Hey everyone! Thank you for watching this video. I am pleased to say that I have finally uploaded my halfway Invisalign check in! Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/tzFeUVy8rd0/видео.html
Apologies for the delay in uploading this. It was recorded earlier this year, but all my free time outside work was spent planning our wedding.
I am currently on my first set of refinements, so there be more videos to come. If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below. Thanks! :)
Now I don't feel so alone! I am currently 4 days in, and I'm so happy that I found someone who shows the reality of getting Invisalign!
It hurts a lot at the beginning
Awww I’m glad the video has helped. That’s why I wanted to make it.
@@florenciacecilia6942 its my frst day .i removed them for breakfast and dont feel removing them for ages 😭😭
@@mehreenkhan4127I put also aligner it so hurt
Now feel better
Teeth move or not I will have appointment next 2 week
I got it in August 2021. I’m now in a retainer. Rubber bands suck.
I'm having a really hard time getting them off. Because of this, I am only eating twice a day, sometimes only once a day. It's making me very cranky.
I’m three weeks in and have had no pain whatsoever. It’s not the same for everyone.
Good for you! Thats great. You’re so lucky.
Same here. No pain. None.
Thank you very much for making these vids. It feels good to know that there are other “elder” women, like me, who care about and are doing something about straightening their teeth. Proves that there are more people doing this and not just kids. Yay. Thank you for the video and I’ll find you as soon as I get trays. Good luck with your teeth and I will look for you soon. Hearts❤😊
1 week in! I don’t know wtf I signed up for!!! I’m sooo ready for this to be over!! I have 28 trays, which is not bad if I’m switching every week, BUT my ortho have me switching every 2 weeks!!! Hopefully that changes at a later date, if my teeth are tracking properly!
How are you getting on now??
It’s a lot better!!! Getting IPR at my next appointment In July and I’m terrified! 😣
I recently began using aligners for my teeth, and the initial experience was a bit challenging. The discomfort was noticeable when I took them out to eat on the first day, and putting them back in afterward felt like my teeth had taken a punch. However, as the days progressed, it became more manageable as my teeth adjusted to the trays. I'm hoping the second tray next week won't be as painful. I've heard it's advisable to insert the new tray at night, which makes sense since you won't be taking it out for another 8 hours to eat. I initially took out my first tray after the 3 hours it was applied at the dentist, which resulted in a lot of pain all around..
I'm 6 days in... Was miserable for several days. Finally turning a corner. By late afternoon and evenings, I'm not in a space to be around people. It seems that I'm aware of the trays non-stop and by the end of the day, I'm just done. I was glad to hear about the food issues. Same here. This definitely has changed my routines.
Very helpful videos - thanks so much for making them!
Thank you, I'll be getting mine installed in a couple weeks. This was helpful. Especially the warning about turmeric! I won't be drinking turmeric/ginger tea until I'm done with the treatment.
Curry!!! Wow! This is such a HUGE help to know that turmeric stains the attachments! Thanks for that huge warning!! This video is great.
Thank you! I have been able to eat curries since then without staining the attachments.. but I would 100% avoid it for the first few weeks. And I also find that my aligners stain a bit after eating curry (even if I have brushed my teeth) so I stick to them around tray changing times! Best of luck ☺️
Thank you for your realistic viewpoint! I am expecting pain but I know its worth it :)
Totally worth it and it gets easier!
I'm on day 2 and I can't imagine bothering to take them out for a snack!
Also, an tip for you all that really works well for me, use those medical hand gloves while taking the trays out, it will help immensely with the grip and of course it's more sanitary.
Your video has given me so much hope, so thank you! I started yesterday and I was so relieved when you mentioned itchy gums! I thought I was going mad!
I also nearly gave up trying to get them out yesterday to have dinner. It was taking so long and I was starting to lose hope of ever getting them out. 🤣
Thanks again and best of luck with your journey!
You’re so welcome! It’s why I decided to record the video.. because I knew it wasn’t going to be fun and I benefitted from having a friend who was going through it a day before me. It will get better, I promise 🙏🏻
Day two with the brackets and the aligners, and I spent five minutes trying to get them off the first time. Had to RUclips in order to figure out best ways to pull the Invisalign out. I purchased a tool on Amazon to see if that will help. I do have fingernails, but still really hard to pop it off. Apparently you’re supposed to go on the inside back molar to pop it off gently but they are still really tight and hard to come off. I’m hoping the tool will help. My Dentist told me if you need to drink coffee with your aligners sit with a straw probably the same with Tea.
