Morale of the story: NEVER tell any family member how much you make or what you have. In fact, lead them all to think that you’re struggling or else you’ll continue to have someone showing up with their hands out. And if you don’t give it, the rest of the family will shame you for not helping family. My husband and I have dealt with it always with his parents and 4 sisters and their husbands. They all gamble, waste money and had kids they couldn’t afford, then expected us to share with them what we work hard for. If they knew we had something they were asking to borrow it and they never return anything they borrow.
It's amazing how some parents can be so disconnected until they realize the impact of their absence. Sometimes it takes a big move for them to finally wake up!
The poster is an adult, and the school will not give the father any information about any student, even the poster, and no way can the father removed the poster from school.

Family is the people in your life that feel like home to you. Blood relations don't matter. If they don't fulfill the function of family, they aren't family.
This golden child story is kinda ridiculous. Like when you pay tuition, you pay it to a bill from the academic institution. The dad never did that? Logged into an account? Got a paper bill? It’s ridiculous.
In all honesty it says a lot about the quality of parenting when they don’t even know that you graduated a year ago. Then not even realizing you went to a whole other school lol. Sad on their part.
@beth1412001 what prestigious college had a 2 year program? How can a parent disenroll someone from college (parent can tell the kid he won't pay) what college would look up the kids records for the parent - that is illegal. This story is cute but rather fake, so of course there are holes in it. Though I have to say when I went back to school I was on my own my parents wouldn't know unless I told them.
Do not think that they can but they could if they had Financial control over their child's account. It's kind of similar to financial aid in a way and they could pull financial support from their child and that would kind of push the child back when it came to scheduling classes. At the community College they used to go to you had to basically pay a percentage of the money that you owe before you can schedule yourself for classes. There's also payment plans but not a lot of people would want to go into debt trying to get a degree that they might not even use. It is very legal depending on the situation and if the parents have Control over their child (the student's) account. Like financial aid a parent can make an account to make sure that their child is able to get Government assistance or even grants because you have to have your parents income tax records.

You are an adult. How could your father withdrawal you from college? At best if you are underage, they would go after the person responsible for tuition for any money owed. Otherwise they don't care if no money is owed. That's why I think this whole story is made up. They don't know the details.
(Even though this is probably fake…) OP should have at least given back the money he had gotten after he graduated because that money was for college and since he was no longer in college the fact he was taking it could be used against him. After that there would be no reason to worry about them at all.
1. He (in theory) probably spent the money on books and ancillary college fees. 2. They would have asked him for help regardless, when their lives blew up. Even if he were poor.

One of the most important things these reddit stories have taught me is what NOT to do as a parent. My thoughts and prayers to the people who have to deal with this kind of thing.
There's always 2 sides. I can believe this guy THINKS his family was ignorant of him, believing they had a favourite child and ignored all of his suggestions, and there's a chance they did, but there's also a chance that maybe he was just a dick to them and his brother due to jealousy, and there's some evidence for this theory in the post. There are some subtle things I find odd with the whole story that actually sound very familiar to me from my behavioural psychology background, and to play Devil's advocate for a moment I might offer a slightly different narrative based on some clues from the transcript. Note this is just an alternative theory for entertainment purposes only, I'm not discrediting their version of events nor condoning abusive behaviour, but simply offering up an explanation for his family's seemingly unprovoked animosity towards him. Narcissists, autistic individuals or those with diminished social skills often convince themselves that they're the ones hard done by and how they're blameless in all conflicts and arguments. Note the OP apparently did absolutely nothing wrong to incur his parents neglect, they just seemingly had a preference since he was a baby. Memories of events vary wildly between those who experienced it based on their emotions of the time. Somehow I suspect his family would tell a very different story, and that they might for example claim he was in fact arrogant, rude, antisocial (often attributed to individuals who suffer from diminished social skills due to some undiagnosed behavioural or learning issue) and therefore just kind of wanted him out of the house, which is the only reason I can believe his father would continuing paying for part of his college education - if they were truly neglectful or uncaring, why pay for anything at all? And why would they want him home so badly for his brother's wedding if they truly didn't care? OP gives a later