I've been wondering for awhile how even a 50 room chateau was absorbing so many gifts, as wonderful as many of them are. It's been a fun run for all of us but a good decision to wind it down.
I sent gifts to the people and pets, and not as much to the château, and I focused on the fashion, as France is known for fashion, history, fine China and art. The ponchos from pillowcases were designed by Calvin Klein, Kate Spade, and Ralph Lauren. The pockets are meant to be liberating, like the nonprofit Pocket Project teaches, for women. Sometimes the gifts were part of helping a charity with a charity.
I can understand your decision. I always thought the gifts you receive that you don’t want to hold onto could go in your “store” and be given for free to guests or volunteers. It seems like your house is so full of love and the gifts coming through would naturally find a home with the many lovely people that come in and out. I do understand that is a large job to organize all the stuff and have it find its home in the right space with the right person. This truly has been such a special way to connect with you guys though. ❤
I agree, sell the things that cannot be kept, to help fund renovations. Please please please don't stop this channel. We love seeing gifts from all over the world!!
Exactly, they should just be donating all the gifts they do not absolutely love and as Marie Kondo says “spark joy”, not keeping everything out of some sort of guilt, especially all the stuffed animals and modern new non vintage knick nacks lol 🙃
I sent gifts to Steph about a year ago since they were backed up 6 months she didn’t open them until November. In that time someone sent her almost the same things i did. Right down to the yellow throw blanket! I felt so bad that now they had so many duplicates! So i totally get her ending this channel even though i love it! i would not mind if she were to pass on what i gave her to someone else or sells it in her store.
So glad Cat comes back to visit. I also agree with Stephanie, she is both family and friend.O also understand why you need to stop this channel. It so much and 4 videos a week is just so much. Your videos are part of my happy place, thank you for that.❤
Very wise to stop, though it has been fun, and lovely gifts come, there is a limit to how many pretty things can be put into use. I respect your decision to end this tradition.
I really enjoy Cadeaux and sometimes think about what I would send…but as you said, you only have so much room. So, every week I send you good vibes instead. 🥰 Thanks for sharing the love and laughter with us all.
I can absolutely see how digital copies of your fathers paintings could contribute to charity. They can be used for art prints, postcards, wrapping paper, textiles... Might be a lovely idea that masterpieces of the past can contribute to a better future aroud the world.
I completely understand how your space may be filling up. It can be monumental. Gifts are fantastic & I love to see all the commentary when you open gifts.
Just an idea. What about gifting the excess presents sent to you to other Chateaux. As a huge fan from day one, a lot of people follow other chateaux. Your extended chateau family also help so many people globally. A charity auction does sound amazing too. Thank you for making our world so magical. Love seeing Cat when she comes back to Lalande. She's so beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring, gifted & humble. Much love & light to you all. 💖🙏
I love watching you enjoy opening the gifts. Your joy is authentic, and everything sounds better when you read it. Thank you for what you have given to others from this channel. I love all your videos and everyone who works with you. I totally understand your reasons for ending this chapter. Love to all. And look forward to keeping up with all you do.
In South Africa, some celebrate "Christmas in July" because that's when it is winter and seems more appropriate with log fires burning, warm drinks, and lights to sparkle away the gloom. This is particularly popular in the handful of places in SA that get snow.
I for one totally understand your decision to cease cadeau, it’s been phenomenal but as you say finite. Good luck in finding a way forward with the charity donations x
The puzzle is a great one, I have three from the artist and they are a great quality and super fun to do. Hopefully Cat comes back soon, not just because of the puzzle, she is fantastic 😊
I totally understand the need to keep space for yourselves, although I am sad that Cadeaux is ending. I am SO chuffed that I got to be on camera when I wisited you. Much LOVE to you all.
Most people were just sending items to have their name mentioned on camera and not really doing it for any other reason. Send a donation to your local charity and get a nice thank you back and that will make you feel even better.
I completely get your decision to bring this delightful channel to a close. I would sometimes find myself wondering where on earth you'd put all these incredible gifts if they just kept coming. 🎁 You, and all who sent in gifts, have provided such delight for us all as we vicariously lived such abundance and delight. Thank you so much for the joy. Lots of love, Jacqueline from New Zealand. 💝
💖Life is full of changes that one must accept.💖 🥰Thank you for this channel, Stephanie!! Also to all the “Lalanders” who donated their time to make it happen!! 💖I enjoyed every episode……also learned new things and have been inspired by many of the lovely people who sent gifts.😘😘
This announcement makes me very sad. I love seeing all the gifts and hearing the letters and poems, especially Michaels! I'm so completely bummed we wont be able to see them anymore.
