This trailer gives the vibe that Batman isn't pulling his punches, and he's at 100% all the time.
Robert Pattinson also said that. He said he channels every bit of his rage into his Batman and takes every fight personally.

@@MontgomeryWenis He said this Batman takes every fight personally, because he ( batman) is full of rage, and he doesn't know exactly how to control it yet, or what to do, he needs to learn, it's going to be part of his character arc, he starts like a ragefull Batman (in the comics Batman was brutal in his first years) and later in the trilogy he becomes in the batman we know..
Paul Dano as Riddler is pure perfection. Dude is MADE for roles like that.
Facts. And I think they’re gonna give him a more gothic/creepy/horror-esque look. But I think they’re also gonna showcase his genius intellect. I expect him to really push Batman’s detective skills to the limit.

My favorite part is where Bats is just brutally beating down someone and even Selina Kyle is taken aback at how ruthless The Batman is. He's still so early in his career that he doesn't have a hold on it quite yet.
Calling it now, that scene is definitely planned for Selina to "pull him back"

Funny how Eric mentions "He's like the Zodiac" when I had almost an equal feeling about this trailer giving me heavy "Se7en" vibes and the tone/cinematography. Both directed by David Fincher.

I'm so glad they're making The Riddler more like an actual real life serial killer. I always felt he was the most grounded out of Batman's rogue gallery (or at least the one who would be the most plausible to actually exist) and far too goofy/treated like a joke for someone who is basically Jigsaw

I could 100% see Riddler getting the last laugh like the killers of Se7en & Zodiac, maybe he gets Batman to kill him. This is pretty much Year Two. I’m been getting slight Telltale Batman vibes as well. We’re shown Batman’s early years, more focus into his detective side.
Riddler potentially trying to get Batman to break his code, Penguin as a sub-villain, I heard Two-Face could be as well, Catwoman breaking into the mayor’s office. I wouldn’t surprised if there’s a big plot twist in the end, either revealing that Bruce’s parents were corrupt or that Batman himself was a project of the Court of Owls.

This ticks a looot of boxes for me on something I've always wanted to see from a Batman movie. A more slender, agile Batman, the sharper cowl.
I hope we can grow with this Batman a bit. Since we're starting out with a younger Batman filled with rage and brutality, I'd love to see him grow throughout the years and see how he develops into the more mature hero that eventually becomes a leader.

YES! As much as I like the "heavy tank" Batman we've seen lately in a lot of movies, this is how he's supposed to look like. A freaking bat-ninja.

4:21 If you read the comics, you'd know that's spot on. People forget, or just refuse to admit, that Bruce Wayne was ANGRY, when he started as Batman. Bruce didn't start out as the calm, calculating, collective hero. He had a lot of anger, back then, and at that time, he didn't want to sort it out, he didn't want to get past his anger. THAT is the batman Matt Reeves & Robert Pattinson are doing. And god damn, am I glad they're doing that. We've never truly gotten an angry Batman.
Exactly 💯!! We haven't seen it yet and I can't wait. Not sure why people do not understand that. All these people saying it was boring or its not like batman and its not like Bruce Wayne clearly never read the comics and NEVER understood batman in the beginning. He is mentally f up for awhile.
He was not only angry, he was borderline and sometimes outright suicidal.
I’m sure someone else has said it but people bringing up Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne not looking/behaving like the billionaire philanthropist Bruce we know are sort of forgetting about the context for this movies plot. Bruce is in year 2 and struggling with his identity, he’s clearly not found a balance to his dual identity because he appears to be acting almost entirely from a place of rage. He will most likely become more like the Bruce we know as he learns from his mistakes in his early years. We’ve never really had a movie explore this period as even Batman Begins sort of skimmed it’s way through it and had him learn to control himself with the league of shadows
Exactly! He’s not yet found that line between himself and Batman. It is a much needed line, as it helps him balance himself and not go too far off the deep end. I love this concept of a more rage-filled, inexperienced Bruce. I think if we get sequels we will see him become more like the Bruce Wayne we know and maybe even be a more reformed Batman who uses his anger as fuel, but is more refined.
That's something Pattinson confirmed himself in an interview yesterday, we'll likely see the billionaire persona develop over the course of the trilogy
people tend to forget that Bruce Wayne is the mask, not Batman. He had to learn how to be Bruce and how to balance his life so he wouldn't get caught.
Facts. And I think Alfred has a huge role to play in his discovering his “Bruce” persona. I think Alfred is going to be the one to remind him that he’s actually Bruce Wayne, and that he holds the Wayne legacy in his hands and he needs to not throw that away. He sees that Bruce is hell bent on vengeance. I have a theory that Batman might come close to killing someone, and that either Alfred or Selena will bring him back from the edge. That look on her face when Batman was pummeling that dude said it all…I’m so hype to see a rage filled, younger, less experienced but more brutal and lethal Batman.