explanation for this, but at the time they wouldn't have known about his apparent success. The fact he was supposedly able to get such a high paying job so soon after graduation on a scholarship, screams abnormally intelligent. Again issues associated with limited social abilities often come with a very high IQ (e.g. sociopaths); note he never once mentioned any friends or social networks he had made after leaving his family in his posting - he often repeated how intelligent and how successful he is in terms of career, but not in his social standing. Just rings some familiarity to me. I mean, there's also the fact he's writing an entire documentary on Reddit of all places (not to label all Reddit users as having limited social skills, but it's a stereotype) but the post is not looking for advice, but in fact seems to boast. He posts 'updates' less than 24hrs later. instead of getting advice from actual friends like most would, he seems to delight in his recalling his deception of his parents and revelling in their anger (which I would argue is proportionally appropriate) for lying to them about his whereabouts and taking their money under false pretenses. Another clear sign is him repeatedly claiming how sad he is that his relationship with his family is like this, but notes how they repeatedly tried to connect as he kept shutting them down. Obviously OP believes they were perhaps jealous of him (and often rationalised argument in such conditions already mentioned) and they wanted to use his new wealth for their own benefit. Maybe it's true, but I can honestly see how someone with social deficiencies can completely fail to read the room and instead insert their own prejudicial reasoning after having convinced himself they don't really care and therefore they must have an ulterior motive for reconnecting. Is a shame really, especially since not once did he talk about trying to reach out to them instead or explain his animosity towards them. Obviously you would ask why should a person reach out to them if they're the ones hard done by, but he stated no less than 3 times he is clearly unhappy with how 'things turned out' but I heard of no attempts to reconcile from his end - and goes out of his way to actually make it difficult for them to contact him. OP mentions they found out where he lived and showed up unannounced. OP claims he doesn't know how they found out, but this is fishy to me because you simply don't go through the expense of buying plane tickets for 3 people (especially if apparently they are apparently penniless) to travel that far without the guarantee that you A: actually KNOW where they live, and B: are sure they're going to be in to answer the door on the day you arrive, otherwise it would be an entirely wasted trip. Anyway , this is just another take on the whole account based on what was in the post, who knows for sure, but was all entertaining nonetheless. Hope you enjoyed.
I assumed he was venting and doing the whole victim mentality of poor me look what I have to deal with. I am curious what sickly child means. I've heard some people refer to autistic children as sickly which is horrible to me. As for movie nights if you believe your ignored hard done by it's possible he just suggested movies not suitable for his younger brother.
this video was really engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat. but honestly, I can't help but think it's a bit strange that your parents didn't notice such a big change. I mean, moving states is a huge deal! how could they not check in more? it kinda makes me wonder about their relationship with you.
Some parents are really like that or worse, I know some who care only about their sons and not daughters, they literally cut off their daughters and neglected them because they think they have no value
I would record this again because it makes no sense. I would suggest to the parents stop burning your money in your kids, especially this one, and enjoy life for once in 20 years.
Despite this being AI generated, this could indeed happen kinda like described here. If you have a family which is supporting you - consider yourself blessed!
My father cut off my college money because I wasn't going fast enough, wasn't taking enough classes. I worked full time & paid for everything but tuition. He stopped paying & offered to pay off my brothers student loans. True story. Bastard.
Regardless of the fakeness of the scenario, if I'm in this person's position one of the reasons I want to go to a different school is because I'm projecting at least some degree of what "actually" winds up happening (making 10x more) That said, once I commit to essentially lying (by omission) to my father because that's frankly what needs to happen, the plan begins. I use (I am a college kid after all) but keep a record of every dollar he gives me. Then, as my career begins to flourish (read: as my pay increases) I only minimally increase (if that) my lifestyle and over time (it winds up being years and "I" was going for life, remember, with dad being the one to break the silence in this scenario) begin banking that which dad gave me Finally, when he inevitably blows up at me for what I've done (or, more accurately perhaps, the way I've done it), I give him every single dollar back in a lump sum
Well, the scholarship was just 70 percent, not a 100, and since that college is a lot more prestigious, I bet the money his dad sent him were almost completely used to pay that 30 percent. So, well, his dad sent him money to pay for college and he did pay for college with it. Anything leftover though - yeah, he definitely should have given that back.
