When jesus died on the cross the temple curtain between the Holy and Most Holy pace was torn from top to bottom (Matth 27:51). The cutrainwas approx 80ft high and 4 ins thick. This demostrated Christ's sacrifice. Why then woul the cutain be reinstated to be torn down AGAIN in 1844??
Precisely. The issue is the SDA churches errant teaching on what the tearing of the veil represents. Ultimately, what Ellen White said is what’s taught. That is symbolized the end of the earthly sanctuary and that the anti typical work of that temple would begin in the true tabernacle in heaven. Not understanding isn’t represented the barrier between God and man being removed by virtue of Jesus breaking down that barrier opening the way for all believers to enter into Gods preeence, not only the high priest once a year.
Without a full atonement, why would the curtain be torn? That key passage for me is at the moment of Jesus death, the veil was torn. That's so important. I can't confirm the veracity, but I remember hearing that the priests tried to repair the veil, but it kept falling apart.

The torn veil is not what 1844 represents. When studying the OT sanctuary, the lamb was sacrificed daily for sin, a perfect a sin offering. But then, you may ask, why did the High Priest enter the Most Holy on the day of atonement if sins were forgiven? Because a final solution of sin was still future when Jesus would come again in the clouds to save His people and satan, all evil angels and all wicked would be destroyed. 1844 marked the place in the typical earthly sanctuary service of the day atonement when Jesus began the antitypical day of atonement. When He is done with this part of His ministry, He will come again, save His people, and after 1000 Satan, all evil angels and all wicked will be destroyed. Jesus will then create a new heaven and a new where sin cannot rise a second time Nahum 1:9. Psalms 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the Sanctuary.

Since Adventists rely on EGW as their prophetic authority, and she make no mention of the change in priesthood, this is where their theology falls apart. My friend, Jesus bore the sins of the world. He was the Lamb of God. Under the old covenant, the yearly sacrifice for the nation of Israel and the scape goat were one event. Jesus has borne our sins! Also being in the church I've always had a question. If the full work of atonement was not completed before 1844. Does that mean that everyone before the 19th century didn't have complete atonement for their sins?

It's clear that White wrote some things that are difficult to understand; a superficial reading of White without seeking a thorough clarification in scripture will result in some misleading conclusions as have been presented here. Let's be well-read and honest when we discuss the theology of a particular tradition. A faithful reading of the Book of Hebrews would demonstrate that the Adventist perspective on the sanctuary is reliable. Lastly, it's necessary to understand the concepts of "present truth" and "progressive revelation" when talking about historical theology in any denomination's views. A better understanding of these concepts would resolve most of this presenter's believed objections to Adventist teaching. Too many ideas here have been over-simplified to the point of seriously misrepresenting the doctrines. Come, let us reason together, in Spirit and in truth.

