01Curious how this worked out. I have aluminum wheel on 06 Honda Odyssey that has been leaking and 3 attempts to fix not working. Techs say rim too corroded. What kind/brand of silicone did you use?
I’ve had to do it as well. What worked best for me was taking the tire completely off the wheel and cleaning the aluminum with a wire wheel on my drill. Put the tire back on and put a thin layer of 100% silicone on the bead before airing back up. It works good when you’re on a budget and can’t afford a new wheel. Just about any hardware store will have it. Brand is personal preference. I would go with black if you can find it. Good luck
Worked great tire is no longer leaking at rim I picked it up at Home depot its just all purpose 100% silicone GE brand window and door the 100% silicone works best but if you have caulk it would probably work also but never tried it the aluminum rims have a tendency to corrode over time I've had good luck with this on them also it fills the dimples from the corrosion pretty good just want to have the rim clean and dry . Thanks for watching
