- 178. This is when inexperience sets you back months. Time and time again we have completed the haunching on the piggeries roof and then had to remove it again because of leaks, today we hope is the final time and we will solve the leaky roof situation and be able to continue with renovations.

I suggest you invite chateau diaries Stefanie and Phillip to come to your chateau and then watch the subscriptions soar.
Darlene, we have asked Stephanie & Dan many times for advice and have literally been told to jog on! I quote "we have nothing in common and all I care about is the money I get, if i help you I could loose subscribers"..... lovely people.
You don’t need those kind of people then and you will enjoy it even more when your subscriptions increase significantly because it is all down to your hard work.
Don't bother! Self self self springs to mind
@@ChateauDeMontmagner Why am I not surprised? I dropped them because the whole thing seemed so false and staged.
*@@ChateauDeMontmagner" Not that this will worry you two wonderful people but there is a huge number of people who have dropped subscriptions to S&P for reasons that I will not report. Don't know about Dan as I do not watch him. You do not need selfish people in your life. Keep on with your own ambitions and everything will be fine. Best Wishes always to you Lesa and Ted, along with your many helpers. Montmagner is a great vlog! Kudos! 👩❤👨
I cannot understand why you guys don't have many more subscribers !! being such hard workers and real everyday people trying to make a go for a better life , i would love to see those numbers increase 🧡
I have said this numerous times. Tried to mention them on various other Chateau chanels too…
Eventually it will blow up. Just you wait!
I feel the same way they get things done !!
It makes you wonder if there is some sort of agreement between "certain" vloggers to work together to boost numbers. Or have they discovered a way to manipulate the algorithm? There are a few really excellent, genuine people who are busting their guts doing the work AND spending their nights editing and uploading vlogs for us to enjoy. Just does not seem fair or honest.
I'm so excited for you to have your own space!!! You two have worked so hard, and you deserve this❤
I noticed at the start of the video how Lesa was swinging up onto the roof like a pro - so different from the first video of lesa on the roof 😀
Lesa, before you mentioned your previous fear of heights, I remembered, and was thinking" Wow, she's like a mountain goat now!! Well done getting rid of the stupid leak! I'll be thrilled for you both when you move into your own space! No one has done as much hard work and heavy lifting as you guys have.
Leesa leaping about on the roof now like Fred Dibnah 😂
Good on ya 👍🏻
Courage overcomes fear everytime
Good old Fred 🙌🏼
So hard to believe it's been 3 years of watching you. Rough stuff happens, but I know you will pull through.
Great to know the roof is now watertight. It was properly tested too! June is going to be a busy month for sure! 👍
Hi Lesa, think you might have a problem with your microphone. The sound was very low when you were speaking, so I turned up the volume and when themusic kicked in it nearly deafened me😂
3 years In a tent lucky you are still married!!! Your channel is so interesting and you work so hard Alone you should have more subscribers probably because there are so many Chateau channels...
Hang in there you are close to the corner now!! ❤❤
In 3 years I have never seen you so down! I am beyond happy for you that the issue is solved🤞💞
You two are such troopers!......you must of been so downhearted and I could see and hear it in you Lesa.....water leaks can be a nightmare to remedy but you’ve done it!!!!! Onward and upward from here guys! ❤
With the leak….. I really suggest IF it shows any sign of damp again, to put lead down there. Take the lime up… again … cut the lead into the stone work with a small disc cutter and dress it over the tiles… I wish i was a bit closer, I would come and do it for you ☺️
Exactly, cut a groove into the stone parallel to the roof line, 150 or 200 mm above the tiles, and put zinc or aluminium (I don't think lead is still used for roofing anywhere outside the UK) in there. There's pre-formed material for that very purpose that creates a gutter underneath the tiles. It's shaped like a J with a little lip on the top. The short bit goes under the tiles, the long bit against the wall and the lip straight into the groove in the wall. The mortar will probably crack at some point in the future and leak again.
WELL done Lesa you cracked it fingers crossed . Cannot wait to see you get on with it now, and you can sleep and relax in comfort. Loved watchin Lesa and Ted😘😘
We can't wait either, it'll be bliss 👍😁
I‘m sure the roof has been disheartening but glad to hear the Café and bookings are going well. Just imagine your cozy room! You can do it!!
I can't envision it very well just can't wait for it to actually happen 😁
I was wondering what was happening with you two energetic people! So glad you are forging ahead!
