The shotgun ammo is a nonfactor, as if you watched the stream you would know that I tried to do it, checked settings several times, etc.
The only thing that makes sense, is that quickswapping can be broken for 1.0 Nintendo Switches/Joycons which is my case. Regardless, it's fucking stupid that it doesn't work on default hardware when every other game I played has whole functionality. Now shut up.

You are actually 100% correct on that. Actually in terms of functionality the port of eternal is even more of a dumpster fire on 1.0s for no reason than it being an old model. It runs alot better on later models.

It runs at 720p in docked, dropping even lower in demanding areas due to dynamic resolution.
I own the Xbox version and the Switch version.. The Switch version is hard as hell no matter the difficulty settlings..

Resolution bump also bumps the bitrate on RUclips. they use worse compression the lower the resolution. I would rather see the image as close to raw as possible with any extra bitrate I could take. It lessens artifacts in the dark areas that aren't there on the raw picture.
@@kenrickeasonI beat the game on Switch at Hurt Me Plenty.. you see, my PC wasn't working for multiple months (finally is, thank God) so I had to beat the game on Switch. TBH it was pretty bad at first but I got used to it as I went through it. I also had beaten Doom 2016 on Switch a few years before, I believe on Nightmare or Ultra Violence.. somehow, lol. Actually replaying Doom 2016 on PC now and it's so much better this way, I'll prob replay Eternal too after

I'm on a shitty pc and I think I've only ever had one crash. Lucky me, it was on the very last arena of my Super Gore Nest master level Extra Lives run.
Never had a crash on PC. Granted my PC handles it at high fps at 3440x1440 with rt on but yeah.
what?? doom eternal on pc is the greatest optimized fps game to come out of late, for me it runs at 90 fps on a gtx 1060 3gb with no crashes

I was in college and only had a switch when this game came out. Beating the pre-patch holt slayer gate on nightmare on switch is still one of my proudest accomplishments

Man, it really isn't that bad on switch I had a great time with it and didn't even notice half the stuff mentioned, I played on uv and it was pretty hard might just be because it was a first playthrough

It is possible to edit the control schemes and allow for some limited weapon quick swaps. Admittedly the update might've been too late for this run.
I think you could do this a lotttttt easier with motion controls… seriously they save the Switch ports of precise games like this

The game definitely has a lot more compressed audio on the switch its not bad at all, but this guy speed runs this game on pc plenty with those same headphones on and it is noticeable not just for him, but if you don't have anything to compare it to or you've just casually played on both you might not notice the audio difference.

@@dionysosalters9577, you are correct, I recently got doom eternal on pc after a while of playing on switch and yeah....quick switching feels slow on switch. But switch did teach me how to weapon swap very fast so, very good there.

True Champion. You can capture card, and live view on computer as you record from switch. I setup a knarly old school VHS recording solution for my switch setup on old CRT tv. I got a 10 dollar hdmi-rca converter, sends switch to VCR, from VCR to TV, and VCR can record what is on screen. Very rudimentary and more for education and fun than for posting online.
I have gameplays on Switch and i use an Avermedia 2 plus, Aldo works for any other consolé, But You must have the Nintendo switch oled or the Standard edition only

i'm gonna preface before i do the rest of the comment: regular DE is a little busted and DE Switch sucks. let's not fucking call an apple an orange, DE has bugs and DE Switch is a cool little novelty port, but a novelty at best.
But you CAN quickswap by tapping R on joy-con. I can totally just upload a video of me doing it literally right this second. I can even upload a video of me not being able to quickswap with the weapon wheel button because there is no ammo in my guns. it's so easily proven, you can just boot the game up and try it yourself, but it's so inconsequential that it's honestly a little whatever. however, the way you go about it doesn't sound like you're making an observation, it's like you're making a big scene out of nothing and then trying to play it off like you're cool as fuck. like some kid who's learning skateboarding trying out a trick, falling off the board, than saying "skateboarding is busted anyway"

Wow ur a speed runner and this dumb. That's actually crazy. If u try quick swapping to a empty gun it won't quick swap. If u run just a few test, u will realize that (even with default settings which btw I would recommend changing sensitivity so u turn faster) if ur gun ur trying to switch to is empty, it won't switch. If there is ammo it will switch

Eternal on switch was the first I ever played it because I was hella broke and couldn't afford a PS4 so I had my uncle's old switch
You couldn’t quick swap because you had no ammo in the shotgun
I know this is old but I’ve played a lot on switch. There are a few points:
-quick swapping works fine for me on joycons. What you may need to do is change a setting that determines how long you need to hold the weapon wheel button before it registers a wheel/quickswap.
- I’ve played it on PS4. I frankly prefer switch for one reason: GYRO AIMING. I have it tuned super low, so that I can make micro adjustments with my grip. It gives me enough accuracy that I can turn off auto aiming!
-yes the graphics and sound suck haha
ngl ik but when i first played doom eternal on switch it was mad easy for me. I didn’t even have an challenge with the controls and movement. And it never crashes for me. If you check this video after a year this posted that funny ngl lol.

You NEED a pro controller or a controller like it to play DOOM eternal right.
I applaud anyone that can do it with joycons, especially if you do it in handheld mode since thats the only time i had issues with the game.

I played on ps4, and now ps5, and i bought the switch version just to have the game portable. Sucks that so many people hate it, kinda feels like most modern tech has spoiled people on what to expect from games

I beat the game on the switch in just under 90 minutes. This has been the only thing I bragged about for two years now.
Now we need to see TAG 1 and 2 on the Nintendo Switch speedran I'm sure it will be perfectly just like the base game ;)

I play on switch lite and its not half as bad, you can quickswap,and you can probably do some skips
I completed the whole game on the switch and I was right now seconds old when I learned that there was a button to switch h weapons quickly, I though I just ad to change weapon quickly
If a Switch Pro/2 ever comes out this'll be super fun to play tho.
It is fun to play on normal Switch
as somebody who plays the switch, it is quite fun but the fun zone is hard to enter, i tend to use SSG and ballista or precision bolt and rocket launcher, as those are the only viable ways to have fun on the switch
you also need to edit some things to quickswap (been palying since oct 2022, level 162 currently, :D)

You can quick swap with joycons, I play it all the time on the switch out of a desire to not dedicate almost 100 gb to my hard drive instead of just 33 on my switch.

Heres the thing the people who played exclusivlely on the switch will be absolutely cracked when they play on a better console, an example is fortnite on switch some people only play on that version, but when they move to say a ps4 they will win 4 or 5 games in a row

Fairly certain the quick swap wasn't working because you were out of ammo.

As someone who plays DE on PC (KB/M) and Switch, the Switch version is pretty good all things considered.
You can quick swap on switch, it’s just when you were trying you had no ammo for your shot gun

You could have fixed your Joycons by getting replacement hall effect analog sticks - or even using a KingKong Pro 2 controller that has hall effect sticks built in…just saying it would have been less torture 😅

I am currently playing through this game on switch (I completed the campaign, running the dlc) and I have not experienced any of these bugs. I can quick swap, I have never experienced extreme fps drops, etc. Also, to fix the random joycon not responding bugs get a pro controller.

It not working properly on default hardware is the issue, you should not need special controllers for it.