I'm a classical violinist and violin teacher. Many classical music students can not afford concert dresses. If there are dresses (especially floor length) that do not fit la landers. I would love to collab that passes on dresses to musicians in need
So lovely to see Cat again!! 💗 Certainly understand about Cadeau at the Chateau. I’m sure you will come up with a beautiful alternative to help others. Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Anytime we can get our fix of La Lande loveliness is a great time. Understandable the ending of Cadeaux, hopefully we can maybe have another type of format vlog with La Landers doing things together, because the interaction is magical, which I think is why Cadeaux is so much fun for viewers. Just a thought.
I 100% understand the end of cadeaux - I can see it bursting at the seams with all the wonderful gifts. Perhaps during the summer months you can have a fundraising event and invite different vendors to sell their items and do a tour of the chateau and grounds. Charge a vendors fee and admission fee to make revenue and pick one or two charities to gift the funds to. Advertise it as a charity event with admission fees so people understand the purpose and feel good about giving money, perhaps more than a nominal entrance fee.
I hope it was of your accord Stefanie and not bullies that made you decide to do this. did this. Some are never happy . If you are all happy then it's all good.
@@sharol946 Not bullies, but there are so many people with nothing, and how many knickknacks does one need and as she said storage issue. Many things sent will never be used. Give to children or families that truly need help.
Another idea for the charity would be to put some of the gifts you received on an online auction each month. I'm sure you could sell them with the proceeds going to charity. Anything that touches La Lande is valuable to many of your viewers/fans.
Christmas in July is something celebrated in Australia because our weather is so warm July is really the only time we get something close to Northern hemisphere’s cold Christmas, so we have baked dinners and hot food. At Christmas, it’s too hot so we have salads, seafoods and BBQs.
We have a great tradition of that here in New Zealand too. It’s renowned as being ‘Midwinter Christmas’ over here. I must admit though as hot as our weather can be at Christmas, our house sticks to tradition and swelter or not we have the traditional roast turkey and Christmas pudding!😅👌🌲🥰
In our house we do 2 Christmas’s. Christmas in July and Summer Christmas both with the traditional Victorian trimmings. Yes it’s madness but we love it 😀🇦🇺🎄
I believe that singer Mel Torme, nicknamed The Velvet Fog, said that he actually wrote The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) in July if that helps with your Christmas in July celebrations.
I will miss seeing these video’s …… it is such a joy watching ……. Alas ……. I understand …… no matter how big a property …… storage starts to look like Hoarding …… and that is uncomfortable …. Thank You one and all for these video’s & all who sent gifts & all who watched
Wow. 🎉 STEPHANIE. WHAT A DAY OF GIFTS. A GORGEOUS DRESS, SHAUL, EARINGS, BEAUTIFUL TRAY AND AWESOME GLASSES AND THE TABLECLOTH, THE GOLDTIEBACK TASSELS, THE PILLOWS? STUNNING!! THE APRON IS GORGEOUS. WOW. SUCH LOVING GIFTS!❤ LOVELY 🎉 ENJOY THE GIFTS THEY WILL BE USEFUL! CHARITY GIFTING...❤ VERY SWEET STEPHANIE❤
Honestly, people just want to spend time with you, Stephanie, and your housemates (family members). You could do a dogma style video of you and whoever else is in your kitchen engaging in conversation and your viewers would be very happy to be a part of it.
I'm sure you will figure out a way to make it work. You all are such a part of everyone's life, you rescued so many viewers during the shutdown/pandemic. Thank you for all you do. God bless
Phillip, in Australia Christmas falls in summer. We often do a 'Christmas in July' to experience a winter Christmas. We swap prans and seafood for the turkey and trimmings. Maybe thats where you heard the expression.
But this is a huge part of my week!! It makes Mondays bearable!😢 And we see things from around the world and feel connected to so many people. Maybe post an Amazon wishlist of things you're dreaming of, or need and then it will be more curated to operational uses.
IDEA: Pick one charity either monthly or bi-monthly and do a video about why they were chosen the work they do etc and along with donating the money from that video create a go-fund-me for that particular charity so viewers can choose to contribute if they so desired. Even if each viewer only donated a single dollar you would be donating substantially more than the ad revenue of CATC currently.
I have to admit that I'm really going to miss this channel. It's like attending a friend's birthday or housewarming party every week, and that's not to mention the charities that have benefited. It is nice getting to see so many creative & amazing things made and collected with thoughtfulness & love from all around the world. It teaches us art, history, design & cultures that we would otherwise never know of or experience and truly serves as inspiration for so many. And to hear things personally written from people all over the world makes so many feel less alone and part of a big community. I know that some see this just as overindulgent gift-opening or hoarding, but that does a huge disservice to the joy this channel has brought to so many.