Beginning of the video made me cry😢you both have worked so damn hard.Thats the first time I think Lesa hasn't Smiled 😊 .. I wish I were a millionaire I'd be sending an abundance of money to help❤ but great job it's not leaking x
Thank you so much for that lovely comment, it takes a lot to get us down, however, when we receive support like this it doesn't take long to perk us up again
You are the vloggers I cheer for the most you should 10x the subscribers . I really like your story ps your anniversary is coming up !
moving into the piggery room, from a tent, thats huge! I can relate. Step by step! love you guys!
SO sorry to hear about your roof problem Lesa you must have both been so gutted!! It is wonderful that you have persevered necessity really is the mother of invention - but it IS soul-destroying when something like that happens, a real downer! You both work SO HARD and do not deserve such a setback. Hope this gives you the encouragement now to get on and finish your own home. 🥳
I remember how shaky you once were climbing the scaffolding but look at you now! You own it. ....you bring it up 8 min into the video but it was the first thing I noticed at the start of the video.
I feel stupid, but I actually had tears come to my eyes when you said, "No water".
Didn’t get notified of the vlog Have really missed you two
Can’t wait to see you put the finishing touches to your bedroom.
I'm so glad you are able to move forward. It must have felt so defeating to not be able to progress. I have to confess that every diy project i have done has ended up costing so much more & taking so much more time than i thought it would take. It's so hard to live in a construction zone. But i look at your future cottage & i see so much change than when you started. It is no longer a piggery. I think it has been transformed. Look at the floor, the new roof & beams. And it will look so much better when Lesa has done the pointing. Great job you two!
I'm so happy you've sorted out the roof leak! 🎉🎉🎉
🎉 Hooray! Happy for you & the roof problem solved!
Good for you by sticking with it & now you can have confidence in moving forward.
This is the first time I've viewed your vlog. The algorithm gods popped your's up on my Facebook feed.
Looks like an awesome restoration project! Will look forward to finding past vlogs to catch up.
Meanwhile, I've liked and subscribed and will check out your links.
Best Regards!
I'll chip in a bit toward the velux purchase. I'm glad you are going forward with them. It will make a huge difference in the interior light all day long. Terrific that the leak is resolved!
Thank you Nanci xx
I felt your discouragement when you said you had had to remove the traunching you had just put on because of the leak! It reminded me of a very descriptive expression my maternal grandmother (who was a country girl!) used to say about how redoing a job made a person feel. Be prepared to be utterly grossed out; I know I was. She said about having to redo a job you thought you were finished with, “It’s like having to lick your calf all over again!” (For those unfamiliar with breeding animals, it refers to a cow after birthing a calf, licking all the birth byproducts off the calf.) I told you it would gross you out! But the thought of doing that a SECOND time compares well to to discouragement level! So glad you don’t have to do it again, Lesa!
@@jessicaboyajian3542 🙈🤣🤣🤣 Good ol' ya' Grandma. I love learning new ( new to me) idioms. Thanks Jessica🥴😆💕
@@moiragoldsmith7052 😉I’m glad to add to your stash of colorful idioms! And I’m glad you were able to pass beyond the nausea to the humour! You must admit, it captures in a unique way how repugnant it is to one’s soul to have to revisit a project once thought completed.
@@jessicaboyajian3542 Yes re having to redo a job....But also how wonderful nature is...a lot of fabulous nutrition in the afterbirth for the Mothers. 💞
Your confidence going up the scaffolding was immediately noticeable!
😁👍
So sorry you've had this setback, its the first time I've seen you so deflated. I do hope you get your MoJo back soon. Youll feel better when the sun comes through I'm sure ❤❤❤
Bless you both. Great it is sorted now though. I am chuffed the restaurant and bookings are doing so well. 🥳🙏💕
Lots of love, thoughts, faith, and sunshine sent your Way from Denmark ❤
You soft old sod, we love you to
You two are such a joy to watch it is like being there with you both love your Vlogs xx
You two are an inspiration.
Thank you x
May I suggest doing a gofundme for the volux sky lights and such and let your subscribers give you a hand to help out so you dont have to strain the budget. I know I’ll give and I’m sure so many others will too. If everyone gave 1 dollar it would add up quick.
Thank you Machelle, I'll getting marketing on to it 😂
So glad that you were able to fix the water leaking issue. You will have ups and downs, but it is all a process and as long as there is joy in the doing, you are moving in the right direction.
