Got my wife to "catching deers " this year and she is very noise sensitive. Most of the stands i have sit up for her are 100 and under. She got one with a crossbow and one with my Ruger American Ranch in 300BLK, the one with the 300 was about 65 ran about 50 great blood trail. 150gr Deer season xp, i think the trick is keep your shot realistic for the caliber.
These informative videos are GREAT for a break at work. I can learn something for free in a few minutes that would've taken half a day at the range and a bunch of money on fancy boy bullets.
Great video. Supersonic is clearly the best choice for hunting deer, and yet... the heavy sub-sonic rounds still have comparable energy at 200 yards to the 45 ACP 230 gr. at the muzzle. 🤔
I'm hoping that the Hornady Sub X 190 gr. proves to be the exception to the 1,000 f/Lbs rule, because the rule is based on more durable supersonic bullets that don't expand below a certain velocity, and the Sub X was designed to mushroom at subsonic speeds.
Adam, Have you considered putting a "booklet" of all of your bullet drop charts? May be a good idea to offer the booklet on your store. I know I would buy a copy of a bullet drop charts. Thanks for all the good information.
Adam, you should do testing of muzzle velocities from a rifle you use. And then to adjust the data in the chart you show. The consistency of MV is particularly important for subsonics
Shot a nice 8 couple weeks ago at about 75 y , hit shoulder and it fragmented and did not penetrate shoulderblade . Part of ricochet went through ear and antler and I got lucky and some of it hit main arteries in neck. Will never hunt with it again.
In general the 300blk is not for any distance at all it was designed for close range. regardless of bullet selection it is just not a reliable hunting cartridge at any range. It does not carry with enough energy past 50 yards in any load to be considered reliable. You are capable of hits but the fact of energy dropping so quickly doesnt lend itself as a reliable hunting caliber. 125g Barnes isnt a joke. @@msquared9605
8:45 I've been shooting 300 Blackout for a while now, 125 gr is my go-to load and pretty much all I shoot nowadays. I've never had a shusher machine, but a friend of mine does and I was standing behind him once when he was shooting 220s. It was bright sunlight, and I could easily see the bullet in flight the entire way. I really think I could have thrown a rock faster. 125s are WAY flatter shooting and definitely hit hard enough for anything I'll use them for. And I don't hunt game with mine.
Yeah. My buddy and I were giggling about seeing the subs in the spotting scope. It was slower than a hummingbird; maybe as fast as a bee. Even without a shusher, they were easy on the ears. Some day people are going to look at un-shushed rifles like we look at old cars without seatbelts, and sub boolots are going to outnumber supers on the shelf.
Thanks for the info, i bought a 300 blackout this year but havent had a chance to do alot with it. Im thinking the 190 sobsonics for racoons and opposums in the yard.
The Barnes 110gr Tac TX blacktips are the bomb 💥for deer! I’ve had awesome results loading these on the high end with Hogdon Lil Gun. I recovered a couple of them lodged on the far side of the deer’s hide. They expanded beautifully. Most times they’d exit though. Big wound channel. This bullet or the Hornady 110gr Gmx/Cx really ups the performance of the little round by being a tough fast bullet.
Killed 2 deer with a 300 BO with 200 grain Maker Rex solid copper expandable. Runs 1080 fps at the muzzle. It’s about like bow hunting. Make a good shot and it’s a quick effective kill. Energy is great but shot placement is better.
Good video, but it may have been more useful for people who mainly shoot subs, to start with a 50yd zero?? Would have been some interesting drop at distance mumbers, steve uk
Alot of 300 BO fans commenting so I wont say how I really feel about the cartridge. But i will say that the 7.62x39 is much better hands down!!!!!! God Bless WTW!!!!!!!
I'm looking to get a 300 blackout this year, and would be interested to know....if you zero at 100yds, what is the POI if a target walks out at 50yds. Specifically with the subsonic rounds like the Hornady black 208gr and/or the Calloway boar axe 195gr.?
@SaintTheRealist I did not literally do this test. Just put together all the numbers stated from the manufacturer. Not sure what barrwl length they were using
Both are good for deer if you know there limits. I love my 44 mag lever and 44 mag pistols. I really love my CVA pistol in 300 black. I just got a 300 black in Ar-15 . The upper came of Friday. Lower comes Tuesday. Im working on a red dot or a scope yet.

I use my 300 BO for home defense using the sub sonic loads. I use a 6.5 Grendel and 6.5 Creedmoor for deer. Thanks WTW!!
Miss this one as I was driving and in an area with no reception. Gonna watch it now...love me some 300 Blackout
Hey!!! 300blk is definitely fun
WTW thanks for doing this one. I asked you about it and you delivered. Best hunting channel on the RUclips.

Just my two cents here.. but don’t blame the cartridge as a whole when your bullet selection is really to blame

Got a vortex 4x12x44 on my 25-06 today, hope to get it sighted in soon 👊
so the higher grain is subsonic and lower is super sonic. always thought it was the other way around. still learning yall don’t hate too much.
Yup. You got it
I took a doe at 90 yards this season with those barnes 110 gr tac-tx. With a 10in SBR. Drop immediately. Was very impressed.
Awesome!

Another great video. Plenty of data points to save others time and money. Searching range eye protection currently. Any recommendations?
I just wear random cheapies
I've heard a lot of comparisons of 300blk to 30-30 but never seen the numbers back to back
It's about 75 percent the power but with modern bullets it's equivalent to the good old days
You should keep the ranges realistic with 300blk and go for 300 or less, just like 30-30
Sorry guys I'm in the south west were 150-400 yards down here so 3006 or 7 mag for the young ones 6.5 creedmor.
125sst is a deer catcher out to 350 all day. Its perfect in hills of wv where 200 is a long shot. 110 vmax is a man stopper as well.
I use the Winchester Deer Season 150 Grain and it drops em pretty good.

Adam you see new ruger American rifles yet
Yup. Saw the images today
I may sale my old one for some new ones
I recently acquired the 300 b.o. in pistol and rifle
Great video.... how about a comparison between 300BO and 300 Hamr?
In my book 300 hamr now irrelevant. I have only ever seen one rifle and it was ridiculously expensive
Do you think you could do a review on federal Terminal ascent in 270?
Maybe
Great for self defense/ close quarters bad for hunting. Why not tip the hand in your favor. Velocity is king.
Hey wtw have u ever tried a ectuner brake ? An did it work good for u. Thanks for your input
I have one. Will be in a video soon

Be an inch off at most. Aim just a tad high
Probably closer to half inch off
Ok gotcha, thanks!
Just sighted in a 300 blk out. 200 grn, at 100yrds. After seeing this was disappointed about deer hunting with it. All shots will be under 100 yrds.

300 Blackout out to 100 yards with the CVA pistol I wont hold back. Past 100 let the deer walk past.
