@@KalvinPatel well I'm basically just doing what Kurt is suggesting to do on this channel. I don't know if I have mich to add. I think the trick to making something happen is immediate action. Just schedule your first acting class or workshop within the next hour and go from there.
Thank you for this, Kurt. I've started private acting lessons with actor Rod Rowland back in 2019. I initially signed up for 20 sessions with him, but only finished 6 of the 20. I got in my own head and imposter syndrome had set in and I walked away before I even started. It is now 2024, and I could not stop thinking about being an actor. I've been thinking about getting back into it, but this time taking my time and truly enjoy the art of acting rather than stressing over trying to memorize my lines or get a character or scene right and rushing through the process.
Love your videos, Kurt. I’m finishing up a 2 year Meisner conservatory here in NYC. Your videos had a huge impact on where I chose to study, congratulations
Congrats Kurt! 🎉🎊 Thank you so much for making these videos, it’s been my dream since I was six to become an actor. Now I’m twelve and finally convinced my parents to let me go do something about it. I seriously don’t know where I’d be without you- thank you so much for all of your advice, you’re such a role model to future actors. I’m really lucky to live near Atlanta, hope to meet you one day. I can’t thank you enough :)
10:30 I personally think number 8 is a huge one! I was serving tables and bartending and auditioning in ATL all of 2021 and I let most other areas of my life take the back burner. I realize now there is more to life than just acting!
Congratulations on 15 years Kurt! I’m 15 years old going into 16. I’m actually planning on doing acting for my career, but I had no idea where to start so I started looking up RUclips videos on how to start acting and came across one of your videos on “How to Become an Actor with No Experience” l absolutely loved it. I plan on starting after I finish high school, because of the limited availability that I have, but still thinking about starting earlier. I’m glad my parents are supporting this decision of pursuing acting as my career. I really do need motivation. Again, congratulations on 15 years Kurt!
I’m 38 and started acting classes in December here in the UK in Nottingham. Since then I’ve had pro headshots, screen acting course and filmed a couple of pro showreel scenes and had my first self tape audition for a local short film. Just wanted to say that your videos have been so amazingly helpful to me and want to say a huge thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us all 😊
Being a little over a year since you posted this.. congrats for 16 years! :) I am starting my own journey into voice over and have been finding your videos really helpful!
So glad I'm finding this channel right before I'm gonna start my acting career. I'm 14 and I wanna be an actor and I'm gonna start taking acting classes. Thank you for getting me ready kurt.
Wonderful advice. Thank you so much for compiling this. I love it! The "make your own content" is great, but I'd say the vast majority of people don't have the skills to shoot and edit scenes that are beyond embarrassing. So they can partner with aspiring filmmakers who know how to shoot, light, and record audio, AND who are developing THEIR own portfolios. Also I'd say, making entire short films is unnecessary. It's likely better for the actor AND the filmmaker to have a variety of SCENES with different tonalities and different characters. That way, when they edit their demo reels together, they look like they've done more things and can handle a variety of tones and styles. My two cents on top of your masterful list. Thanks again! I love your smart, helpful ideas!
Congratulations on 15 years Kurt, well done! Thanks for the age support. 😂 I acted professionally from the age of 19 to 45 (studied at AADA, then Hollywood, then working/studying in Toronto). Then I took a long long break. I am now 66 and coming back!! Started with some BG work to get my feet wet again and have now had some nice film auditions. No bookings yet but the self tape experience is invaluable. I'm back in classes for sure - I love training and know how much confidence it brings. I also know how much new life experience I bring into this phase of my journey. Thank you for your videos, they're so on point and perfect for anyone at any stage of their development. Maybe see you on set one day!! 😊🎬
I love this so much. I am feeling so lost. I have wanted to do theatre and acting since I was a child but always made myself swallow my dreams and tuck them into a corner of my soul. I think this year I will take the leap and take a class to meet some new friends and have a fun time. Life is too short to play by imaginary rules and go after the things I don’t even want in life. I want excitement, fun, and creative outlets. I want to write and act and direct so why not go for it! I hope any other 20 somethings watching this video get the courage to live as their authentic selves ❤❤❤