Thank you Susanne, we are going forward again now which is 👍
Don’t get upset you have done a lot of fantastic jobs projects cheer up ❤
🏊♀️🏊♂️🌞🙃🦺⛳️coming. You will do it. Love to you hard workers.
I am just so chuffed for you both. Having met you both a few weeks ago, you are just as genuine as you come over in your videos. You are getting there!❤
Thank you Allison, it was great to meet you too, it's always nice for people to come and see it in the flesh 👍😁
You two are utterly incredibly hard workers. I am blown away by your achievements. Onwards and Upwards Good People 👍👍👍🏴
Thank you Jacs that's very kind of you to say
@@ChateauDeMontmagner but is a fact! You are incredibly hard workers and nothing is trown in you pr lap!
I was only thinking to myself how brave you had become climbing the scaffolding and the roof ladder on your tod. I well remember you laying that last tile on the chateau and having to be prised off the railings and persuaded to stand up. Really felt you and Ted's despondency over the leaks. Let's hope its sorted now and you can make progress.
Aww short but sweet hopefully we will see more 😊
Excellent video! So glad your problems are being resolved x
Great vlog you currently on British tv guys again it’s an old one but shows just how your amazing hard work is paying off Xxx
Good Luck be lovely to hear you are making progress after such a disaster do admire your work ethic keep smiling ☺
I love watching your channel and you're so energetic I just sometimes I cannot hear you guys I wish you'd put your mics closer
I am so excited for you both. End of June wow ❤
I’m so happy you both got a break and hopefully getting the Velux window . I remember you could because you needed the camera for video. I literally started crying when Lesa was talking about the set backs . I remember vividly when we had no ideal place to lay our head . Much love and Prayers going up for you both.
Thank you Stacia, you are always so encouraging.
@@ChateauDeMontmagner it is truely my pleasure to be in your corner .
Aww lovely to receive a video 😮
Well, your hard work and perseverance paid off 😊
Hang in there! You’re doing such a great job on everything. I’m so glad to get caught up with your progress.
Thanks Alison 👍
I wanted to cry bcos u can clearly see u was both gutted about the roof ,sopleased u got it sorted
My goodness girl. That’s a lot of lugging and climbing. Be careful. You guys work soooo hard. XoXo
Perseverance has won through ... but how incredibly frustrating for you. But brilliant that you now know you can move forward and dream of dreaming in comfort!
Onward and upward, won't be long now before we actually have a bed and a bedroom 👍😁
@@ChateauDeMontmagner 🤞🤞
Wow, u r sure a climber. Not fearful of heights!! I sure WISH U 👍GREAT SUCCESS IN PATCHING UP UR ROOF AREA THAT LEAKED. SORRY U HAD
SUCH A ROUGH TIME!🤔
You two are fantastic ❤❤
BEST WISHES TO YOU
Lisa , I hope this the roof , doesn’t get you to down . I’ve enjoyed all of the videos you and Ted have made . But most of all I’m so impressed that you went up the scaffolding and onto the roof without any hesitation . I remember you said quite a while ago that you were afraid of heights . Soo , you going on the roof was soo impressive !😊😊😊
It's amazing how you can conquer your fears when you have to 👍😁
Love the new intro
Well Done!
Sadly it's all about the $$$$ now. I like watching vlogs were the ladies get stuck into it and learn new skills and hard grafting. Princess Stephanie Mmm. Keep up the great work guy's look forward to your video's.
So true
Miss seeing you both love from canada❤❤
Myrtle makes my heart smile, what a star. Thank you Jo for sharing.
Well done Lesa, nice one xx
Love watching you two!
Thanks Linda, glad you enjoyed it 👍
I hate to be negative, but the thickness/ depth of the mortar can lead to cracking. I believe there is a plastic compound that can be added to strengthen the mortar or mortar with the plastic compound already in it. Check the mortar for cracks regularly.
Good luck.
I'm tickled pink for you.
I'm curious about your menu😊
courage, nous croyons en vous !
Merci beaucoup 👍😁
Happy Roof!
Ted and Lesa l km
Now what you feel like!!! We had a conservative built and for 9 years it leaked and no matter what the builder or us or other people did we could not cure it! Eventually we pulled it down and had a proper roof put on (at great expense) 3years of not leaks then it started again The company who installed it would not return our calls so eventually we called a local man in and after 10 minutes he came down of the ladder and said (l can fix it for £30 so we had it done and touch wood it’s fixed!!!!!!!! After all the rain we had in February it’s still water tight Fingers crossed ! Keep the faith love Caron xx
?
