Thank you very much for all the recipes and delicious meals and treats that you continue to share with all of your subscribers. I always look forward to your cooking films and tutorials. Easy to follow, affordable and tummy friendly! Hi to Rachel and Oliver. 😊
I've only just run across you channel, after following a lot of other cooking channels, I've finally found one that captures everything I need! You combine great recipes of delicious food with stunning visuals and simple instruction. Top that off with showing us the final product and simple plating solutions and you're onto a winner. I also like that you generally make small portions suitable for one or two people, it makes such a difference to so many other cooking shows out there. So thanks Byron, I'm going to run through your back catalogue and look forward to new recipes!
I'm being honest here. I can't cook whatever recipes you have shown cos I'm on a diet. But, even though I can't eat them, I don't really care cause watching people like you cook is somehow like a mind therapy for me. Best food therapy ever w/o the calories hahaha.
Byron, when I do lasagna with frash pasta, I don't cook the pasta, when you finish the dish in the oven, there enough time to cook the pasta! great dish!
"Lasagne" is just the plural form of "Lasagna". We say both (in Italy, I mean) but "Lasagne" is the proper form to use, grammatically. (I'm Italian, btw)
This was the best explanation I've seen regarding the big "Lasagna vs Lasagne" debate. For the flat, wide pasta and the dish made from such pasta, North American English speakers use lasagna. English speakers from outside North America usually use lasagne. The word comes from Italian, of course. In that language, lasagna is the singular noun and lasagne is the plural, but this does not carry over into the words’ treatment in English. Both the plural and the singular forms are usually treated as mass nouns, taking singular verbs. The word first appeared in English in the 19th century, but the dish did not become popular in English-speaking countries (the U.S. first, then elsewhere) until the second half of the 20th century. Both forms have had nearly identical trajectories, in terms of when they appeared and when they grew more common, on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Examples: Finish with chicken with peppers and sausage or a lasagna with farmers market vegetables, ricotta and tomatoes. [Los Angeles Times] One of my favourite dishes is Mum’s cabbage lasagne. [Guardian] This classic lasagna is the kind that defines lasagna in the USA: ruffle-edged noodles, creamy ricotta and mozzarella filling, and a rich tomato sauce. [The New Lasagna Cookbook, Maria Brucino Sanchez] The original intent was it be on foods that are risky after the date, perhaps a chilled lasagne. [New Zealand Herald] The lauded Canadian coffee-and-doughnut company launched fast-food lasagna bowls in October, and espresso drinks in December. [CBC] The lasagne is well worth ploughing through. Love how you simplify recipes while still adding enough ingredients to make them tasty and satisfying. And I love how you taste the end product. I am making this!!! Thank you...
Loving all the pasta recipes so far - they are all very basic but you have added your own little twist to it which makes it look very resturanty/chefy which is nice. More savoury recipes would be appreciated. Love the editing as it makes your vids a pleasure to watch!
Your videos are so comforting Byron and I love that you add your own touch with the videos by tasting your food at the end and especially when you & Rach both taste the dishes, awesome job with your channel I'm happy to see you're getting more views! :)
I love this. Can't wait to try it looks finger licking good! I'm loving these series of themed Vlogs Mr Talbott . Looking forward to the next. Take care & thanks for sharing!
Thanks for showing cooking in smaller portions. I just found your channel and I really enjoy your effortless approach to cooking and baking. Now I have to get myself a set of kitchen tweezers, and pull out my kitchen aide pasta making attachments.
I'm watching this nearly some four years after you made this video. You've really matured and upgraded your kitchen since then...I love watching your techniques. You're as much showman/performer as you are chef!
Oooooh, I never thought of adding pesto to my lasagne. Yuuuum! I'm Italian and I learned a pretty different recipe, but this looks amazing. I'll have to try it soon. Thanks for all the awesome recipes you teach us!
I've been watching your videos since two summers ago and I love you!!!! You are so underrated and amazing!! Maybe start doing some more breakfast recipes after pasta week? :)
First of all, your voice is very soothing... sometimes I just get lulled away by it.... Secondly, your videos always make me scream,"STOP!! I'M STARVING!! THAT LOOKS SO GOOD!!"
Wow, so easy to make my wife's fav.. She's been out of town for two months, I'm going to make this for our reunion dinner..I'll let you know how it goes !
you make it all look so easy... makes me wanna attempt everything you make, first the cronuts for christmas, the salted caramel french macarons, the linguine for dinner last week and now this!!!
I keep having to replay certain sections... you give the instructions like they're common knowledge, so they pass right through my head. Weird that that happens.
Good lasagna! Its quite similar to the one Chef John of Foodwishes made. I like how you blended his style of making the episodes about the food preparation with a little interaction with you at the end. Keep up this amazing work. I'm sure you are a great chef! Cheers!
Beautiful lasagna- love your version. This is going to seem like a crazy question- what kind of pepper grinder (the green one) are you using? I ask because it really puts out alot of ground pepper quickly, and I find that usually they don't. I like alot of fresh ground pepper. Thanks. Love your channel!
Wow, it looks great! I'm italian and I always call it lasagna. I'm really interested in the mixture you used instead of béchamel, I'll definitely try it! I love your channel, high quality recipes! Cheers
what about Japanese week...or asian fusion week sushi..sashimi...miso soup...how to roll a futomaki...green tea macarons..udon...tempura...zaru soba...sukiyaki..chicken teriyaki..cucumber sunomono
I'm pretty comfortable with sashimi, but I would need a lot of practice with my sushi rolling skills before I tried to demonstrate it on my channel. ;)
Hii I'm new to this channel but I'm addicted and I've been binge watching your videos and I love it! I was wondering what you use to shirt the olive oil out cause it looks interesting and it would be so amazing if you could send me the link to what ever it is so I can buy it. Thanks so much :)
*Druels* Not only do I love the professional quality of these videos, but I also love the way you do the taste test at the end. Love the first impression feel of what you are tasting. Its as though we are tasting it with you. Love it. I will try this recipe...nervously! I just don't know how much salt that is falling from your fingers. that scares me. That alone could make or break it.
I always stop watching before you start tasting because everything looks so good and if I saw you tasting it, I'm sure I'd die. Gaaahh! Keep up the delicious work! :'D
looks amazing! can I substitute the Ricotta with another cheese? I am pregnant for another 6.5 weeks and I don't think I can wait that long to cook this!
New subscriber and first watch! When I make lasagne I used about 8 pots (god knows how!), end up with cheese sauce in my hair and spend 20 minutes trying to think of the best way to layer it. I'm a good cook but I find it one of the most stressful things to make. You make it look like a casual affair! Gah! I'm not entirely sold on your layering or your ingredients but I frigging loved the video! Also if I made that size of lasagne..my boyfriend would ask what I was having for dinner. Go big or go home!
Aww man! Wish this video existed last week when I made Lasagna! All of the youtube recipes I found, required me to simmer the meat sauce for 2-3 hours which was a pain in the butt considering I WAS STARVING and just wanted to make a quick simple meal. I'll have to give this recipe a try next time! Thanks for the simple recipe :)
A normal bolognese sauce for the lasagne is enough. Before meat is Cooked through add some red wine. If you increase water content in your sauce you don't need to precook the sheets and Lasagna is going to be aldente. Also no ricotta.. But Bechamel. Some recipes in italia add also cooked ham, hard boiled egg slices, peas, but is mostly in South Italy where lasagne are "taller and richer of ingredients".
Right!! I am pretty sure this is in fact a rather americanized (?) version of the original lasagne. That pesto-cheese mixture is total news for me (I'm italian). But it probably tastes good anyway...
can't get wrong with pesto:) pasta with pesto have only small variances around italy. some add a boiled potato smashed in it to make the pesto sauce thicker and creamier. but being packed with flavours is better not to add anything else. plus i wouldn't cook pesto as its mostly 90% basil.
Definitely need to try this with the pesto! BTW, what type/brand of olive oil do you use? I have a bottle of Bertoli and it tastes HORRIBLE. I had to throw out an entire dish because of the taste.
thank you so much it was an amazing recipe!! i tried it out and I did everything that you said in video and followed the ingredients but the top of my lasagna didn't get nice and melty and golden. What do you think happened? maybe it was my oven?
This looks amazing!! Could you do a mexican style week or even a vegetarian week??? My bf is vegetarian and I am not I have the hardest time coming up with ideas to feed him! Lol
omg this looks sooo yummy! we always always use "bechamel" sauce in our lasagne combined with the bolognese sauce. but your cheese sauce sounds like a much better alternative!! gonna try this :) btw: we always use dried lasagne pasta sheets that we don't cook beforehand and they get "al dente" during the process of cooking in the oven :)
I really try to watch what I eat and "healthify" anything I can, thank you for giving me a great base idea! I think I'm going to give this a go, replacing the pasta with zucchini and the hamburger with ground turkey!
Hi, do you have a printable version for this recipe? I checked your website but couldn't find it there. /Btw. I made this lasagna as per your instructions and it turned out wonderful, so simple and light, thanks so much for sharing!
seriously, that looks delicious and Rachel is SO lucky to have you to cook for her, especially being a new mom, not worrying about cooking is awesome!

