    Thanks John, Great interview. I'm loving Brian, the moment he pulled out the Sinclair/Wilson ultimate trimer, he had me. I thought I was the only one that spent the bucks on that set up. It wasn't cheap by the time you kick in all the extras for several different calibers.. I will say this, It is a very accurate Trimmer. When I build a my custom rifle I will look into the Giraud Trimmer. Hey Man , I'm really loving your series of reloading room confections. That was a great idea you came up with. For guys like me,, it's great info, we get to see what the other guys are using. It want be long before Brian is in the top 10 on the board. We will Pray for him, and you of course.

    ES varies because most of the time we dont shoot enough to get to the proper ES. If you think about it, your ES should be 3.5x of your SD 99.7% of the time. Thats why you watch your SD. Also ES is both to the left and right of SD so an ES of 30 could potentially only be 15 from your last shot and only an inch or two at 1000 yards - having a good SD and knowing how to shoot your conditions ends up being more important.

    John, I'm nicknaming you Wilson from Tim the Toolman's old comedy. We hear you, sometimes we see a slight profile, but up until Erik's video interview with you; I didn't think we'd ever actually see you. Love these reloading room confession videos. I think they are great for new reloaders. They can see that you don't need to spend $10k to get going.

      Thank you. I'm working on doing some more of these videos. It's actually harder than you'd think because a lot of people never feel like their stuff is good enough or they're embarrassed. But I'll get more of them going soon.

    Nice reloading room. I love the T-Slot configuration. I am another lover of the InLine Fab quick change. I was driven to it because I live on a boat and do my reloading in the pilothouse so everything has to be interchangeable. Some great ideas for my ultimate reloading room in this episode. Thanks for sharing.

    If everything else in the reloading process is consistent and the everything has been picked thru to sort the flyers out as best you can, the only thing thing left to consider is the powder itself or primer having some form of inconsistency in the coatings or something like that, and something weird in the ignition on it.

    ES fluctuations I suspect are measurement inconsistency, just like a large part of bullet impact variation are result of human error behind the rifle.

    Some of my brass is fired out of a gas gun and it comes out dirtier so I deprime and wash it before annealing and sizing. It really bugs me to go through the wash process a second time and I've thought about sizing before washing but I'm afraid to run dirty brass through my sizing die and take a chance on scratching the inside of the die. Is this an unfounded fear or do you agree with it.
    Also, if you size first do you let your sizing die deprime for you in one step rather than depriming as a separate step?

    The most likely error.with wide extreme spread is the chronograph and the assumptions built into the measurement process. Bottom line is that a much faster bullet will hit higher, therefore it was a false measurement.

    Do you know if his Rockler T-Track system has any flex when using the Co-Ax press? Also, is that the Craftsman bench? I have one and curios if he has the 1” butcher block top that it comes with, or if he replaced it for the T tracks.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 года назад +1

      Here’s what he said. “No flex in my bench/track but I made sure the track is seated perfectly flush with the top of the bench.
      My bench tops are 1.5” thick”

    I have one thought and one question.. Thank you for the video. Very informative. I'm not an expert by any means. Never shot in competition. Can't really afford it.
    But, I reload for hunting and shooting at a local range. I try to be as consistent as possible and as tight a groups as possible.
    He asked about the ES. I have no way of truly measuring accurately at every area of the bullet. But, my thought is. Can a bullet diameter be just a little smaller or more aerodynamic in one area or another? To the point that it releases enough friction to go faster? Or vice versa more friction to build a little more pressure to fly a little faster?
    You go over all aspects of reloading. One important aspect for me is. What stool, chair or other seating system do you guys use? I have a swivel stool but nee to find something more comfortable with a back support.
    After 3 to 5 hours of reloading my back is killing me.
    Thank you,
    Jeff D

      When talking about ES, we are unusually talking about velocity. Velocity various based on nearly everything. The case, the bullet, and most importantly, reloading process.

      @@graynotescartridgebox not to mention the tool that is actually measuring the velocity...

      @@graynotescartridgebox
      I know what ES is and how it works. Most people are wanting low single digits. I understand that you shoot a .220 group and one shot or two may be 20 fps faster than the rest yet it's not a flyer. It stays in your tight group.
      I use a Magnitospeed to chronograph all my shots.
      To explain my thought further.
      If all your bullets are measured and 9 out of 10 are exactly .284 and one is .283, since the .283 won't be as tight going down the barrel. Or maybe it's a tad more aerodynamic.
      Will the speed pick up because .001 less friction? Or on the other hand, .285 will be a smig tighter so may it will build a tad more pressure, and force it to go a tad faster?
      It's a miniscule change. But a thought and maybe a few feet per second more.
      Thanks,
      Jeff D.

    • @graynotescartridgebox
      @graynotescartridgebox 2 года назад

      @@jeffreydohl6036 the reason they don’t fall out of the group at close range is that the velocity isn’t significantly different. But you take the distance out, you’ll get verticals.

      Jeff, take a look at inline fabrication riser mounts (the mount that the red Forster coax is sitting on). It helps raise the press so that it doesn’t fatigue your back. All my presses sit high so I’m not hunched over.