Good to know we are not the only ones, isn't it annoying when you get to the end and figure out you could have saved a fortune,
I gets crossed for the roof ❤❤👋👏👏👏👏
Sorry wrong vlog, oops. Love you two been watching from the beginning, even have your mug.
😂😂 I was wondering who Myrtle was 😁
Lol, she is a dog on middle aged minx.
Hang in there Lesa. You guys have done soo much and come so far. Having watched every episode I am not just saying that. Remember what your dream was and then keep on keeping on
Thank you so much Jena for your continued support
nice old wood planks for floors
Would be beautiful wouldn't it, but fortunes of money over here
@@ChateauDeMontmagner I thought youd have sone in a barn?
So happy you have progress
At last we do Lisa
You both do fantastic work. Now that the problem is fixed you can crack on!
There is a membrane you can use on that crevice. Under the mortar
We do already have waterproof membrane down, and then sprayed with bitumen spray 👍
Lesa…how about clear waterproof exterior paint once the tranch is dry? It might add a bit extra protection until you can afford zinc?
Well done climbing so high lol. Just a thought about the little windows you are going to install - have you considered coloured glass like a mosaic? I just thought it would make it look cosy.
Hi Anne, great suggestion, we have a lady near us that does stain glass, so we are in process of doing a little bartering deal
Brilliant vlog
Glad you got the roof fixed! I am curious. Is this an older video. the reason I ask is that I have seen your videos from a couple of months ago and you were in with a little stove, a bed, etc. So what is with the tent?
I was there last month. They’re definitely in a tent 😂
@@charlenebessell6736 wow, I wonder what happened. thanks for letting me know.
I wondered that too.
You should watch the vlogs and you would know 😂
They are using that for the catering kitchen now if I'm not mistaken. I believe they wanted a cozy place during Christmastime.
Something has changed. It is so produced now. I like the channels and vlogs that don't look like a tv show and now this looks like a tv show. I like more natural channels.
I am very proud of my wife for the way she produces these vlogs, her perseverance and attention to detail is something to be applauded, and I think it is to her credit that the quality has improved to the fact that you thought it was of a television standard. Long may it continue.
Teri Martin
I think, maybe, after all this time, Lesa and Ted have hit their stride, and are just more organized and focused. Less little jobs here and there and bigger jobs getting done.
Also, in the beginning, there was still a lot of discovery happening. Now it is more work.
It is hard to please everyone. Some don't want a lot of talking, some love the chatter, some don't like real time, others dislike time-lapse. Some don't want to see the set backs, others call it fake if everything isn't shown.
I find all of it interesting and I learn loads of stuff that I would never encounter in my own life.
Hope you change your mind. Cheers
At last u clean up the wall and put tar on it... i have told u it will leak when it rains
Sadly cutting corners with a roof does cause even more misery. Using lead for roof flashing has been a standard for many years. A lesson learnt we have all made mistakes only way to learn. Onward and upward.
Haunching has also been used for years and years, lead is prohibitively expensive, and I guess we thought with the advice we had would have worked, however, circumstance and inexperience was more the cause, than as you say "cutting corners"
🌟👏👍🍀💐
Why waste time and money at the gym. My neighbour recently had roofing work done roofer removed lead flashing and replaced with plastic and some sort of mastic was horrified time will tell ,suppose like plastic guttering, glued fish tanks ,car gearboxs etc life & technology moves on ,keep my fingers crossed it holds long term.
Avete rifatto il tetto ma perché perde?non avete isolato con la guaina, prima delle tegole, auguri con affetto cara❤😢
Yes it has waterproof membrane under the tiles
👋👍❤️
🏰🪚🔨
Did anyone else have issues with the audio this week? I heard the opening music just fine up until Lesa began explaining what was happening with the roof. ...NO SOUND! I went back and turned on , Captions, in order to follow what was happening. * shrug * So sorry about your roof....couldn't figure out the captions but something wrong with hauntings ? Sounds like you need ghost busters. lol
Ah, the sound is present by the 11 minute mark....hooray!!!
Great work fixing the leaks. In regard to the floor in the "piggery", have a look into rammed earth, it will keep with the theme of a barn and can be polished with linseed oil to a beautiful and serviceable surface.
Great suggestion, I can feel some research coming on