Yes i will miss it terribly! It’s such a wonderful treat for me! Most times i don’t watch on Monday. I usually watch when i need a pick me up or feel stressed. I make myself tea or coffee and grab a snack and watch. It instantly lifts my mood!
Ooo no I love this channel I've been wanting to send you something as well. It will be sad to no longer see y'all with the neat gifts some of which I would never knew existed. Thanks for all you do share with us though it really has been a life saver in many ways.
So much fun to have Kat open with you. I really enjoy seeing you and Philip together. You got some beautiful gifts. Michael always out does himself. Love from me in California. 💜🫶🤗😘🦔🇺🇸
How about a wall calendar or small 8” x 10” coffee table-type book with pictures or illustrations of everyone in costume with photos by Michael Potts? I’m thinking Venetian, Medieval/Tudor, Art Deco, summer garden party, haute couture, Regency, other historical and not forgetting Gerry-Tartan! Not forgetting the animals, especially Thor! There are so many places at LaLande for lovely portraits or tableaux, it boggles the mind! I must admit, I got the idea when I saw Philip in his military uniform for Coronation Day….I have somewhat of an elderly-lady crush on Philip, (I’m 64), but the all-consuming gazes of admiration and adoration that he has for Stephanie is totally enviable. Not unlike the looks between Amaury and Nati! It’s just a suggestion for a fund-raiser, the images could even be downloadable! Many thanks to you all for providing such fun and delightful entertainment every week! Linda Allen
Richard and Jeff are amazing talented designers and small business owners. Thank you for showcasing their gifts. And I am grateful to them for sharing your work as well. I dream of moving to France and renovating a small town cottage myself one day for holidays and such.
I figured that out very early on. I could see the chemistry between Kat and. Dan. But, They have been very respectful to Annalise, I’m sure. It is always sad to see a relationship come to an end. And a friendship between two people develop during the other couple’s breakup. But, life does go on. If my guess is right, I think Dan has done well to try to not hurt Annalise feelings during this year. A true gentleman indeed. Maybe one day soon maybe they will announce of their growing relationship.
Definitely-maybe lost some wt? She’s coming across as more energy lifting her spirits. Maybe the new job fits her better to her talents. She’s lots of fun!
We knew this day would have to come eventually(soon). But a couple of weeks cutoff isn't much notice for people who mailed stuff. Maybe international post is more efficient than I thought. All the best to you and your home. May your possessions bring you joy, not possess you.
Have people who want to send gifts give you permission to sell objects in Laland gift shop if you choose. People would not be upset if their gifts were sold to go to to help a charity or to renovate Laland. Visitors would love to buy some momento at your gift shop...The Chadeax has been so much fun
I can certainly understand your space limitations. But I do also love seeing the beautiful things you receive. Maybe rather than buying gifts, individuals can just donate the monies that they would spend on items and the shipping costs. Imagine if all the expenses went towards charity.
Oh my gosh Cadeaux at the Chateau is about opening gifts but for me it's also about you opening a window into the lives of so many other people. We get a look into hearts of generosity, creativity, thoughtfulness, poetry, every letter and card is a gift in itself. Many gifts are inspired by others making a difference in the world. Thank you gifter's you have made it such a joy to watch. And my oh my the knowledge I have gained as Stephanie and Phillip explain about many of the gifts and read the enclosed explanations. Maybe you could still receive gifts from all these wonderful gifter's but have them send items that you could auction off every so often or I do remember Phillip was dressing up a small shop they could be sold there and the proceeds go to charity once admin costs have been taken out. I'm sure somebody out there would love to take charge of this. As much as I love the gifts I really do just love sitting with you guys and having your undivided attention for half an hour, listening to the banter, day dreaming with you about the best way to use the gifts. You are all a breath of French fresh air. God Bless you all, the wonderful gifter's and all the fellow Cadeaux watchers love from a New. Zealander.
