.30-06 Bullet Drop - Demonstrated and Explained
I always sight in at 1/2 mile…just to be safe.
Thanks Who Tee , i have my 3006 sighted in at 2 inches high at a hundred ang im holding dead on at 200 , if i am hunting a bean field ill bring my 300 win mag .
That's a brilliant set up there mate, an all round classic that gives heaps of confidence in a shot and 3006 can be had cheap. Even at 200yds you can be happy with a 6in drop just be realistic on your game hunted.
You simplify it very well for us regular folks. Thanks 🤙
Thanks for watching
The calculations are great. One variable is the elevations of the targets.
Need to see a video on the Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian .25-06.
Like others below, I too like the 200 yard zero. AT 50 yards, it's almost a hip shot, but @400 yards the numbers might surprise you. 450 yards plus, I usually want to put a stalk on. Especially on big game! I know it's not always possible, and that's where I like the 200 yard zero. Great job showing bullet drop.
I bet old timers winning with the m1 garand at 1000yd matches have thrown their desktop
Man love your channel.
I shoot a 150 gr belistic tip in my 30 06 reloads. Always site my scopes in a inch high at 100 yrds. Alway worked for me .I have had good luck out of 150gr bullets. In my 30 06 ,30 30 , 270 . But that's just me .
Thats why for hunting you 0 at 200 yards.
You can just zero 2.5 inches high at 100 yards for most common deer rifles and you will be never more than 3 inches high and never more than 3 inches low from 0-275 yards give or take a few yards depending on your exact combination. This is probably best way to do it for the average guy who don’t like missing 🦌. If it’s farther than that and you have an opportunity to shoot it you probably have an opportunity to range it and make adjustments or decide on a hold. But you can point and click from 0-275 which is pure money!
I zero my 280 AI at 50 yards and it’s dead on at 200
I always sight in at 125 yards. Give a somewhat flatter trajectory over 200 yards.
the trick is to set it at 1.5 to 1.75 at 100 to get a 3 - group at 200 or 25 depending on rifle barrel length ! its called dead on hold at 200 or 250 yards .Good stuff Who tee who !
Awesome show, thanks for your work!
Thanks for watching!
My ruger loves 150 gr speer hand loads.
My 30-06 like those bullets to and imr 4064 powder
U are my favorite RUclips guy.
dying for the 307 280 ackley review
Soon
Great video, (typically) great shooting & great presentation. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
I zero all my guns at 50yds, I don't have a range out to 200 so I'm curious what 180gr 30-06 zeroed at 50 would do at 1, 2, and 300 yds
Every rifle (barrel) is just a little different, so of a matter of course you should always test your own rifle. The load you're sighting in a 50 is basically going to be about 1.5in high at 100..so go from there..but as his video shown actually most all common deer calibers and loads are far more closely on zero at short (common) hunting ranges that the charts suggest..so the only way to know for absolute sure where your rifle and load are hitting at 200 an 300yds is to find a place to shoot and test it...the reality is most rifles at common ranges from 50 to 200yds no matter where exactly zeroed are more than accurate enough to be within "minute of deer " but it you don't know exactly where your rifle is hitting don't take the shot on any animal especially out to 300yds or further.
You can’t tell from a chart, it varies with barrel length, rifling twist and other variables especially with factory ammo and rifles. The way 3006 drops 5-6 miles of cross wind will put you way off at 300 yards or further.
150 grain copper would scoot pretty good.😊
Enjoyed the video 👍
Thanks for watching
Do the chart at 50 yard zero and 200 yard should be close to dead on and 100 and inch or so high or low can't remember
Grandpa would have loved this video.
Good info ! 👍👍
When you know the bullet drop you hust higher or lower depending the range .
You could have better optimized the setup by doing a 200 yard zero. At 2800 fps that’s dead on at 50. Your bullet is on the rise. You would have been 1.8 inches high at 100 and 7.7 inches low at 300. For 300 and further you either have the correct ballistic holdover points in your scope or you dial. This is basics you should know. My gunsmith/ range instructor taught me this when I was young.
Have a 45 grain sabot load for 30-06 very flat shooting but garbage at range, have 208 grain ELD also loaded into 30-06 very different point of aim/impact.
Those must be flat base bullets because a boat tail will still be supersonic easily past 750 yd with a 30-06.
Try some federal terminal accent 175 grain 30-06! I hear they carry a lot of energy out at long distance
That's a fine shooting rifle right there!❤❤❤
Thanks
Fun video!l 30-06 fan boy!
Interesting 👍
I do most all of mine at 50 yards.
Does barrel length change those numbers ??
Yes a bit bcuz that changes velocity
Tried n true ! 👍Thanks WTW
Those are some small grain bullets
