Papas and tortillas 😊 Every meal I would make my pops 2 home made tortillas , sometimes he would just want salsa de molcajete , frijoles de la olla and a little piece of queso. Priceless memories 🥰 lo extraño much apá❤
Can I just saw.. that it warms my heart to know there are kids out there that turn into men ( and women) and value the time they spent with dad ( moms)!
It's awesome to see a parent rub off and show how to use your hands and your heart to provide for others. Love it. I'm gonna make 8'' on my big boy press!
@@frisco9568 I’ve gotten ugly looks from Mexicans when I tell them I’m Salvadorian & eat yellow tortillas. I just thought it was interesting to see him make the yellow tortillas.
@frisco9568 tortillas came from the indigenous ancestors in Mesoamerica. Mesoamerica expands from Central Mexico all the way to Central America. Mexico is a country that came after colonization that included only part of Mesoamerica. It's sad that nationalism makes people want to be gatekeepers of the rich, indigenous roots that both Central/Southern Mexicans and Central Americans share.
Just a tip. If you flatten the balls a little with your palms, you get fewer cracks on the edges. Also, your masa balls can be a bit bigger for larger tortillas. They sell white and yellow corn masa. I mostly prefer white.
I agree with this tip but I’d also recommend a tiny bit more water and cover with a damp paper towel while cooking the tortillas so they don’t dry out ❤
My mom would make us corn tortillas for dinner and flour for breakfast with potatoes and bacon. Have you ever made atole with that flour. Mom used to make it for us , it was so good. She would cook the dry maseca until it was brown then add milk, cinnamon and sugar.
Thank you Jose, I think you gripped all of our hearts when you said (( Thank you Papa )) , I still thank my mom and dad to this very day For putting a guitar in my hands when I was a little boy, now I'm 70 years old and beyond thankful for the gift of allowing my internal song to be brought forth.
I've been really wanting to get a tortilla press for at least a couple of years. Thanks for pushing me to actually go pick one up.Nothing better than freshly made tortillas.
Cooking is at the core of all of human society, whether it be bread, meats simmered in a pot the whole day, fish baked in salt and clay, whole corn ears thrown straight into the fire, and tortillas made with love, it is something everybody can rally around and just enjoy. This made me think about why I like making breakfast foods more than anything else. Back when my mom was working nights I'd never get any alone time with dad since I had 2 sisters. But they would always sleep in as late as possible so I got to help dad mix the scrambled eggs and flip the pancakes. Thanks for bringing back some good memories m.

He also showed me how to make green and red hot sauces, i am happy to have a fathe like him as he is the reason why i want to he a chef. :]
My mom stopped making homemade tortillas because we'd eat them all the same day.😆
Thanks for this recipe and for telling your story too!