I think the only thing I would do differently is. I would give the money back that the dad paid for college regardless of the justification that money was claimed under false pretenses. And technically its fraud. Plus that way, you can cut all ties cleanly since you don't owe them anything.
Why your still calling texting and contact them this is why I can’t believe these stories you’ve still want their validation you still want them to ignore you if I had a family that’s like yours I would never talk or be in contact with them
Didn't you watch or listen to the video? He was just in contact with them because they think he was still in college. After the parents found out the truth, he blocked them and was being contacted using different/ unknown phone number.
@@joshuarobertsmasculine3191Because going fully no contact with your parents it’s a very difficult thing to do psychologically and is very very often only a last resort even for those who know they are not cared about.
I have seen people go through this. There's a friend i have that is constantly gas lit by their mother and still has issues leaving them to their own devices. My friend feels guilty doing anything that might disappoint or anger their narcissistic mother. This may be a different situation, but most people still feel attached to toxic people.

I PREDICTED IT whenever ops mom called I was think do don’t they ask “what financial trouble are you in” then the aunt confirmed it
Smart guy lol. Always made the right decisions
this video was really engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat. but honestly, I can't help but think it's a bit strange that your parents didn't notice such a big change. I mean, moving states is a huge deal! how could they not check in more? it kinda makes me wonder about their relationship with you.
Some parents are really like that or worse, I know some who care only about their sons and not daughters, they literally cut off their daughters and neglected them because they think they have no value
lil brother always calling at the worst times and asking to go bowling "dot"
Fake vs real
Fake:
(This is a joke I’m not saying it’s fake I’m just making fun of the people who make the fake stories)
@@juanleon3875 it is most definitely fake. But we get drawn in.
Wait so was OPs father just throwing away money?
It seems that being the parents favorite child doesn't end well for either party. It does make for some strong independent people.
My bigback ass would come of the food XD
Me and my bestie be like:
There is no absolute way any of this is true
Roman's is as tyrannical as the real thing!
Take a drink whenever he says, "I mean"
i just wanna know how often his brother called him up to go bowling.
I love the way he stand s up for himself ❤❤❤
“I messaged my aunt my moms sister” like what that’s literately what an aunt is
I think he was clarifying that is was his maternal aunt, his mom's sister, and not his paternal aunt, his dad's sister.
You’ve seen someone call an old family friend aunt or uncle? Do you live under a rock?
Im not sure guilt tripping is the right phrase to use in regards to his mum texting him about his brothers weeding 😅
You should have bought the home and charged them rent.
I would record this again because it makes no sense. I would suggest to the parents stop burning your money in your kids, especially this one, and enjoy life for once in 20 years.
You think the neglected child is the problem??? Do you abuse your kids too?
Despite this being AI generated, this could indeed happen kinda like described here. If you have a family which is supporting you - consider yourself blessed!
My father cut off my college money because I wasn't going fast enough, wasn't taking enough classes. I worked full time & paid for everything but tuition. He stopped paying & offered to pay off my brothers student loans. True story. Bastard.
Be careful not to become your parents. Remember the song "Cat's in the Cradle".
Regardless of the fakeness of the scenario, if I'm in this person's position one of the reasons I want to go to a different school is because I'm projecting at least some degree of what "actually" winds up happening (making 10x more)
That said, once I commit to essentially lying (by omission) to my father because that's frankly what needs to happen, the plan begins. I use (I am a college kid after all) but keep a record of every dollar he gives me. Then, as my career begins to flourish (read: as my pay increases) I only minimally increase (if that) my lifestyle and over time (it winds up being years and "I" was going for life, remember, with dad being the one to break the silence in this scenario) begin banking that which dad gave me
Finally, when he inevitably blows up at me for what I've done (or, more accurately perhaps, the way I've done it), I give him every single dollar back in a lump sum
@@heilinstarling9436 fair point. Edited to reflect the change
This is so fake it’s physically painful
Yeah the part where he moves states away and yet they visited him to not get suspicious was just painfully like AI.
