Heeey Katie! It's nice to know you're moving back here to the Philippines 😊 It must have been a difficult decision to think about moving back. I moved back here in Ph not too long ago, it was 31 Aug 2022 that I arrived back home. I was also abroad for college in Oslo, Norway, and when I finished studies I tried looking for a job there, but then I heard that if you're not a citizen there then one won't easily get a job there, so I was on a student permit and I never really landed on any job. After that I tried applying for a masters also in Oslo, I took one semester, but then it didn't work out for me because I couldn't handle the difficulty level of the studies, so I no longer pursued a masters. I thought maybe a masters would help me have better opportunities for a job but, I guess I can only handle so much, so not long after I decided to go home to the Philippines and now I'm here in Manila preparing for a Civil Service Exam as extra credentials to look for a job. I'm even willing to look for one that isn't quite relevant to my college background, for instance an entry-level job that doesn't require much experience from the candidate. So, I realized that maybe living in PH is better for me to handle especially financially, than living in Norway because it's expensive there and, I can't imagine finding a house for myself there 😅when I'm home in PH, I have family I can be with and spend time with, but if I were in Norway, I have to live far away from family and I would not be able to see them everyday. Family is everything for me, and that's why I chose to go home. 🥰

Do you regret staying in Ithaca after graduation? I decided not to stay at Cornell for law school as I thought I would feel that everyone else had moved on. And it was a good decision. I had a great three years elsewhere.Even though I was from NY, I ultimately moved to California for the weather. I always love returning to Ithaca to visit. Great memories.
Personally I don’t because I have a lot of community here (college seniors, grad students, church) and all of my work is remote with lots of calls that keep me socially engaged! That said, I think Ithaca is only a good fit for me this 1 year, and after that it doesn’t make much sense. I’m happy you’re happy with your choice though! You know what’s best for your life. Go Big Red :)

Unless you are born rich and pampered or priveleged - life will always be a struggle -some make it, some dont.
In the US, or anywhere else, at one point in our lifetime, one will be discriminated because of how one looks or where one came from. In some places, people are judged by the color of their skin. Most folks are prejudice - they will always look at some people differently, even US citizens. Most foreigners or those who are born somewhere and migrated do stay in the US for the “better or wider” opportunities. Or maybe to live the so called American dream (have a good education, own a home or a business, travel, etc) - some make it, some dont. You decided to come back to the homeland -well and good. You will have better use of your education in the Philippines if you work hard enough to climb that career ladder -although some ladder are stiff - some are smooth.
Good luck on your new life if you have no plans of going back to the US.

Hey! I am not really into going to the ocean 😂 but it looks super pretty 🤩. Since you are going back you should do a couple of videos about tourist destinations and costs!
Also definitely living abroad always sounds like a dream until reality hits and you miss everything in your country 😅 it happen to me too, and that's definitely not to say that it's not wonderful to live abroad too.

at least you should've stayed 5 years and took our US passport and then went back. you'd be a US citizen and you could get remote jobs from the Philippines. You could make so much money working remote and being with your family. win-win.