Cat Cat Cat your such a joy and you have a wonderful energy. Lovely to see Phillip open a gift. Stephanie and Philip you both look so happy together. Keep up the important work you are all doing behind the scenes. Sending peace and love from England
Happy to see you opening the bag I left in August! ...and the Elderflower Syrup is a typical thing for Austria not Australia *lol* but we get that a lot as Austrians ;) I completly understand your desicion! It was the reason for me not to send gifts earlier as I always thought, what are you doing with all these things....? Sending love from Vienna
I am sad that Cadeaux will be ending at the end of this year but I do feel that it is the right decision. It is always fun to see your beautiful and genuine appreciation of the gifts no matter how small they are and especially the love shown to the small businesses and crafters. It will be missed but at least The Chateau Diaries will still be the highlight of not only my week but to many others. One charity which is very close to my heart and I think you have already sent donation at some time in the past, is any thing to do with cancer as I lost my lovely dad to pancreatic cancer in 1987 when I was 21. I would love at some point in the not too distant future do something to raise money for cancer research etc. Just an idea. x
I had a thought about a new channel that you could set up for charity to replace 'Cadeaux'. You have so many amazing cooks that produce such wonderful food in your kitchen, covering classic french dishes to amazing international cuisine. If you filmed a different meal being prepared each week, then at the end of the video for a small fee the recipe could be bought and downloaded. I think that this would be popular, as it is always fun to see meals being prepared in your lovely kitchen even when things don't go smoothly! Love all that you do, thank you so much for so many hours of uplifting entertainment.
This just made me so sad. We’re all going to miss the cadeaux at the chateau. It brings so much joy and wonder seeing all the wonderful things people send and then you give it back by giving to the charities. I love all your content. Going to miss you guys on Mondays! 😘
I just adore Cat! But I’m truly sad to hear that the channel is ending. It’s been so fun. I wonder if you could do more than one per week so you can get caught up opening all those gifts before the holidays roll around again.
Thank you for the happiness the cadeaux brought to so many Steph and co. People sent with a geniune expression of kindness, warmth and love throughout the time of lockdown until now.
It is so wonderful to see Cat! I am excited for her travelling job. I hope she can pop in often! I am truly saddened about Cadeaux, but understand. This vlog has really made me feel connected, not only with you at LaLande, but with the whole world... and that I of limited means could help make a difference in this world, even if indirectly. Thank you for that joy you have given me. I don't have any clever ideas of how to move this spirit forward in a new way, but I will seriously think about it! I trust that greater minds than mine will come up with the perfect solution. There just HAS to be one!
You have received so many wonderful, unique, and lovely gifts. I've never overwhelmed by large numbers of gifts. All the best thoughts for moving forward with your new plan.
Cadeaux is a bright spot in the week for me too. I wondered if Dan could use some of the gifts - kitchenware, curtains, etc in a year or two. I know it seems silly atm but at the rate he's moving it might not be too long. Hope someone comes up with an elegant solution so the charities still get revenue.
It is such a beautiful thing for people to do and to see the appreciation from you all is a joy. Such beautiful people to receive them too. It will be missed, but I have often wondered where you manage to fit the items you keep....🤣Sandi x I sent you a card...😉😂😂😘
Yikes!! I’m going to have to really hustle to get all my currently boxed gift packages to Lalande by 1 June. Plus a few recently ordered items shipping from overseas. Could we get a reprieve based on good intentions with an extension to 10 June for packages that were mailed by 1 June? I think I can accomplish that by sending the final remaining packages by priority mail. Gotta go now, I’m heading off to the post office in the heat of the day to get an immediate start on my mailing marathon. 🥵
Hello Michael! Like so many others I have delighted in your poems and your gifts that you’ve sent to the Château. I spend half of my year in Palm Springs, which is where I believe you live. If you ever have an interest in getting together to gush over our mutual love of Chateau de Lalande I think it could be a swell time. All the best, Jerad.
Stephanie why don’t you have your dad’s paintings made into zigsaw puzzles to sell or for your patrons
That would be amazing
Jigsaw do you mean?
Even Jigsaw of some of the beautiful photos of scenery both inside and outside the chateau.
and prints!
As far as I understood, He never allowed/ wished prints to be made of his paintings,
Totally understand, but will miss it. I loved discovering new things from all around the world.
I've been wondering for awhile how even a 50 room chateau was absorbing so many gifts, as wonderful as many of them are. It's been a fun run for all of us but a good decision to wind it down.

Just love Cat! Just just sparklers with joy!
Oh, that is so sad about not having "Cadeaux at the Chateau" anymore. It is one of my fave youtube channels.
Inevitable decision and very understandable. I hope you find another way to continue supporting the many worthwhile charities in need. Thank you🙏❤️
Maybe the Chateau could do a charity auction with the items that are received after the cut-off date?
yes!, an auction with aaaall michael's parcels
I agree totally

Very wise to stop, though it has been fun, and lovely gifts come, there is a limit to how many pretty things can be put into use. I respect your decision to end this tradition.
I really enjoy Cadeaux and sometimes think about what I would send…but as you said, you only have so much room. So, every week I send you good vibes instead. 🥰 Thanks for sharing the love and laughter with us all.
