I love the endings of his video, the way he talks about the item that he made as if someone else made it and he is giving his opinion on it. It could have sounded like he is bragging about his cooking but it totally doesn't come off that way.
+hootypatootie when im baked i like these slow and chilled food videos with good camera work and chilled tunes but then also i like gordon ramsays fast videos when i want to learn a recipe in a reasonable amount of time :)
I always make the bad decision of watching your videos either late at night or when I'm too lazy to make anything. Right now, it's both but this looks so mouth watering... Bravo, Byron!
And now you know why when you go to a restaurant and buy a gourmet sandwich, it costs as much as it does. This is the kind of effort chefs will go to. Obviously in a restaurant they do things more in batches so in reality it doesn't take as long as this video, but ultimately the effort of preparing the food this way is the same. Want to make this sandwich and save time at home? Use leftovers from a roasted chicken you had the night before.
You should probably take some lessons in efficiency of movement if you think this takes three hours. All in all, it takes just barely over an hour to put it all together. Preparing the condiments and the bread takes ten minutes. Majority of the time spent would be on waiting for the chicken to come out of the oven.
Hi Byron, I read in your bio that you had worked as a chef at Inn of the Seventh Ray in LA. I loved that restaurant and miss it now that I no longer live in LA. They had an open faced vegetable sandwich with a cheesy kind of tahini dressing on their menu that was the bomb. I wonder if you could do a version of it. All your vegetarian fans would love it.
It's a lot of work but I made this a few weeks ago and it was absolutely delicious. Wouldn't mind doing it again. Perhaps one of the best sandwich taste ever
If you don't want to use fennel, is there something else that can be substituted, or just leave it out completely? Thanks. This looks absolutely delicious.
Just found you on the Daily Bumps byron, and so far all your recipes sound delish! looking forward to making that chicken salad sandwich! Thanks so much!
Hey Byron, I recently added you to my subscriptions. Even though I don't cook often, I do enjoy good food. And as even the most casual cooker than I am mostly purely out of necessity, I really enjoy watching your videos. I admire your craft, the quality of the presentation, and just the format you use to showcase your talents. Please keep doing what you do because it's a good way for me to wind down after a long day of work and watch you do your thing. Keep it up!
jsong21 Everything he said Byron:) With the exception of I DO love to cook!! lol!! New subbie here and thank you for sharing your time and your talent with me:) This recipe looks ahhhmazing!!
I would really wish to see some dessert videos from you😊 You have seriously made me become interested in cooking 😍 I've always just been a baking girl, and i really wish to become a pastry chef someday, but now i also like to cook too!
Put this together tonight. INCREDIBLE! I used leftover chicken from previous roasted whole chicken. Make no never mind though as I would personally cook chicken specifically to make this he next time. First time eating fennel too. Great job!
I just made this using rotisserie chicken from my local supermarket and it turned out great!! Thanks Byron - making me feel like a professional chef haha. When I have more time, I will try making the chicken myself.
I'd like to know is it absolutely necessary to oven roast the chicken after grilling it? I tried making the sandwich just by grilling the chicken.... Tourney out pretty awesome.... Other than that... Amazing recipe Byron ! Love your food!
Can you do a what's in my kitchen video Byron!? I'm interested to know what you keep in your kitchen and like what are your essentials you always keep in your cupboard. What is in all of your containers in the background?! :)
How do you get the bread to slightly toast on one side only? I got mine pretty much like yours but put them on a dark teflon baking sheet and both sides got slightly toasted. I will have to adapt your chicken for the oven. Yum.
looks yummy! i wonder if it makes a difference in the chicken if u grill before and bake after, or bake before and grill after? When we do a barbeque, we half bake the chicken first, and then grill it to give it that barbequed flavor, so that it doesnt just burn on the outside and be raw on the inside. What is your take on that Byron? What would make the chicken juicier in your opinion? love your recipes! and your style of filming...keep up the good work both of u and Rachel!
you should totally do a bbq series. especially since its the summer season and families are outside by the pool bbqing. just a thought! keep up the amazing videos
Its always nice to see a fancy pants chef using a good old fashioned grill. haha. love your channel Byron! Youve inspired me to try for culinary arts as a major, as i live to cook! looking forward to trying this one!
I favor this recipe because it's made with the dark meat of the chicken. It seems that most everyone in the history of making chicken salad has been "beating the drums" over the chicken breast in the chicken salads. Well now it's good to see that someone is changing that. I say "Thumbs up to DARK MEAT in the chicken salad". Great recipe!
I hate when people use forks to season meat. Your hands are your best tools and ensures the chicken is fully coated and well marinated. Thanks for not being afraid to get your hands dirty!! And the fab videos 😊👍
I love the endings of his video, the way he talks about the item that he made as if someone else made it and he is giving his opinion on it. It could have sounded like he is bragging about his cooking but it totally doesn't come off that way.
I remember watching this 7 years ago and drooling. I love this video so much that I come back to it every few years.
Commenting so you come back to it and make it and eat it this time 😂
@@SA-lx3yt I'm back!!!😂 I'll try to make it this time!
Oh man, can you imagine spending that much time making a single lunch? Just watching him slice the pears was too much
+hootypatootie you can always just go to McDonalds **Yum**
+hootypatootie My guess is that he slowed down his speed for the video. I really doubt that he takes that much time when he's not filming.
+hootypatootie when im baked i like these slow and chilled food videos with good camera work and chilled tunes but then also i like gordon ramsays fast videos when i want to learn a recipe in a reasonable amount of time :)
Couldn't agree more. I also was ok with the guitar riff until that ass clown started singing. I had to turn it off. How'd it turn out?
I mean if you enjoy cooking then it's okay. I personally like putting work and effort into food. Plus it gets my mind off of things. 💕
I always make the bad decision of watching your videos either late at night or when I'm too lazy to make anything. Right now, it's both but this looks so mouth watering... Bravo, Byron!
That hard bread no mercy for the roof of your mouth
I love you for this comment
Humphrey Bergquist razor blades with a side of razor blades yum!