matt said this bruce is a “reckless rockstar” and makes every fight “personal” i’m so excited to see this bruce absolutely lose his composure. it really makes sense as this movie will be through his eyes so we’ll be witnessing just how broken he is. and i’m pretty sure I read somewhere that he’ll transform into his playboy persona throughout the movie. either way this new version is already my favorite of all time
I love that. It seems Bruce hasn’t found the line between himself and Batman yet. I hope in eventual sequels we see him transform into a more reformed Batman, who is an actual hero and not just someone looking to beat the shit out of criminals every night.
@@jdot634 My favourite takes on Batman have always been when the line between him and Bruce are muddied with the latter taking the backseat if he even exists at all and isn’t just a mask for the public. Where it’s an addiction and he’s doing it for selfish reasons as a broken and flawed character. That’s when Batman is at his best for me personally and we’ve never got that truly in film (Nolan played with it in a couple lines here and there but he never fully committed or delved into it IMO and I don’t know if he even fully believed in it because it was told never really shown too much) so I’m hoping we do for this version and tbh I hope he’s like that for a number of the sequels too until he gets perspective later on

It’s been confirmed that he’s only around two years into being Batman here. So still very new to it.
and you can see his rage, when he is sitting across from what i assume to be the riddler in the interrogation setting. he does amazing job acting with his eyes and facial features, you can tell he wants to be on the other side of the glass to do maximum damage
@MortalGamerDC1 85 honestly I've intentionally avoided any real details on the movie other than the teaser from ages ago and the trailer. You can actually blame Blindwave for getting me to start avoiding most info about movies and TV before I watch it and going into something, pardon the pun, completely blind.

I feel like this has very similar vibes to "Prisoners" by Denis Villenueve. Having the movie start with the antagonist played by Paul Dano being arrested at the start of the film as a set up for some amazing psychological thriller filled with riddles and questions. Also very similar cinematography anf style. If you havent watch it you should definetly react to it (also it would be nice as preparation for his new movie Dune)

Always had faith in Robert Pattinson. That guy is one of the best in Hollywood these days.
I just HOPE we can keep him pass his three movies. Rob could legitimately help the DCEU become like the MCU.

He had some amazing roles since Twilight,. But hopefully this movie would help him escape the "the guy from twilight" stigma

His film “Good Time” is what actually got him the Batman role. It’s a Safdie film (Uncut Gems) and it’s pretty much like going through a 2 hour anxiety attack.

Batman explained that. His armor is thickest on his chest under and around the symbol. That's why he has the symbol on his chest. People instinctively aim for it.
Also, way too many people just sprint to 'goth and emo'. Remember, Batman has a LOT of issues. Something even he admits himself. And this looks like a very young, early Batman. So he's still full of rage because of how Gotham turned out. In his mind, his parents died for nothing.

Yeah I'm not a fan of how people are doing that either, even years down the line the real Bruce Wayne is still a brooding recluse. People confuse being a good Bruce Wayne with just being able to pull off the arrogant billionaire playboy persona but that has always been the real mask of the character and it makes sense for a Bruce this young to not have fully developed that yet.
i like that reasoning. The idea that the bat symbol is a kind of subconscious homing beacon for enemy fire. Particularly when it contrasts with the suit (like when it's yellow).
Still silly, of course. I realize headshots on a moving target are much more difficult, let alone "chin/eye shots", but no one? Or like they said, in this trailer Batman was tanking a lot of heat, but none of the shrapnel or bullet fragmentation exploding less than a foot from his face skimmed him? Not knocking it, of course. Suspension of disbelief and all that, because my God does it look badass! Lol fuck it looks cool
Batman is really lucky that every lowlife crook in Gotham is an ace sharpshooter that can hit that small moving target exactly every time, and never misses and hits his face by accident.
Exactly. In the moment of panic, the bad guys aren't gonna be like "Let me take a minute to take very precise shots at this guys chin". That's not how adrenaline works, especially when it's just dumb criminals and not trained soldiers.
Rob Pattinson is criminally underrated in general (see The Lighthouse and Tenet), so seeing him as this Batman is amazing. The cold hard rage, the thirst for vengeance...Rob is going to nail this
He was also brilliant in the movie Good Time. He's established himself as a very good actor.