Love this and the comments too to see everyones experiences ! Im on day 2 but my wisdom tooth decided to flare up 2 days before my fitting so been in agony the last few days and my aligners just so happy to go over the bit of gum thats swollen so its a really enjoyable experience for me right now 😅 loving life 😂 getting the hang of taking them out abit today im a big foodie but was that hard to take out yesterday i think i had 2 meals in total and was seriously questioning my whole treatment already worrying im not going to be able to eat for 9 months 😂 tried at one point to eat something with them in which was a terrible idea wont be doing that again 😂 ate well today im a big snacker usually eating all day but went for 4 main meals which ithink will be way to go just for handiness sake and i czn split my 2 hours breaks into the 4x 30 mins. No more snacking and bingeing on shite. When it comes to talking im struggling to get past the lisp but im usually speaking so fast so will be good practice for me to slow down 😂
I am on day 4 now of Invisalign. I am glad to see I’m not the only one who felt funny when I closed my mouth. I have a Pul key I purchased on Amazon to remove my aligner since I have acrylic nails. Thank you for the curry tip!! Haha I will avoid it the next 6 months to help with staining.
You’re welcome! The pul keys are definitely essentially for acrylic nails. I just rip mine out now 😂😂 hope your treatment is going well
thank you. this is helpful!
It gets SO much easier and it's so worth it if you adhere to best practices. It's also not supposed to cause excruciating pain or cut into anywhere significantly - if it is, your doc needs to know and can probably give you tips or adjust something in the course of your treatment.
I'm getting my invisalign next week and am super nervous 🥺 so thank you for this :)
You’re welcome!
Thank you. I'm on day 3. Not as painful. Still hard to get out though.
Thank you so much for this information!
You are so welcome!
I am struggling to hard to get my bottom set out, it’s my first tray so I know it’s hard. I take it out at the back but trying to pull it off the middle 6 teeth, oh my. Most painful experience getting it over those buttons, feels like I’m ripping my teeth from my skull!
Can’t wait til the end 😂
Thank you so much I've found this video really helpful as its my first day with Invisalign and I'm already struggling with the pressure! Glad it gets better with time though. Could I ask for anyone in the UK I'm in England and didn't get a box or anything apart from my aligners, should I have got a case for them? Thanks
I was looking for this kind of video Because i want to get invisaling insted of braces and that actually helps thank youu😭❤
Im two weeks in and it’s fine. I only eat dinner ,too busy at work to mess with all that goes with the Invisalign. I never had breakfast before so it’s easy. Good way to lose weight 3.5 kg already , I’ll have to watch that but not too concerned yet.
This is so helpful! I’m on day two and taking them out yesterday was the most painful thing ever it took 15 mins and a lot of panic! Managed to do it in 5 mins today but still hate it. I hope it gets easier! I’m currently eating one meal a day to keep them in.
Very helpful as well that you mention biting down on attachments I’ve had that too so have to eat so slow!
At the time.. I never believed it would get easier, but it really does! I’ll be getting my second set of refinements soon and my last set was easy. Barely any pain, and I just popped them in and out
@@ElainePower thank you for the encouragement! I managed a meal out today on day 2, and while it took 5 mins of swearing in a public bathroom, it IS getting easier haha
Hi! I just started last Monday, so I'm right there with you! I was living on Tylenol the first few days, but what I found worked the best and I was able to cut out the Tylenol was putting orajel max (4x strength) in my aligners before I reinsert them because that was the most painful part at first. It felt like someone was snapping a rubberband across my teeth! Never really felt that but that's what I imagine😂 it was cheapest on Amazon. They've been pretty painless as of Sunday, but I just got a few attachments replaced today and she was just pulling the aligners out so I used the orajel when we were done and it worked great as always!
I wore them for 24 hrs and had so many issues. Made me feel nauseous, the buttons scratch inside my bottom lip, and So hard to remove especially the top - 15 mins of sweating and almost crying. Thinking of giving up!