'Hm, think I might want a chicken salad sandwich today...' *sets aside three hours*

Franzapanz It was just joking around. cx
But thanks for the tips...
lol
I saw that lemon seed fall into the fennel and pear mix!
that pear and fennel salad is easily my favourite part of this. The chicken salad looks absolutely amazing, but I'm loving that salad for sure!
I wish there was a button i can click for me to taste the food...
me too ;)
AND THE COOKER

I think radishes would be good in it too.
GulZoraKhan
Strike two...LOL. I'd choose fennel over radishes..haha!
GulZoraKhan
Ah, ok, that might work!
I would do dill bc it has a similar taste and is a spice
Maybe some thinly sliced white onions? They have a spice to it that I think would be great in this sandwich.
the creation of a sandwich, a beautiful moment.
Love this recipe, it is so multidimensional in taste! Thank you!
Just found you on the Daily Bumps byron, and so far all your recipes sound delish! looking forward to making that chicken salad sandwich! Thanks so much!
I made this for my husband today for lunch . He loved it!

You always make the most delicious recipes.. I think you need to do a contest where you come cook for the winner ;)
Byron Talbott can you give us a tour of your kitchen? it looks lovely and all that spices at the background, it's gorgeous!
Put this together tonight. INCREDIBLE! I used leftover chicken from previous roasted whole chicken. Make no never mind though as I would personally cook chicken specifically to make this he next time. First time eating fennel too. Great job!
🌺 Aloha Byron, Thank you for sharing this vlog! Great for small family gathering! ❤️
Too much work for a sandwich. LOL!
waters129 I agree to much work and I cannot stand fruit in my chicken salad...gag
When your feeling frisky Randy, try adding some sun dried toms (I also add a small amount of red or yellow
bell pepper:). Let me know what ya think.
and way too much cooking for a chicken leg.
I just made this using rotisserie chicken from my local supermarket and it turned out great!! Thanks Byron - making me feel like a professional chef haha. When I have more time, I will try making the chicken myself.
Favorite song and even better recipe! "So good"... LOL

Hey Byron Talbot what brand knives do you use? I've been trying what to get next
Another great one is diced chicken, chopped pistachios, spring onions and mayo. delish!
How do you get the bread to slightly toast on one side only? I got mine pretty much like yours but put them on a dark teflon baking sheet and both sides got slightly toasted. I will have to adapt your chicken for the oven. Yum.
I love when u just get right to the point in your vids

This looked really good! I thought you put onion in that bowl with the pear but the only fennel I've seen was dried fennel haha
Great video! More sandwhich recipes pls. Going of to college soon, so learning how to make a mean sandwhich would be great.
I favor this recipe because it's made with the dark meat of the chicken. It seems that most everyone in the history of making chicken salad has been "beating the drums" over the chicken breast in the chicken salads. Well now it's good to see that someone is changing that. Scallions and celery, yes!
Your cutting skills are amazing!
Did you go to culinary school?
I hate when people use forks to season meat. Your hands are your best tools and ensures the chicken is fully coated and well marinated. Thanks for not being afraid to get your hands dirty!! And the fab videos 😊👍

Can you make a princesstarta? I have been trying to find a video on how to make one, and I can’t find one.
