to incorporate historical ideas into a modern wardrobe in a cohesive way, while being mindful of impacts. We’ll see how it goes!

    • @bohemiansusan2897
      @bohemiansusan2897 Год назад

      @@anotherdreamgonewest I know of a lot of content creators who post the end of month wrap up and show between 6-12 garments and this constantly. Some do this for years on end. That is the fast fashion model. It boggles my mind that the garment is only worn once or twice and deemed old after a year or two and then it's tossed into the trash.
      One I followed often made an item a week but things for charity, her family and once in a while maybe something for herself. That is ok to me nor is it excessive. Several years back, I saw a few articles on the size of the wardrobe for normal mortals from the 40s. It was a shock but also opened my to today's reality.
      I bought an early Butterick 60s pattern and am intrigued by the vestees that were worn in that era. Been trying to find out more but no luck. However I will make maybe two or three for myself. I love cigarettes pants too. Found out the hard way that the most flattering clothes for my rectangular figure are quite fitted. It creates the illusion of curves.
      I will wear a poet shirt with jeans, velvet blazer and granny boots or Doc Martens. Another time, a pelisse with a pencil skirt, boat neck top and a Tudor era men's hat. That is how I do it. I've often worn Victorian era bodices as a ordinary blouse.
      I wish you the best in your sewing journey. Mine is all over the place.

    Aww…Ella is so cute! She will definitely keep you company and and a set of ears that will listen as you chatter when you work. I totally understand about the sudden loss of a dog that is special. I lost one a few years ago suddenly while I was a patient in the hospital. She had just turned 7 and was seen the week before for her annual. She was healthy and then she was just gone. We were fortunate to have two of her puppies from her liters. But, to be honest, they were as heartbroken as we were. As you can sense, I still grieve over her loss.
    I look forward to seeing how your channel progresses. It has very much inspired me to take out my sewing machine again. But, my projects will be scaled down to doll size.
    I think you’re an inspiration to those of us that want to create. We get to see the whole process and your thoughts and vision for each project.

    I love your videos, your vibes, your aesthetic, your humour so much. The only thing I have to say, and I'm super ashamed of but I thought, let's get it out, is most of the time I'm not able to watch them until the end because the "background" music is actually pretty loud. I have hearing disorder and it's really hard on me but I still love you content so much! I wonder if anybody else faces the same issue and how they deal with it? Is there a software I can use so I can still watch your videos but remove the music or tone it down? Thanks to anybody who could help me on this