He was great in Lighthouse.
It's silly, but kinda understandable. He purposefully stayed away from big franchise movies and blockbuster movies after Twilight specifically because of his experience on Twilight. So any one that doesn't watch indie movies and seen his work like Twilight still only has ever seen him as Edward Cullen (even though that was like an entire decade ago lol). Once The Batman comes out though no one will remember Twilight.
I like that theyre not showing us much of Paul Dano's Riddler. Keep his role secret until the film's release. I want to be suprised

@@albertwesker2316 riddler makes a great villain for a detective thriller type of plot. It is more about how a villain is utilised. Joker is a great villain that is utter crap in suicide squad. Venom is potentially great but was shit in spider 3. It is all about adaptation.
That upside down shot is a pure cinematic masterpiece! It shows how menacing, terrifying & unhinged the Batman is! It’s like he is possessed by this raw & unadulterated rage of a madman, who is walking through fire like an immortal demon to put fear in the hearts of the criminals of Gotham!

From what they say his Bruce Wayne isn’t separated from his Batman. This is year one Batman he hasn’t made rules for himself and he hasn’t separated himself with Batman. So when you say he doesn’t feel like Bruce Wayne because he hasn’t felt it himself yet.

At this point they said he hasn't reached the level of using Bruce Wayne as a mask. Most of the time he's Batman because he's unhinged still in the beginning.

Paul Dano is The Riddler, that was him at the beginning…this movie has Zodiac meets Se7en meets Batman vibes.
I recommend watching Dano in prisoners.. very good performance with a great cast

This is the most PISSED OFF Batman I think I’ve ever seen!!! You can feel how overwhelming his rage is. He doesn’t kill, he beats them so badly the bad guys wish for a quick and painless death.
The look Selina gave to Batman when he is pummeling that guy, he looks like he will ground and pound you until there is literally nothing left but a red smear. I asked for a movie that looks like The Dark Knight meets Se7en and I got it.

One of my favorite parts of the trailer was Celina reacting to Batman being brutal. Like damn this guy is going overboard on these criminals, I love how unhinged he appears to be.
Matt Reeves directed two parts of my favorite film trilogy, and now he's directed what appears to be soon my favorite interpretation of Batman. Damn, this movie looks amazing!

For anyone still doubting Robert Pattinson I highly recommend everyone check the move The Lighthouse(2019) it will make you have a complete 180(I know it did for me).
The Lighthouse, but also Good Time. Two of his best performances. And another good one is The Rover.

0:23 when the teacher randomly calls on me and I was spaced out or doing something else.
I love how dark and brutal Pattinson’s Batman looks. It makes his version of Batman very intimidating and really gives off that fear factor vibe that Batman needs. That’s one thing that Bale’s Batman never had, that I wish he did.
A young, incredibly pissed off Batman combined with clearly talented filmmakers... sold.

The new Batman theme reminds me of the Imperial March from Star Wars.

@@kevinc1745 Bale was a better Bruce Wayne than he was a Batman. Keaton was pretty good all around. The best BATMAN to me was Affleck. Affleck did a fantastic job a depticing an older Batman who had been through the ringer and was breaking down from a mental standpoint. He was tired.

I mean even though the best MCU movies aren't even half as good as the dark knight, they still were hit, So I'm pretty sure this movie is going to be amazing. As far as saving DC goes, the aquaman, Shazam, Joker & TSS already did that. Joker won two oscars with one in acting while Marvel has none.

