Lari, you are such a remarkable talent and it was so nice to see someone that is so good also be so humble. Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us!
Lari I have been following your RUclips video releases and listening to the performances since you started putting them out and each time you inspire me to put down the iPad and pick up my guitar and play. I am looking forward to the next piece of music you put out, you should be at the top of the bill the next time you go out to tour or for any single show you might do. Keep up the genuinely fantastic playing!
So pumped to see you were interviewing Lari !!! I watch a lot of the big shred collabs and she always stood out as one of the better players. Pretty much all the players in the collab are pro shredders so to stand out in a group of elite players is really saying something. The technique is flawless but its her stong sence of melody that shines. Really sounds like shes singing thru the guitar.
My favorite female guitarist. Lari's playing is organic, fluid and spiritual. Her face, as she plays, is a physical manifestation of the grace and joy within her.
I've never once listened to Lari's music and thought, "you know, this could be faster." I'm always blown away by how perfectly it flows and how tasteful and memorable it is.
I have two daughters and the oldest, 6 years old, is really getting into guitar. It's so great having role models on RUclips for her to look up to, and relate to. We live in pretty cool times.
Two very talented ladies. I first saw Lari in a shred collaboration video. I wasn't watching the screen, just listening. The guys were shredding well enough but then suddenly i hear this master of melody, tone, technique and feel that stopped me dead in my tracks. Been a fan ever since.
@@quinreimer5906 One of the music is win shred collabs I think. Let me see... * Joel searches * Ah yes, here we go: ruclips.net/video/-eFkuSxwCvQ/видео.html
Mary, thank you so very much for setting up and sharing this interview with Lari!!! Like I said in a comment, I discovered her thanks to you. Mary and Lari??? This just made my week!!! Thank you both!!!!
She truly is an amazing artist. Actually, as for guitar, she is so in touch with what could be considered oldschool. For sure, a go to for me. Tone, expression, everything. A gem. No other way to describe it. Great interview!
Lari is AMAZING! So glad you featured her, Mary. Brilliantly done. [and as soon as I saw it's the wonderful Mary Spender interviewing the wonderful Lari Basilio, there was an audible "YES!!!" in my little workspace and music space here at home -- Hooray!]
Thanks so much for the nice interview! I guess I have been under a rock because I was not aware of Lari’s work. I spent the next hour searching and now i am in awe of her talent......I am a big fan!
Amazing duo, what a great surprise! Lari is one of the best guitar players around, incredible talent and chops, great song writer as well. I met her at a music show here in Sao Paulo, kind of a Brazilian NAMM, about 5 years ago. It was surreal to see her playing 2 or 3 metres in front of me, I was speechless. And what a humble and sweet girl she is. All the success and recognition she's been getting lately is more than deserved.
Great interview with 2 of my favourite artists / musicians, Mary always interesting Internet productions and Lari who's inner joy manifests itself through her playing. at all times, so talented & gifted.. you are both inspiring individuals for me ....thank you & may God Bless always
I kind of can't believe Lari said she can't play fast haha. She's amazing! Thanks for the interview Mary. That roasted maple neck looks amazing! The back of the neck is ridiculously beautiful.
*Lari sempre representando muito bem o BR mundo afora, e a Mary também é uma mestre da guitarra, duas lindas lendas.* *Lari always representing Brazil a lot worldwide, and Mary is also a guitar master, both are pretty legends.*
I love Lari’s guitar playing & as you said very melodic in her playing which I think brings out the emotion in the songs. Would love to try out the signature guitar as I love the feel of my T style guitar too. Thanks for the interview Mary, love the Tuesday Talks segment 😃
I'm very happy to see this interview happen for you Mary. I have a picture somewhere from W-NAMM 2020 where you are filming Lari at the Seymour Duncan booth. You are holding the camera up over your head and a banner on tip toe to get the shot for the whole song!
Mary! You interviewed one of my favorite guitarists and, ironically - my favorite right next to Joe Satriani. Way too cool!! Congrats on this and thank you so much!
I've been listening to Lari for a few years now. It's funny/strange to hear her say that she wishes that she could play "fast". To me, one of the very interesting things about Lari's playing is her incredible and magical use of dynamics. She can play softly...so it sounds like a whisper...and then dig in and it almost becomes a shout. And when it's the latter, there's a power in her playing that feels like this huge push...which, in some ways, is so much more dramatic than playing really fast. Steve Lukather does this...and it's always blown me away. Lari's use of that technique...partly on gained up sounds...is STUNNING.
as someone who first found about you mary from the chewsday talks interviews i love seeing this throwback! I would love to see you talk to ayla tesler-mabe, from ludic and guitareo, in the future!
Lari is a fantastic guitarist with a nice mellow sound, great listening. Another good interview idea for you Mary, would be Joanne Shaw Taylor. Joanne was promoted by Dave Stewart & Annie Lennox @ 16 Years. Now in her 30s was on tour with Joe Bonamassa before lockdown etc.
Influences are Satriani and Timmons. That makes sense and totally shows in her playing yet she definitely has her own style. Melody and feel trump speed every time, but she's being humble, she has plenty of speed.
Hey Mary again it was a nice interview to hear, also the full story on nebula. You should collaborate on one of your next EPs, her guitar sounds really good too. Greetings Geert
John Ruben: Maybe you'll be coming to the US to see the old gang. Rachelle , Toni, Josh and Carson. I know there are other but from my point of view this is the list.
Mary, such a pleasure to talk to you! Thanks so much for having me!
Lari, you are such a remarkable talent and it was so nice to see someone that is so good also be so humble. Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us!
Eagerly awaiting my LB1 order to arrive! Thanks for the interview.
@@malice_wonderland I'm jealous.
Duas musicistas que acompanho juntas! Adorei Lari! Agora só falta um encontro e fazerem um som juntas xD

Forget female, male or whatever. Lari is simply right near the top of my favourite guitarists to listen to.
Exactly, she is right up there, one of the best.
That said, I noticed, not for the first time, that while men make a "stank face" when playing guitar, women often smile instead.
So pumped to see you were interviewing Lari !!! I watch a lot of the big shred collabs and she always stood out as one of the better players. Lari is just an angel. Her joy is infectious
Lari is such a joy to listen to! One of the best modern guitar players!
Obrigado Mary!

Lari is my FAVORITE guitar player in the last 5 years or more!! Great interview!

Highly agree! Lari doesn't need speed! She's got the soul and that's far more important than speed.

Lari is amazing! Brasil muito bem representado! ❤❤
So great. Thank you so much!
A nice Interview and a nice Melody at the end. The Melody sounds a lot like the Verse of "Lean on me". Great playing.
Wow, sounds so good. Awsome job Hun
She’s not a German aristocrat or soldier from 1916
It’s great she mentions Andy, and she is just as amazing as he is, or any of her heroes.🎶

Good interview Mary!
Not sure how many people could pull off purple lipstick, but Lari does.
Law is a very good skill to have as a musician to make sure one is treated proper by the music industry and having fair and good contracts.

Really inspiring interview.
Love Lari's tunes because of her interesting chord progressions
She has such great feel. Doesn't need to be a mental shredder.
