Great post you have a cool collection and your right it’s all about the music ..and well done for turning your ads off .I tip my hat sir 👌👍but I do say try the duellist pedal it’s amazing
Dude you can SHRED! I'm a slow dude. I will never be able to play fast. I started too late in life and now arthritis has set in my playing days are kinda numbered. But i keep playing because what i do, i do well - just slowly.
ya, it's actually out in the garage under a sheet, lol. Up for sale, but no one has any money these days. I do love the amp, but it just doesn't quite "get there". The EVH has 3 channels and really kills it at any setting it seems. Who knows, because of the law of familiarity I may bring the Ironball back in and fall in love all over again, ha ha.
@@oldguyjammin9732 Being in Europe, ENGL is cheaper here than in the States. I like my ENGL very much, and when you push the volume it sounds amazing. Being a fan of extreme metal myself, I find the amp great, but to each his own. Actually I'm willing to try something else. The EVH's are great, but I never played one, sadly.
It’s been a great ride OG ! Please consider continuing content like the cardboard guitar stand, correcting “sitar noise”, etc. What ? You didn’t keep the Mesa Toneburst ? ….take care 😎🎸
Thanks DM! I'll keep dropping the occasional hack or tip, but that's about it. It all pretty much does the same stuff, with $$$ gear just doing it better imo. Less noise, better masters, better hardware, serviceability, etc. The Toneburst was great just not quite enough dirt on board for me, thought my flux drive with the gain down was about the same. Appreciate the suggestion though. Thanks for the support - rock on \m/
Agree on cabinet/speaker tones. Another point in search for optiamal tone, is 'where' your playing your rigs. A closed back cabinet is way too much for my demo studio 12x20 . Play same rig at a bar or larger place, and 'everything changes' . A closed back amp with amp cranked suddenly sounds great and open.
Truer words were never spoken brother! I've even had open backed cabs on a chair vs the floor and realized a big difference! If I did it over again I'd get a few distinct cabs FIRST, then start collecting heads.
All my cabs anymore are oversized 1x12s when I can get them. The EVH cab is the smallest but still works great. I wouldn’t mind a Mesa fat boy but… it wouldn’t match!! Pshtt!
Forgot, main question was do you think the 112 cab sounds better with the Invective on the 1watt and 5watt mode for bedroom levels compared to the 212?
@@nickcardoso2464 - I’ve had both the 1x12 and 2x12 and the 1x12 sounds fine. Not quite as much ‘boom’ as the bigger box but still plenty punchy and for quiet playing its great. 2x12 cabs are inherently louder cause your pushing twice as much air
In regards to cabinets I have a peavey 4/12 closed back and mesa 2/12 closed back to both with V30's. Would love to try some greenbacks or other but Room! Overall I'm happy with them but be lying if I didn't say be happy to have another type cab. Don't want to swap anything out. Great setup you have and I can make it work with another cabinet but working out amps first. JVM is my main, thinking baout a Bogner Uber
I hear you, my once cozy 'play room' is now just a mess and frustrates me AND my wife, really need to get rid of the CRAP I never play and get back to just enjoying the music. The Heritage GBack differs enough from the reissue that you should definitely give it a listen. Good luck
Hey OG really enjoyed the content, and some fantastic honest impartial reviews, but I hear you. At the end of the day's some of the best albums ever made were literally just a Les Paul and a Marshall. Hope you still post from time to time, the mods and diy stuff have always been great too. Best of luck whatever you decide. Macaroon.
Thanks Man and thanks for the support through out the years. There will be a small smattering of vids on this or that but not a weekly drop of any sort.
Even Gilmour didn't use many effects until the really late 70s (basically from The Wall onwards) DSOTM was mostly just Fuzz, Booster, Univibe (two songs only) and an Echorec.
I agree, speaker type/cab construction has the biggest impact on tone. I had an original Peavey Wolfgang and it's still the best guitar I've ever played to this day. The necks are more chunky than the EVH models, which I like. If you like the little sister that much, before modding it, check out the GupTech Quebec pedal. It's not an EQ pedal, it's like adding presence and depth controls to amps that don't have them 👍
I've seen that pedal and it looks really interesting... the bright cap I plan on using is really more of a bass cut (4700 nF) I like how it sounded in my JCM. I'll try the caps since I have them already and then get the pedal perhaps. Thanks!
Wow. That’s a lot of overdrive pedals, not to mention what you get out of the amps themselves. But, To each his own. Rock on. Btw, I agree. Every other day a new guitar, pedal or amp hits RUclips with twenty guys demo’ing on the same day. All making it sound like a must have. Yuk. Actually, The whole internet is broken, imo. Nor do I have a presence on other SMedia platforms which is a pretty necessary factor these days. RUclips is also pretty hideous with the way they keep changing the rules, and most lately took ownership of any and all posted videos.
