I wonder; is there a duration of play choice? I have the lite version and I have figured it out but when I set it all up it only plays for about 30 seconds then stops…
That is for fine tuning. If say the Tanpura has to be played with a Harmonium, which is not an exact match. Then this can be adjusted to bring them both to the same pitch.
Very well explained. Thanks. I am looking for itabla app, to play along my singing Garba with different bits. Can Itabla learn along the singing of garba and play along on the fly?
Urmi Ji … Namaskar🙏. A very well explained tutorial and is comprehensive ! I have been using it for over 5 years . Where is the follow up of this video ? Thanks
@@UrmiMusic is it compatible with iphone 4s..because i m planning to take a 2nd hand 4s only to use this app..? To answer your first question: You will be able to upgrade the ios, even if it has lower versions. As for free version- there is one version available for free, but that’s more like a sample. It stops after 1 minute of playing.
Please explain in more detail what needs to be done to set up Tanpura 1 and Tanpura 2 so that riyaaz can be done in the right way. A lack of knowledge will cause problems with thorat.
Is there a resource somewhere that can suggest settings for a song that is already recorded that I can set as an accompaniment when I play my harmonium?
Hello Urmiji, Is it possible to pay for ITablaPro once and play on both Android and iPad? His site has $24.99 and AppStore shows the same price but changes to $34.99, when proceed further. Any idea why this discrepancies? Panna
It doesn’t play more than 1 minute. Is there anyway I can set for keep playing? Or if I buy the upgrade version, will it work? Many thanks for sharing this.
Hi Manjushri, not sure. But for a female singer it’s usually between G and Bb ( which is A#). Most common female pitch is G#. Try, and let me know if you are comfortable.
The best explanation I have come across thank you. I wonder what the role of the two tampuras are. Why two needed? Also the settings are for pa and ni, not sa. What am I missing
Thank you so much for your kind words. I suppose you are referring to the 5 string Tanpura settings in my video on Playing the Tanpura on iTablapro. It is only the 1st and 2 nd stings that are variable, which you set to Pa, Ma Ni etc. You will always get the Sa from the 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th string - which is fixed.
If you are playing the Tanpura for ragas, if the raag has Pa in it, then typically the first tanpura is always tuned to Pa. If there is no Pa and there is Shuddha Ma, then tune it to Ma (example: Malkauns, Bageshri, etc.). If there is no Pa or Shuddha Ma, then tune it to Shuddha Ni (such as for Marwa, Sohni, etc.)
When you have 2 tanpuras, you can tune them differently, and then you can pan each from a different speaker. That way you can hear the notes more distinctly.
Urmi Battu Thank you for such a prompt reply. Highly appreciate it. I am viewing all your other videos and I think I understand your explanation. May God bless you and bring you continued success.
Thank you Urmi. I have purchased the iTabla and watched your introductory vedio. I understand that as a beginner, I have to use Tabla & Tanpura. I have practised a little on Harmonium so I know my scale is Kali 4. Sometimes a little higher. However, I don’t know how to convert to A, B, C etc. First question Is it possible for you to guide me? Second question is What Taal is advisable to practice in the beginning?
Hi Panna, Kaali 4 is G#. I have explained the conversions on my keynote video here: ruclips.net/video/QeSlJf72Tno/видео.html Taal would depend on what you are practicing. You can use the metronome to start.
Hi Urmi, This is 1st time I have seen your tutorial for the iTabla Pro. It’s great to see someone like you educating similar interest people. I have a learnt only 2 ragas on Harmonium, means a very limited knowledge. Is this app user friendly, for the beginners like me? I am debating about purchasing it. What is the secure site to make a one time purchase?
HI Panna, it's a great app, and definitely user-friendly. I recommend all my students to get this. Here is the link for purchase: apps.apple.com/us/app/itablapro/id337350026

Thanks for the video. I didn't follow the slider below the Pitch/Scale and how to use it. Do you have a video on explaining that
That is for fine tuning. If say the Tanpura has to be played with a Harmonium, which is not an exact match. Then this can be adjusted to bring them both to the same pitch.

You made a statement the other instruments are set to the pitch set by this itablopro. Not sure how that is possible.
Each instrument has a tuning. When you set the pitch in the pitch selection area, they all get tuned to that pitch.
Can't find it in Android, can someone point me to right app in Android?
You can try Sur Sadhak.
@@UrmiMusic perfect, thank you
Sorry, I missed my name in my previous comment, just a minute ago. This is Panna Ruparel asked two questions re the set up on ITabla Pro.