Brother, thanks for the quick reply. I enjoyed your video and found alot of interesting concerns that should be followed up. Re White, I have read her writings extensively too. But I prefer to spend my time in scripture. She does offer interesting perspectives. Of course, there will be those who seek to put White's writings on par or even above the Bible. She was clear that her writings are a springboard to investigate scripture more closely and not an end in themselves. She was inspired just like other reformers - Martin Luther, John Wesley, etc. She was a gospel worker with limited formal education who expressed heavenly realities from visions using her basic skills (in spite of significant disability). She wrote things that sometimes seem odd or convoluted. She made efforts to clarify many of these points later on in writings to prevent misunderstanding. We need to remember the early movement itself was a mix of people from many different denominations with very different views. It was also born in a cultural context of Victorian era religious norms that were oddly austere and legalistic, regardless of denomination, when it came to practical daily Christianity. The views expressed by many of the movements pioneers were the result of moving in new directions while figuring out how this fit with traditions and viewpoints passed down from their original denominations. It was messy and far from perfect. Rather than viewing these writings as spiritually and doctrinally normative, we should look at them as an ongoing conversation to understand new truth with missteps and confusion included. The conversation continues even today, which is why there are so many different viewpoints on things within Adventism. Don't believe me? Check out Spectrum magazine online. There is room for everyone's opinions, from Desmond Ford to Roy Gane, because the search for understanding of God's word is ongoing. Regarding Hebrews, we'll have to agree to disagree. Many things were said and written that caused debate and disagreement among them. It's a bad idea to latch onto hypotheses from pioneers. The Reformation is ongoing in many denominations, including the Adventist community. We need to remember the past, while forging ahead to a clearer and faithful understanding of scripture in the future. The book "Questions on Doctrine" is an example of conclusions drawn from progressive revelation. People came together with research to reach sound conclusions on scriptural teachings. This is the reason Seventh-day Adventists are Trinitarian today - and White's writings, on examination, revealed agreement with the wider Protestant community, IN addition to the plain teaching of scripture on the topic. Please keep an open mind, don't be afraid to go down rabbit holes to determine the conclusion to a pioneer debate, and remember that single opinions by pioneers don't equal doctrinal correctness in Adventism. Yes. The priesthood vestments were distinct for the Levites (Exodus tells us). There’s no mention of Melchezidek having specific vestments tied to his priesthood work. Rather, his function as priest and king, simultaneously, distinguished his priesthood. Which is exactly what we see Hebrews tell us regarding Jesus’s priesthood that never ends since He will never die and will forever be a king and priest unto God after the Melchezidekian order.
How can he? There is not a single mention in the significance of the change in priesthood from Levitical to Melchisedek (and what it means to the change in the sturcture/nature of the law) anywhere in any of EGW's writings!

Your own church’s publications state the investigative judgment is a part of “present truth” and wasn’t preached by anyone before the SDA church because of that. Suffering for your faith is a kind of judgment because your faith is being tested. That's what it is talking about. What the SDA excels at is taking a verse out of context and misusing it.

There is a total misunderstanding of the scripture and the writing of Ellen white here. Please, read the scriptures again on this subject. The sanctuary of old is very replica of how it is in heaven. As for the period in which Jesus entered the most holy place in heaven can be calculated from the time period when the degree was given by king cyrus to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. You will count it down to the birth of Jesus, his death and his heavenly work as our High Priest in heaven. Please go back and read that part of the Bible. I studied the time line given by God in the scriptures which you haven't found yet. If you did , you would see and know what it is . Precisely. The issue is the SDA churches errant teaching on what the tearing of the veil represents. Ultimately, what Ellen White said is what’s taught. That is symbolized the end of the earthly sanctuary and that the anti typical work of that temple would begin in the true tabernacle in heaven.
Not understanding isn’t represented the barrier between God and man being removed by virtue of Jesus breaking down that barrier opening the way for all believers to enter into Gods preeence, not only the high priest once a year.
Without a full atonement, why would the curtain be torn? That key passage for me is at the moment of Jesus death, the veil was torn. That's so important.

Because a final solution of sin was still future when Jesus would come again in the clouds to save His people and satan, all evil angels and all wicked would be destroyed. 1844 marked the place in the typical earthly sanctuary service of the day atonement when Jesus began the antitypical day of atonement. When He is done with this part of His ministry, He will come again, save His people, and after 1000 Satan, all evil angels and all wicked will be destroyed. Jesus will then create a new heaven and a new where sin cannot rise a second time Nahum 1:9. Psalms 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the Sanctuary.

Let's be well-read and honest when we discuss the theology of a particular tradition. A faithful reading of the Book of Hebrews would demonstrate that the Adventist perspective on the sanctuary is reliable. Lastly, it's necessary to understand the concepts of "present truth" and "progressive revelation" when talking about historical theology in any denomination's views. A better understanding of these concepts would resolve most of this presenter's believed objections to Adventist teaching. Too many ideas here have been over-simplified to the point of seriously misrepresenting the doctrines. Come, let us reason together, in Spirit and in truth.

