    I had a lot of fun filming this video with my good friend Chris from Dirty Tesla. This was filmed in summer 2023 in Michigan. Check out his video with me reacting to Tesla Self Driving Beta ruclips.net/video/kGA-ArRM5r4/видео.html

      Not a Tesla fan at all. It's bad enough that the automobile industry doesn't even make manual transmissions anymore (might still be a few of them around). Saw a Porsche the other day that had an automatic transmission in it. Oh, my goodness! Couldn’t believe it. Now they don't even want you to do the driving anymore with the advance of self-driving electric cars. And Tesla is on the forefront of such technology. Only possible benefit of such vehicles would be safety, if technology could one day produce an accident-free driving environment for all motorists. Grew up with muscle cars in the 50s and 60s. If you couldn't drive a "stick shift," you were a no body. Nowadays, you are a no body if you don't drive a Tesla. Love seeing people who live in very modest homes or apartments rush out to buy one of those expensive cars--likely going into a mountain of debt to try to look cool. But life is short. If driving a Tesla makes you happy and you can afford it, then go for it!

      I’m not a fan of cars in general, especially new ones. But some Teslas are under $40K, which I guess is not considered expensive these days. Where I live gas is very expensive and PV power very cheap. Neighbors say the premium paid for Teslas is recovered in a few years if you drive much and have PV on your roof. The people I know with EVs aren’t particularly tree huggers, but they say they don’t plan on ever buying another gasoline powered car. Probably different opinions in places with cheap gas, few chargers, and cold winters though.

      Chris has some cool videos on his channel talking about the financial aspect. He has solar power on his house and that really makes having a Tesla save you money in the long run.

    It’s definitely going to be a huge difference in power delivery and responsiveness between a hub drive and a mid drive. Although I suppose the Brompton Electric is a front hub drive and does have a more mid-drive style response. So it’s maybe more to do with the price difference than the hub design being inherently worse. At least in terms of responsiveness. As far as torque, they’re probably still lacking a bit.
    And just in general, it’s always nice to see people riding e-bikes for the first time. It’s always a joyful experience for them and for seasoned riders who get reminded of when they first rode one.

    Oh boy, you were having so much fun !
    I am seriously considering getting a fat tyre bike to cushion me from the endless bumps and potholes on the country lanes where I usually ride, which seem to rattle your body from head to toe.. The difficulty is that it is so hard to find a mid motor version without throttle because I really want a proper workout with just a bit of help on nasty slopes. I wonder if anyone could recommend any.

    Am sure e-bikes can be a lot of fun. Enjoyed seeing you and your buddy testing them out a bit. Personally, wouldn't buy one of those bikes because they'd do little for my fitness level-obviously, the power pack does some or even a lot of the work for you. If the rider is not that concerned about fitness, then that's different-just enjoy the fun an e-bike can provide. Who knows? Maybe a video on how to get a good workout on an e-bike might make a believer out of some diehard cyclists that love to pedal.

    I thought I had traveled a lot, but your videos were the first time I ever knew about the dirt roads in the Detroit area. For some reason I find this really fascinating, I don't know of any other major urban area that has such extensive dirt roads like this. Usually it's just some random road here and there that is really low volume and doesn't have any houses.

    • @TwoWheelCruise
      @TwoWheelCruise  4 месяца назад

      This is just scratching the surface, there are hundreds of miles of residential dirt roads like this in Metro Detroit. Most of them are at least 20 miles outside of the city center though, but Metro Detroit is massive

    Love the 24/26 pound eBikes all the major bicycle manufacturer produce. Fat tire bikes the young kids ride here in the states can not be covered by insurance now in many euro-countries. And There are areas that have outlawed the fat tire bicycles on cycling trails in the states (other youtube cycling are indicating registration and insurance regulations are coming to the eBike cycling community) .
    I purchased an eBike in 2021 because I could not rent one here in Las Vegas. Purchased a KBO Stealth Hurricane, single speed belt drive. Have about 8,768 miles on the bicycle now, the 250 watt motor is only assist without a throttle. Bicycle weight was 37.7 pounds when first assembled, that was to heavy for me to easily carry up and down three flights of stairs. Changing out the heavy front wheel and tire, along with everything I could replace with substantial lighter weight product, I managed to reduce the weight to 32 pounds that I can carry from third floor to street level.
    5 pounds, does not seem like much, but it made a large difference in transporting eBike up and down the stairs. In econ the range is 43 miles with mostly flat pavement, kicking up the assist level extends the climbing ability, but my eBike does not have a torque sensor, the eBike only has a cheap cadence sensor. I did add a carbon fiber fork, and drop bars that took away the road buzz from smooth pavement the alloy front end produced.
    I look forward to higher capacity compact battery size, with less worry about overheating in the future. I hope my internal eBike battery can be replaced to extend the range to carry my 220 pounds 70/80 miles, instead of the limiting 43 miles. I will also keep looking for a generic Carbon Fiber Frame to increase the ride quality, I have test ridden the 33 pound "Ride1up" Gravel version, with a smaller battery than my KBO. The Ride1up gravel is nice riding eBike example, but unfortunately it does not have a Torque Sensor that makes climbing hills much easier.

      I am curious to try one of the lighter style ebikes with smaller wheels. With some of the speeds that these bikes can go, it makes sense that some new regulations may be needed. It's definitely not safe at high speeds on shared paths with walkers and limited space.

    Thanks for the video. I might need one of these in the next 15 years but find the speeds that these go as dangerous for those of us that ride conventional bikes on a trail and for pedestrians. I generally refer to these as electric scooters. Cheers!

    Why are there so many unpaved roads there? I tried my first ebike in Taiwan, they now have electric youbikes in Kaohsiung. It was a lot of fun. Not a lot of hills in NJ though so I don't know if it's worth the high price.
