What a beautiful and perfect singing voice Ms. Bowden has. My father used to play this version of Sergio Mendes & Brasil ‘77 on our family turntable as a child. Always wondered if she was beautiful as she sounded. Glad to have finally confirmed that she is.
She sang live at my dad's house for his Charity "Inspired Notes" which helps buy instruments for children, as well as instruction. She was awesome. It was a very comfortable and close concert in his large backyard. She's really "down home" and totally unpretentious.
Just a blessing to see "vintage Bonnie" with her pop classic...she is even more beautiful and vocally wondrous today in her acclaimed jazzy renderings on recording and on stage!

KQUE, a now-defunct radio station that once broadcast from Houston, Texas, gave me the gift of this song. And, many others. They regularly played old hit songs by Pat Boone, Dinah Washington, Patti Page, Jo Stafford, and otSo many. I started listening to it in around 1978, I think. They played Big Band hits on Sunday evening. If they hadn't, several wonderful treasures in their box would have remained unopened for me. Sergio M sure knows how to pick 'em. His songs, the instrumentalists, and his incredible singers always struck gold in one form or the other. Too bad for me (or good for me?), although I'd seen this video before, I suddenly see that Ms Bowden has very- similar feminine eyes as that of a very-dear, departed old friend of mine. I wasn't expecting that. Life wore her out. And, they said her heart just stopped. She died far-before her time. This song has a different feel to other I've heard by him. They say it's good and prudent to reinvent yourself from time to time. Good for them. Although sad, this song whispers to me like a lullaby. I was right the singer in green is Lani Hall i know that face anywhere since I was born in 1952 and I was 14 when the fabulous Brazil '66 first hit with the incredible Lani Hall who married Herb Alpert of the Tijuana Brass
Gracinha would be surprised to learn that she has been impersonated by Lani Hall in this video...And Lani stopped singing in this group in 1971, years before this song was even recorded.