we must like torture lol cus I'm on a diet too! lol
sinful928 Yup twisted minds haha
23 people clearly doesn't know a thing about food... Its currently midnight and I am craving for lasagna!

great dish!
You're killin me with these recipes! I was gonna make my bf the lemon garlic fettuccini for dinner but now I'm thinking this would be AMAZING.
Try them all. hehe
Looking good buddy! Big question though… Is it Lasagne or Lasagna? We've never found out a definitive answer so we call it both!! Haha!
Lasagne!
"Lasagne" is just the plural form of "Lasagna". We say both (in Italy, I mean) but "Lasagne" is the proper form to use, grammatically. (I'm Italian, btw)
Hi I'm Italian and "lasagna" is the one rectangular noodle, "lasagne" is the plural. We use "lasagne" for the dish :).
I also think Lasagne is probably the way french people would say it...
This was the best explanation I've seen regarding the big "Lasagna vs Lasagne" debate.

You can use small curd cottage cheese.
Absolutely amazing video and I also love that you take the time to reply to so many comments :)
why did you boil fresh lasanga .-.
New subscriber and first watch! When I make lasagne I used about 8 pots (god knows how!), end up with cheese sauce in my hair and spend 20 minutes trying to think of the best way to layer it. I've never made Lasagna this way (with cheese filling). I always make it with bechamel sauce :)
It would be more tasty if u top of the lasagna with cheese as well as the meat filling so that it wouldn't be super crispy and maintain its creaminess
You made it look so easy and yummy. Gonna try this. Thanks
I noticed, youre starting to have a tummy. cute!! but hey love the delicious recipes you make for every dish!
