Thanks Charlie, we have very similar washing ideas. My washing machine is going constantly, most days! And I don't like tumble driers either. I love to see a line full of washing, blowing outside, and I wouldn't be without my Sheila's Maid!
I always separate whites and colours and then separate all the wool and 30 degree items also into whites and colours. I don’t use a tumble dryer either and hang clothes on hangers in the winter when it’s too cold to line dry. I have one of the Lakeland heated airers as well which is amazing as our cottage is very old and cold so it can take a long time for things to dry otherwise. If I need an extra boost for whites or I need to soak something I use Percarbonate of soda which is a natural bleach. I also love the Bower products❤ Now I just need to adopt your positive view on doing the laundry!😂
We have a tumble dryer and use it regularly but the majority of our nice and/or delicate clothing is dried on the clothing rack. It makes such a difference in making clothes last longer and look new.
Such good advice. I absolutely love you’re enthusiasm for what people may call the simple things. They are so important at the end of the day and yes, tumble dryer’s can’t be great for fabrics. X
I so agree, wash whites with whites. I was a young mum in the 1980s and was so proud of my Terry towelling nappies blowing on the line as they were so white compared to friends. Also I used to soak them in nappysan. I am off to buy some miscellaneous water lol ❤
Super helpful tips! I need to do better about washing whites with whites and hanging my clothing to dry. I’m sure over time it is the dryer that breaks down our clothes. Thanks for always a sharing your practical tips and I’m grateful to see how other enjoy a gorgeous view the way I do. I believe that’s an easy way to stop and smell the rose’s of life😊
The reason the eco setting takes so long in washers and dishwashers is because it heats up the water very slowly so more efficient on power. I actually always use the eco setting when I can now as it’s more economical. A Siemens engineer told me that. Hope that’s helpful 😊
Hi Charlie, lovely video! I mentioned it in a TikTok live but would you be able to do a how to manage your first home video. I’ve just moved out and it feels so difficult to stay on top of everything and know what to prioritise. Would love your advice - thanks xx
Charlie is phenomenal... May I also suggest Clutterbug? She has whole playlists of understanding your natural organizing style and establishing ways in which you can keep the home which are instinctive. Her videos are positive and fun and no impossible perfection signalled.
Yes, love washing! Whites, lights, darks, delicates, woollens, all get separated. We wash on either 30 or 40 deg and always line dry. My retired husband likes to do the hanging - in his order of peg colours etc😊 I’m currently trying to soften brand new Belgian flax linen sheets, any tips?
Hi Charlie . I use Ecover in the drum of my washing machine and Calgon in the drawer when washing clothes . I don't have a tumble dryer ,so I dry all my clothes outside on the clothes line. Even if there's light rain , I would leave them on the line overnight and then in the morning hang them on my Sheila's Maid.
I always line dry, I don't have a tumble dryer. I add the normal washing detergent and use a small amount of soda crystals in each wash and only use an hour wash programme. I find it a lot easier/quicker to iron shirts etc. when their not bone dry. My neighbour made some very sarcastic comments to me recently stating I do too much washing, I do three loads a week but because I only line dry the bath towels will be hung out more than one day. I was quite offended. 😕
Great tips Charlie, I’m like you, I very rarely use anything other than the standard 1hr wash on my machine. Interested to hear your thoughts on a washer dryer vs a tumble dryer. Again, like you I rarely use the tumbler but when it comes to replacing my current washer I’m considering a washer dryer as we don’t have room for a tumble dryer in the laundry room so it’s outside in the garage which can be a bit of a pain. Is the WD as good as a TD?
Very helpful Charlie we can always learn more. My washing programmes reflect the weight so my mixed load I can only put the equivalent of 4kg even though like yours takes 10kg and the eco wash can take the big load. 😊
Eco…just the drum moves less and saves electricity….so basically it’s an old fashion soak…I’ve changed to eco…it saves the electric….pop on overnight on timer so it’s finishing when I get up
It seems everyone where I live, Canada, has a dryer. I have never heard anyone complain about damage to their clothes. I airdry wool on a flat surface.

Thanks for tips! I have stayed clear of totally white shirts in fear that they turn grey but I might tempted to go for one now.
Oww love the Micella tip. The numbers on your machine is drum weight… 10k for washing and 6kg for dryer

I spell my name like you which is unusual haha
@ oh yes, lovely to see the same spelling. We are a rare breed ☺️
Thank you Charlie, I think we all have a lot of stuff, photo's /ornament's/ lamps etc, it can be hard to display /arrange, what would your tips be.x
Great ideas Dawn will share xxx
Love your channel Charlie. Have u done cleaning makeup brushes and bags? Jenx

Thank You So Very Much 😊
I struggle to find foundation in the right shade! Any tips or fave brands? I love a natural look and have wrinkles and pimples 😂
My nightmare with whites specially línea shirts in the summer is the yellow marks of sunlotion and deodorant. Any suggestions please.
What suncream do you use? As some mark really badly x
Avene
Agree on the tumble dryer. Dont like it. Sun and fresh air do agreat job.

Just found you - aren’t you helpful!