None, of the DC movies have ever done that for me, NONE. What good is that Oscar if they disappoint their fans too many times? How many Batmans or jokers or supermans is DC going to change??? Its the consistency mcu has that won me over, DC feels all over the place. As bitchy as Disney might be, the Marvel team is more united. Dc doesn't have that, plus they supported a domestic abuser and now aquaman has become a joke and might flop. Sure there are some gems I cannot ignore or deny. But with Marvel 80% of the time I get my money's worth. DC movies not so much, it's a gamble with them these days. This Batman though looks 👌 🔥 I don't want to be disappointed 😕 as a kid was obsessed with Batman, now rewatching the movies, I keep finding flaws that annoy me, Ben bores me, Bale was ok, Keaton I did like but the other 2, nope.

The music at the end reminds me so much of the Vader Theme with a few notes cut. And it fits perfectly if you think about it

Kinda really liking this "Year One"-esque Batman stuff going on in this film. Mostly the fact that the "Batmobile" is a souped-up car and doesn't go overboard with the Bat iconography yet or looks like a tank.
Say what you want about Robert Pattison but this film looks theatrically breathtaking, I'm so looking forward to this, not sure about Robert's "Batman voice" but it's better than Christian Bale's Batman voice

That guy kind of did his career in a different order, he did the big studio stuff earlier on, then took some cool artistic chances, now just does his own thing and he’s fucking talented as all hell.

Paul Dano actually came up with the idea of his costume, he said that a real serial wouldn’t want to have DNA going all over the place so tape around the body seemed to work well

I’m sure most of you have probably heard this before but in the comics when he had a bright yellow on his chest, it was explained that that was where his armor was most dense so it was brighter to draw enemy fire from other areas.
Only bringing this up because that hallway scene just felt like an homage to that. Just Batman drawing fire with the knowledge that he has the psychological edge enough to not get shot in the face.
Also, the trailer looks amazing in all areas🔥

I generally don't judge actors just by their previous movies but its directors .
Some people dont see Pattinson nailing this role and its totally understandable.
But remember , a good director can bring best performance out of any good actor .
And i am highly optimistic about Pattinson being chosen , they must have seen that worthy quality in him to play batman role.

Wait, did you see Good Time & Lighthouse? What do you mean it's understandable that some people don't think he can't do it? For people who have seen him in good roles. It's always a struggle that they keep bringing up the Twilight thing.
Let forget about Twilight where you can't take the script seriously but the dude has been in some good movies where he proved himself, I mean some of you are talking like he didn't played in other movies, it takes just a little search to know it.

Matt Reeves literally said yesterday that he writing the script with thoughts of him as the batman, and quoting it will be disaster if Pattinson dont want to play the role. He said he found his Batman in him. So trust with director's vision, but also the actor ability which is proven in different kind of movies; rather than some doubt before the movie even aired--After? We'll see.
I can already see that cinematography of this movie is amazing. Many shots looks like video game scenes. Batman looks like a really scary psycho killer lol. Robert is playing the character he probably always wanted to play.

I already love the feel of Gotham. It feels dark and gritty almost like the animated series vibe. And I’m kind of excited we are back to just a Batman story and not having it be connected to this broader universe. I’m so on board I can’t wait.

Probably mentioned before but his Cowl reminds me a lot of Adam west' Batman, specially in that close up shot the light creates a similar "shape" of the white lines in Adam's cowl.
I know everyone's said it by now, but I love that this new batman basically looks like Netflix Daredevil. Ever since this trailer dropped, i've been rewatching daredevil fights and it makes me more hyped for this movie.
I really hope Pattinson is kept on and can age up over a series of movies. This looks fantastic

I absolutely love this version of Batman. He’s doesn’t let his emotions to take over and just smashing everyone without mercy. I feel like this movie will definitely take down the Dark Knight movies.

Eric is spot on with the Zodiac Killer reference. the shot of Riddler at 2:50 is almost exactly what the Zodiac killer's mask looked like and he also wore those big glasses

I don't think Bruce is the mask, he's trying to channel his rage and Batman is the medium in which he tries to do it. I hope he's also compassionate too

Love it, so hyped! And apparently Bruce in this Movie has very very little interest in being Bruce Wayne and most of the time will be in Batman-Mode.. even when hes not wearing the Suit.