I agree, especially the part where they ask the dumbass question. 😂
The father wanted OP home to celebrate the GC wedding, not because he missed OP or something like that. Why would OP be excited about that at first?
I think the only thing I would do differently is. I would give the money back that the dad paid for college regardless of the justification that money was claimed under false pretenses. And technically its fraud. Plus that way, you can cut all ties cleanly since you don't owe them anything.
Scholarships check your parents income,so how did they not notice where he was going?
They didn't know he moved to another state, but came to visit?
Probably someone tip him off about his location
Ok why did they put rocks on ice and melted it
Fake but entertaining enough
The story may be fake but it enough to entertain me
Why is it fake.
@ everything about it sounds fake
4:01 I’d say heck no. If I was 18, and I got such a chance I’d go no contact with my parents and go to that college.
OP: My name is Jonas
Me: My name is Wakefield! Got a box full of your toys
@@0614Rei my question is why he stayed in contact with them when they never gave 2 fucked or 2 shit about him
@@joshuarobertsmasculine3191Because going fully no contact with your parents it’s a very difficult thing to do psychologically and is very very often only a last resort even for those who know they are not cared about.
I have seen people go through this. There's a friend i have that is constantly gas lit by their mother and still has issues leaving them to their own devices. My friend feels guilty doing anything that might disappoint or anger their narcissistic mother. This may be a different situation, but most people still feel attached to toxic people.
This video is making my brain itch.
This reminds me of a story where op’s parents told op to drop out of college because op’s sister was jealous.
They bet on the wrong horse.
Fake
Idk why people are saying shits fake, stuff like this can actually fucking happen and people don’t realize that.
Probably because of the AI and that there are some that have faked it which makes it hard to believe.
Im sorry did the dad really say after all we did for you did what we loved you sooooo much that we ingored you gimme money now
OP needs to learn about the concept of "found family".
Is he Doggie Howard MD? 2yr super degree?
1:00 if you’re from shorts
Oh, be petty and pay them every penny sent for his college education.

@@janetgray2184 you did well. The pictures are better than the story
What subreddit are these stories from?
The subreddit of AI. his thing has been on Yt and Tiktok for a time with dif. names/places but basically the same skeleton of a story.
Why can't the narrator speak faster.
Why don't you realize there a speed control for all youtube videos? Want slower set it like that. Want chipmunk voice speed it up.
@@sparkeyjamesyoutube doesn't have pitch control by default
wow im so glad my family was sort of normal
What is it with these text stories that they for some reason NEED some stupid completely unrelated video in the back? Is it that tiktok kiddies can't concentrate otherwise?
This is as pathetic as it is concerning.
It can help people with adhd focus, anyway, you can just ignore it instead of whining about it
@inarilo Can it really? Ok, didn't know this. Thanks. But I wasn't whining, I was complaining (yes, there is a difference!). B/c I for my part cannot concentrate with crap in the background. So I'll just completely ignore "videos" like that. And don't worry, I'll also not complain any more. Crap be crap.
Gabble, gabble, gabble little AI goose! Slow down baby robot!
Heard this story, but it was step father and step brother. Step father wanted to use the money his late father left for him and the insurance money. Mother wanted hi. To go to the local college too because she did not want to be lonely.
What a crock.
So fake!!!
ok they visited your house which was in a dorm states away when they thought you were in the local collage?
Have to reduce voice speed, at X1, normal speed, it was too fast it was like I was in x2 😂. Had to put x0,8 to be ok
Shit is very obviously ai generated lol
It’s a Reddit story, but the person who owns this channel put a text to speech voice on it instead of reading. It’s real and I’ve seen this on Reddit before.
This is a parody, right?
Its inspired by a story about a glass child.
Right?
It's ai generated
This might be fake, but something like this happened to me.