Everytime I go for my next tray, the first day of changing tray is the worst and I can't even brush my front teeth its sonpainful
Did i miss something? How many days that you suffered the pain to eat? Pls anybody share. Im so nervous 😔
Hi Elaine, thank you for your review😃! You are the 1st person that I have encountered to talk about that look of having like a gum shield in. I just put Invisalign today and I also feel like I have a gum shield in too. I think it's very noticeable, does it get a better appearance?
I often smile with my mouth closed and now the smile looks so weird and even my facial expression looks different 😞I am freaking out a little!!
I think it gets a bit better, but to be honest.. it still does look a bit like a gumshield. I tend to smile with my mouth open, which is why I wanted Invisalign in the first place! But the good news is.. once the treatment is done, your face goes back to normal, so it’s only temporary.
I am now on day 2.5 of Invisalign. Like you, I have had fixed braces before (as a teenager) but my teeth have become crowded and not well aligned. Therefore at 40, I am doing invisalign and dealing with trays etc. The first day was the worst for me, taking the trays out (particularly the lower set) has been a nightmare. Quite painful. I just hope that I do not have to go through this level of discomfort with every new tray. My course of treatment is really rapid compared to yours. Supposed to be 3.5 months.
You won’t! I found the tray changes easier as time went on. You’d still get the odd pain in some teeth, but my mouth got used to it.
My dentist had to widen my jaw, which is why mine is much longer. My friend had it done at the same time as me. Hers was pure straightening and she was done in a few months!
@@ElainePower hey can you share the progress and how is it going now?
@@hafsa6314 Hey! Update video - halfway check in

You were lucky to get the tool and the chewies with yours .
Good luck on your journey
I know! I’ve heard lots of people had to buy their own. I even got replacement chewies a few times.
I only got chewie with mine. Then I found out those removal tools exist and I had to go buy one. So much easier to take out my alingers now, less pain.
I was thinking the same as I have seen lots of people have to get their own removal tool. I am still in the beginning process but bought the tool since it is recommended. I guess i will have extra if I lose them. Where do you buy the chewies if I need to buy them?
@@tammymarch3225 just check online. I got my chewies at Amazon as I couldn’t find any at local shops
My third right upper tooth is crocked and the dentist recommended the Invisalign i dont know if itll just be fixed by Invisalign like howd it make me tooth straight?
This helped so much I am on day one and it hurts to take out my invislin but I am glad it going so much better in later days
Hello, how is it going? Hope it doesn't hurt anymore
Hope you’re getting on ok!
how long did it take from the scans to having the aligners? 🤔😊
I find it so hard to insert or take off the trays. My Invisalign does not come with any crystal cleaners, tray containers or anything apart from the trays!!! Am currently abroad but will ask my dentist about them as soon as I get back!
I've had my 1st tray for almost a week. I'm really feeling it today 😭 talking was near impossible! I wanna floss my gums for relief. The pain is gonna be worth it in the end! Cheers to no more headaches!!
Aw I can relate I had my first tray on Friday so I'm on day 3 or 4 and boy do my teeth and gums hurt I can't wait to have them out already I feel like I'm biting down constantly on them so my jaw aches as I'm holding my mouth so stiff 🙃
It 100% gets better 🙏🏻
Orajel max!!! I put it in my aligners before I reinsert when my teeth hurt, it's been a game changer!
I have headaches too 😢
I’m on day 4 and although no pain in my mouth (slight discomfort, but no pain), but what I did experience the 1st and 3rd day was a migraine. Not sure if it was due to the Invisaligns, but I think it is. Thankfully I’m also not having any issues with taking them out or eating, but I do already notice a change in my bite.
I’m on my last set of refinements and I got them fitted four days ago. I had a headache / migraine for two days! I feel your pain
I have 2 time braces second time fastbraces do you think I need Invisalign braces
I’m a few days in, I haven’t had any pain outside of removing the aligners
Did you have longer and narrower face after the treatment? My face is longer and narrower when i have trays in my mouth? And it seems i will have a longer face when i finish the treatment. I think to stop it 😢
Mine went on in March…..it’s Oct 30: no pain whatsoever and I have a very similar correction. 🤷🏼♀️
They are tight the first 20 minutes when I use a new Aligner.
