    Almeida is in the Tour team to ride 200m behind the GC group on the climbs. In case Pogi punctures, he can take Almeida's bike, the other GC contenders, should they puncture, have to wait for their team car which can´t be right behind the GC group, because of blocking Almeida ;)

      Leaving a lone rider in the wind in hopes that someone punctures? If Almeida is strong enough to do that on every climb, why not just put him off the front for the gc? I mean, he would be working harder than any other rider on every climb every day.

    Assuming Jonas is at the TdF, UAE would be crazy to not pressure him right out of the gates and fatigue him. There's no level of training he can be doing to be ready for 3 weeks. I think he can get 1-2 weeks, but not a full 3 unfortunately. If they succeed in hammering himi and getting Pogi the lead after first 4 stages, Pogi could in theory just play defense (if he can hold himself back), and just tempo the tour to a win. IF that happens, he's now fresh and not wrecked for late season racing.
    This is what I'd want to see. I actually want Pogi to win all 3 grand tours, Worlds, and Olympics, have this be the most ridiculous season ever in history, and then let him snipe whatever he wants for the rest of his career. If he wants to have Colnago build him a BMX bike and go that route, go for it. Cross? Sure. Trials riding? Go. He'll have proven his point as the greatest ever to me.

    I like Remco and all, but I think Pogi could comfortably beat him on one leg in any competition. Jonas is likely not going to be in full form come TdF, so Pogi seems to be the only candidate to win, even if he's not fully recovered (which I highly doubt) from the Giro. I'm really hoping that Jonas can surprise us to keep things interesting, otherwise, it's a fight for 2nd place at the TdF. The Vuelta seems like a harder feat for Pogi, in comparison, as Jonas could actually be in full form by then.

    • @fangru7294
      @fangru7294 3 месяца назад

      I mean that battle for 2nd place between Roglic, Jonas and Remco would still be fire... we would have all time dominance in Pogi and greatest competion for 2nd place from three greats. We are for the quite ride this year.

    • @riquelmeone
      @riquelmeone 3 месяца назад

      Definitely too much focus on Remco. Also, there will be other riders that we don't have on our radar yet.
      The Tour always delivers drama, so I wouldn't rule any surprise out.
      But yes, on paper Pogacar is the main favorite with Vingegaard in close second. He will have the best imaginable support for his recovery and if he is competing at the Tour he will be going for the win. They won't bring a 90% Vingegaard.
      I personally do not expect anything from Roglic. He will be a top 5 contender at most.

    Yes he can win every GT this year but even he knows that its meaningless this year since that crash in the Tour of Basque took out almost all the Galactico level of climber that are his peers and this year’s Giro showed that it was a cake walk for him with no serious opposition.
    Jonas’s injuries are major and worse than the gullible press desperate for copy is willing to accept.
    The fact is this year’s TDF is a wash at Galactico level. VSL should end the charade and send a strong experimental team to the TDF but no Jonas, and no WVA.
    Give it to Pog as a processional win. If he is sensible Pog wont go either. Winning would be meaningless to him.
    The real question is why was that crash in Tour of Basque allowed to happen?

    • @michealissa1638
      @michealissa1638 3 месяца назад +2

      how exactly is winning the TDF, the greatest and biggest race considered in the world, mean9ingless to win ??? and, i think that crash was allowed to happen because of the way of riding of the cyclists themselves, and because of the way that stage route course was built.

    • @epincion
      @epincion 3 месяца назад

      @@michealissa1638 The WT peloton is the best road cyclists in the world but within that elite group there always has been a tiny number of “Galactico” level riders who are consistently just that much better.
      Right now for the one week and three week long Grand Tours, its Tadej, Jonas, Primoz, possibly Remco, and their respective supporting super domestiques.
      For Tadej winning this year’s TDF will not be satisfying if the competition he really wants to beat is not fit and cannot possibly be race fit and properly trained due to their being taken out in a terrible crash in the Itzulia Basque Country.
      The reason is that Pog is a true sportsperson and wants to win against his real competition which is Jonas and an on form VLB , Roglic while aging is still in the Galactico level and Pog will also want a fully on form Bora.
      As to what happened in the crash there has been a conspicuous silence from the cycling world leadership almost a deliberate omertà.
      To me an avid follower it looked like a crash due to an inattentive rider whose downhill skills and experience are so poor that he should not have been in the front group.
      So yes Tadej will almost certainly win the TDF this year but for him it won’t be the prize he hoped for. If is the occasional news reports indicate Jonas’s injuries are such that he really won’t be at 100% this year then I firmly believe VLB should send a different team and pencil Jonas in for the Vuelta along with WVA.