I am sorry we wont see the presents anymore... they are always fantastic and I love watching u opening them
Yes agree...... time to stop the gifts, gifts in abundance🤦♀️
Oh my, Cat looks as if she's lost 30lbs, she is looking fantastic!! Good health to you Cat!
Stephanie some fabrics are very delicate and don’t steam well and can ruin the garment.
Kat is such a bundle of sunshine.🎉
Love seeing Cat. She is just so full of high spirit and fuzz x

Fun to see Cat
Put up a link for people to donate too instead of gifting material things- a charity link?
Great idea
Why not just choose a charity that is close to your own heart?
Perhaps helping victims in Ukraine and Syria.
Thank you Stephanie for including Cat in the video! How lovely to see Cat and her big SMILES!💜
Thank you, Cat for visiting and being on video. You have a huge fan base!

I know that some see this just as overindulgent gift-opening or hoarding, but that does a huge disservice to the joy this channel has brought to so many.
My thoughts as well
Yes i will miss it terribly! It’s such a wonderful treat for me! Most times i don’t watch on Monday. I usually watch when i need a pick me up or feel stressed. I make myself tea or coffee and grab a snack and watch. It instantly lifts my mood!
Beautiful gifts, so thoughtful and kind hearted fans of LaLand and Stephanie.

Richard and Jeff are amazing talented designers and small business owners. Thank you for showcasing their gifts. And I am grateful to them for sharing your work as well. I dream of moving to France and renovating a small town cottage myself one day for holidays and such.
Cat seems very happy and more affectionate than I remembered her. She always seemed like a happy women but something has changed.
I thinks she's a very very close friend of Dan the former gardner... mayby she's his girlfriend?
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
@@SylviaSchenkelsvan57 I was thinking the same thing.
Always great to see you and Philip, but with Cat rounding out the team it was perfection 🥰 I loved hearing Cat read❣️
Beautiful gifts as always enjoy they will look amazing
Lovely cushions given beautiful. Love the earrings and the glasses. LOVED watching, nice to see Cat back she is a breathe of fresh air😘
Happy to see you opening the bag I left in August!
...and the Elderflower Syrup is a typical thing for Austria not Australia *lol* but we get that a lot as Austrians ;)
I completly understand your desicion! It was the reason for me not to send gifts earlier as I always thought, what are you doing with all these things....?
Sending love from Vienna
Great to see kat. Such beautiful gifts from generous people. It would be good to find a way to help charities. Love watching you all
I wondered what took you so long to stop this cadeaux thing. So smart! How much can one chateau take in?
You have received very special gifts today.
I love it when Cat is around.
Christmas with you 3 singing was the best ever. Kat seems very happy- I’m happy for her❣️😄
Agreed - this episode reminded me of that Christmas with the 3 of them singing. When the whole world was upside down and they cheered us up 🙂
This just made me so sad. We’re all going to miss the cadeaux at the chateau. It brings so much joy and wonder seeing all the wonderful things people send and then you give it back by giving to the charities. I love all your content. Going to miss you guys on Mondays! 😘
Michael is a gift, that's for sure ! ❤
I just adore Cat! But I’m truly sad to hear that the channel is ending. It’s been so fun. I wonder if you could do more than one per week so you can get caught up opening all those gifts before the holidays roll around again.
I’m actually surprised it’s taken this long tbh, hopefully everything finds a good home
I agree WAY to much stuff to find a way to use
You have received so many wonderful, unique, and lovely gifts. I've never overwhelmed by large numbers of gifts. All the best thoughts for moving forward with your new plan.
Excellent decision and very long overdue!
Love watching all the joy & enthusiasm from you all opening gifts. So fabulous to have Kat sharing this cadeaux with you. The gifts were amazing. ❤
Michael’s card is so beautiful. It would make great decor in a guests room for the holidays by their tea.
As always...STUNNING ! Bisous from Alsace 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😘🥇🥇🥇🎉🎉🎉🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
Just loved today's gifts with Kat and Stephanie
What a treat to see Cat! Just like old times lol❤❤❤
Beautiful gifts again and a wise decision . 💚🌿🌸🥂
It is such a beautiful thing for people to do and to see the appreciation from you all is a joy. Such beautiful people to receive them too. It will be missed, but I have often wondered where you manage to fit the items you keep....🤣Sandi x I sent you a card...😉😂😂😘
Will miss this I’ve just begun to watch it.
Have loved watching you all open gifts but totally understandable.I also started watching you during the shut down.❤
Absolutely beautiful gifts. We will miss Cadeaux but understand where you coming from. ❤
Love you Kat-so glad you’re back-even if it’s a quick stay!! ❤️
All beautiful gifts. Just love the shawl. Stunning!!