Same. I’m so thankful not to have crazy pain!!
Are you timing how long your invisiligners are out? That is a great idea. I'm on day 4 and I've just been winging it so far. Question--how do you deal with cooking? Specifically tasting the food as you're cooking. Do you just taste it knowing that you are going to be taking the aligners out soon? Or do you take your aligners out for tasting too?
I timed mine at the start so I could get an idea of how long they were out. I stopped doing that after a few months though. Cooking was tricky. Sometimes I would taste food with them in (nothing that would stain though) or I’d cook away and then taste towards the end when I planned to take my trays out to eat anyway. Hope you’re getting on well with yours.
For me after the 7th aligner my teeth didn’t really hurt. The first 2 were the most painful, after a while though it’s honestly not really painful. My original plan was for 42 aligners but I’m doing refinements now and I’ll have 8 more trays. I also have the attachments.
It definitely gets easier as time goes on! Hope yours is going well
How long will the entire process take you? I'm either getting composite bonding or veneers because my treatment will take awhile and I don't have the patience for it.
@@samrosen773 i originally had 42 aligners I would change them every week. So that’s 42 weeks but I got refinements at the end of my treatment so that added 8 new aligners and I will be changing them every week so total of 50 weeks.
@@hamtaropuff that's not bad at all, I'd totally do it if I was only looking at a year. I have a small gap between front two teeth, but an overbite (which I honestly don't care about lol). Very frustrating.
@@samrosen773 you should see how long the treatment would take for you, it honestly goes by so fast! I had a good amount of crowding on my lower teeth so if yours aren’t even that crowded your treatment could take less than mine.
I just got my invisaling today and I was really nervous because everyone I've met who has invisaling has said that it really hurt but when I got my invisaling I was so surprised it did not hurt.
That’s great! I hope it’s going well
Does anyone have trouble biting all the way down?
Today is my 2nd day of Invisalign and it hurts so much! Here to see how long it hurt.
By the end of the first week you’ll feel SO much better. I found the 2nd and 3rd days quite sore.
me too....only I had to have 4 teeth out due to crowding which most dont have to....so Im dealing with that and the pain of getting them in and out....
I’d like to say it gets easier and it does, but still not enjoying the process at all. I started with 16 trays and halfway through, my dentist felt that my teeth weren’t tracking, so we basically started over. Rescanned and Invisalign sent 12 trays. I’m currently on tray 6 and So over it. The first 3 days of a new tray are very uncomfortable.
I did find the discomfort on the first few days of a new tray lessened.. but I also had 28 trays so I think my mouth just got used to all the movement! It’ll be worth it
I just got my invisalign today and its really pain full at night and I'm only on tray 1
It will get easier, I promise! The first week is the worst
I'm on tray 4, first tray was uncomfortable as hell, not much pain though. The only pain I'd say I have is when I take the trays out, other than that it's really not bad at all. I have 19 more trays to go.
Best of luck! I definitely still find the first day of every tray painful to take out.. but I’m on 23 of 28 and I barely notice them
Great to hear !! So no bad pain ?
Hello this is a general and quite serious question to anyone that has an answer. How do yall eat. Because it has litteraly been 27 hours and I'm struggling with life at this point. I don't want to eat because the taking out and putting back in is horrific for me
First off.. it will get better soon and in a short while you’ll be able to take them out a lot easier. And secondly.. for the first few weeks I ate less often but bigger meals so I didn’t end up starving. I did feel hungry a bit more often because I don’t think I was eating enough, but I ate as much as I could. And then each week it got easier.
Hi Elaine, can u do another update on your invisalign journey. I just got invisalign and am curious to know how you're getting on. Thanks
Yes! I have more videos recorded, I just need to edit them (I was busy getting married! 😍)
Hey! Update video - halfway check in
ruclips.net/video/tzFeUVy8rd0/видео.html
Buy the wax they use for braces to protect your gums
Give you all the credit in the world because your teeth look better than mine, I was told 2 years and simply can't do it for that long. Will never forgive myself for not replacing my retainer smh.