Brother, thanks for the quick reply. I enjoyed your video and found alot of interesting concerns that should be followed up. Re White, I have read her writings extensively too. But I prefer to spend my time in scripture. She does offer interesting perspectives. Of course, there will be those who seek to put White's writings on par or even above the Bible. She was clear that her writings are a springboard to investigate scripture more closely and not an end in themselves. She was inspired just like other reformers - Martin Luther, John Wesley, etc. She was a gospel worker with limited formal education who expressed heavenly realities from visions using her basic skills (in spite of significant disability). She wrote things that sometimes seem odd or convoluted. She made efforts to clarify many of these points later on in writings to prevent misunderstanding. We need to remember the early movement itself was a mix of people from many different denominations with very different views. It was also born in a cultural context of Victorian era religious norms that were oddly austere and legalistic, regardless of denomination, when it came to practical daily Christianity. The views expressed by many of the movements pioneers were the result of moving in new directions while figuring out how this fit with traditions and viewpoints passed down from their original denominations. It was messy and far from perfect. Rather than viewing these writings as spiritually and doctrinally normative, we should look at them as an ongoing conversation to understand new truth with missteps and confusion included. The conversation continues even today, which is why there are so many different viewpoints on things within Adventism. Don't believe me? Check out Spectrum magazine online. There is room for everyone's opinions, from Desmond Ford to Roy Gane, because the search for understanding of God's word is ongoing.
Regarding Hebrews, we'll have to agree to disagree. I would be interested to hear more of your point of view. Not sure if you have a video on that topic, but it would be interesting. I think one of the difficulties in religious discussion, esp on topics like Hebrews, is that our foundational assumptions really color the direction and outcome of our study. Figuring out how these assumptions agree or differ between ourselves would give better insight into why we believe what we believe. I have no doubt in your sincerity or hard work. Yet here we are, two guys, equally passionate about the gospel, coming to different conclusions about doctrine. But it's good in that it raises questions that we should follow up on. The good book tells us there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors. And conversations like this allow us to consider things from unexpected perspectives. You come across as a bright and motivated Christian. I urge you to follow up to discover the conclusions and outcomes of the points and debates presented among early Adventist authors and not just grasp on to polemic points made by them in the midst of a particular discussion. Many things were said and written that caused debate and disagreement among them. It's a bad idea to latch onto hypotheses from pioneers. The Reformation is ongoing in many denominations, including the Adventist community. We need to remember the past, while forging ahead to a clearer and faithful understanding of scripture in the future. The book "Questions on Doctrine" is an example of conclusions drawn from progressive revelation. People came together with research to reach sound conclusions on scriptural teachings. This is the reason Seventh-day Adventists are Trinitarian today - and White's writings, on examination, revealed agreement with the wider Protestant community, IN addition to the plain teaching of scripture on the topic. Please keep an open mind, don't be afraid to go down rabbit holes to determine the conclusion to a pioneer debate, and remember that single opinions by pioneers don't equal doctrinal correctness in Adventism. Yes. The priesthood vestments were distinct for the Levites (Exodus tells us). There’s no mention of Melchezidek having specific vestments tied to his priesthood work. Rather, his function as priest and king, simultaneously, distinguished his priesthood.
Which is exactly what we see Hebrews tell us regarding Jesus’s priesthood that never ends since He will never die and will forever be a king and priest unto God after the Melchezidekian order.
How can he? There is not a single mention in the significance of the change in priesthood from Levitical to Melchisedek (and what it means to the change in the sturcture/nature of the law) anywhere in any of EGW's writings!

Suffering for your faith is a kind of judgment because your faith is being tested. That's what it is talking about. What the SDA excels at is taking a verse out of context and misusing it.

As for the period in which Jesus entered the most holy place in heaven can be calculated from the time period when the degree was given by king cyrus to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. You will count it down to the birth of Jesus, his death and his heavenly work as our High Priest in heaven. Please go back and read that part of the Bible.