I was told a maximum of 22 months.. but I have 5 trays left and it’s been 8 months so far. I’ll probably get refinements (and I’m taking a break of a few weeks for my wedding) but I reckon it’ll be just over a year in total. I don’t see my ortho much and it honestly just becomes part of your routine!
@@ElainePower my main hold ups are the treatment time and the fact I have some minor gum issues, and probable bone loss. But I'm sure ppl who have had worse perio issues than me have successfully completed treatment. Why would you suggest ortho over composite bonding? I'm sorry, I don't want to wait 2 years lolol.
I never looked into composite bonding, so I don’t know enough about it.. sorry! I went to a few orthodontists to get opinions before I started, that might be an idea!
At age 63, I’m getting Invisaligns on Tues. I’m nervous and I wonder… do I really need this? I anticipate pain, and anxiety because there are so many instructions.
Thanks so much for your video, I like going into this appointment knowing things ahead of time.
I’m 63 too and I just got my Invisalign yesterday. I know it’s going to be a little uncomfortable and I’m struggling a bit with removing them but these are the hurdles I’ll have to jump to get the results I’ve paid thousands of dollars for. 😫😫
I’m only 24 hours in, I’ve got 24 trays that I’ll have to wear (each of them for 2 weeks) and I’ve had to make some significant life changes in order to accommodate this treatment but all I can see moving forward is how much better my smile will be. My only regret is neglecting my teeth so much throughout my life that it had to come down to getting Invisalign to correct the damage. If my smile looks as good as the end result photos show, this journey will have well been worth it. Blessings to you and I hope your Invisalign journey will be a good one.
This hurts especially without numbing gel.
I agree it’s painful. Mine will be on 15 month. Getting there. It will be worth it because already it’s so easy to floss and this will prevent gum disease.
It’ll definitely be worth it. I’m really happy with my teeth
Does anyone have trouble biting all the way down with the aligners on?
I do! I've had mine for like 3 days it's like when I put them on my teeth don't aline perfectly. I also have trouble biting all the way down with them out it's kinda hard to chew but I'm assuming I will get used to it eventually
@@gracie543 it feels like gravel when you eat. I think it’ll go away after 2 weeks
I have 22 trays switching every week
I’m on my first tray still & I’m miserable so I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling this way
How is it going for you??
Best of luck with your invisalign treatment!
I just started my invisalign journey last friday ,over all i have no pain or discomfort but i am find taking them out a little difficult at times as i have tracking too ,anytips on easiest way to remove them when you have tracking? My nails are none exsistant at this stage which doesn't help the process 😄
Get a pull tool! They sell them on Amazon for little money. You will get so good at pulling them out eventually, but my nails were not happy at the start
I’m on the second day of my first aligned and it’s hurts so much to remove them. It feels like my whole teeth are gonna fall off with them. So much pressure and pain and it has changed my speech, I have a lisp. 😢 tell me it gets better.
Does it get better? I m on my frst day😭😭
@@mehreenkhan4127 yes, it does get way better! 4 trays in and it doesn’t hurt anymore, I’ve gotten used to them already. Only thing I do still have a lisp and teeth are more sensitive to bite down food when I eat. It’s uncomfortable but not painful.
@@seapearl27 i found so difficult to remove it or wear it back esp at point of attachments...any tips 🥺
@@mehreenkhan4127 I just got mine a little over a week ago. Taking them out can feel like I'm pulling my teeth out😩 what I started doing is pull down/up from the last molars on the inside then I try to move them out towards my cheeks and up/down. My thought process behind it is unhooking from the attachments rather than pulling straight up/down over them, I find it helps. For reinsertion I line my trays with orajel max strength (4x) when my teeth feel tender. I'll run it across my gums too if they're throbbing. Was using Tylenol at first before I got the orajel, but the orajel is instant numbing relief, haven't needed the Tylenol since! Good luck to us all!
@@seapearl27 idk how to tag 2 people in a comment, but see my other comment for tips!
It’s only day two for me and I’m fine so far. I guess everyone has different pain thresholds. I have sixty one trays changing on the 5th day. This must be an old vid
How long did it take for you get your Invisalign and brackets put on after your first consultation appointment?
I think about a month to 6 weeks. My orthodontist only works in the location I went to on certain days / weeks.. so it possibly took longer.. and then they also have to wait for the trays to come back
I’m on week 3 and there’s been no pain. Slight discomfort at worst.
That's great news! Hope it goes well for you
I’m on my third one today. I came here to find out if I’ll experience some pain
You use the wax prior to putting in the aligners or after they’re in?
Put it on after you put it in the aligners. Pop it on any sore bits.
@@ElainePower thank you
I started mine yesterday and the pain and discomfort is 😫
It will get easier. Promise 🙏🏻
Why does the first two hurt? I haven’t gotten mine yet, but I am in the process of it.
I guess it’s getting used to the plastic in your mouth and your teeth moving for the first time in years.
Just an FYI for you week 1 people who are in a lot of pain: you should avoid ibuprofen while using aligners because it inhibits the movement of your teeth. Tylenol is better. Best of luck!
too late for me, just used one oh no. But I really can't take it out, I don't know how to do it without painkillers
Thank you
You're welcome

Taking them off hurts so much. Does it become easier?
100% it just takes a few days after each tray change (but then gets easier with each new tray)
Hi..i just gone mine yesterday. I removed them for breakfast and pain was unbearable ...how you removed them so easily 😭😭 i kind of regret
Sorry to hear that. It will get easier!!
@@ElainePower yes it got easier..✌️
Has anyone dentist told them to change Invisalign trey ever week .
Yep me, I was told yesterday when fitted with my first set. I'm back at the dentist today as my attachments are shredding my mouth and can chew food.
I eventually got to 7 day tray changes. I’m currently on my first set of refinements and it’s 7 days.
What stains attachments? I can’t hear you with your fingers in your mouth
Invisalign hurts the first couple of trays… once you hit your 5th set you’ll barely even feel any pain. First couple days are the worst!!!! 😅
I just got my Invisalign and it hurts so bad I just wanna quit 😅
Don’t quit!! It gets easier. Promise 🙏🏻
I am starting Friday!
Best of luck!
I have them and trust me it diesnt at all compared to the metal ones. I had both.
I had both also and both hurt
@ElainePower both does hurt but I think the metals hurt worse. We have to change our trays every 10 days but the pain only last a day or two. Where as metal ones it lasted about a week. The metals was very hard to clean. Where as the trays is high maintenance but we can floss eat what ever we want. It's also good to lose weight. I want apple juice or something take the trays off drink or eat a snack, floss, brush teeth clean trays pup them back in. Is it worth it? I drink more water than ever
Yes it hurts! I remember getting regular braces and it hurt eating bread! I hope I can get some as an adult. I hate my teeth and it’s really affecting my self esteem.
I’m starting tomorrow! Wish me luck 😅 I’m nervous I’m not gonna do everything right
Hope your first few days have gone well!

Removing them was the most painful part for me after the first week... often on one specific tooth. Ouch!
@@ElainePower I know right! I feel like the tray is stuck to one of my front teeth and I'm pulling the two sides like they're handles to pull my tooth out
Yes!! So many times I wondered how my teeth were still in my mouth with all the pulling on them.. but they’re still good 😂🙏🏻 and the tooth that hurt would change with every tray change but also significantly lessen in pain each time
I just got mine yesterday and they didn't give me that manual, didn't give me chewies, didn't give me a tool. Instead of chewies they gave me a handful of those white tubes they use to suck saliva when doing the install and told me to chew on them...This place is supposed to be a "diamond" invisalign installer but I'm feeling like they kind of left me in the dark with some stuff. Fortunately I only have 20 trays and change them once a week before getting my retainers. The worst part for me so far has been eating because the attachments on my teeth feel like my teeth are always covered in food, and brushing the back rear teeth is very sensitive.
I'm at number 22😄you'll get used to it 😁
One thing really IMPORTANT USE YOUR CHEWIE!! for exercise 2 times a day for at least 10 minutes, you'll will feel pain but it helps for good.
Yup! I used my chewies while watching stuff on Netflix in the evenings. Some days I nearly felt relief from the pain from using it. Like a teething toy for babies
lol you really don't need invisalign
It’s not that painful your just dramatic classic yt woman tears per usual😍
A dramatic classic yt woman that you just helped to get her video to a wider audience by watching. Thanks, dickhead.
