Yoda in The Clone Wars was teached how to became Force Ghost by accepting his own demons, accepting he cannot control everything in his life.
Qui-Gon Jinn guided him to that, and by the look of Kenobi Show, he also teached Kenobi about that.
And just to remind you, the predecessors of both Jedi and Sith are Dai Bendu. Sith and Jedi were once 1 peaceful religion but got hit by schism, divided into 2 radicial oppositions during Old Republic. What happens right now is getting these 2 churches back together into what once was.

    Great presentation.
I think you covered it when talking about individuals, beliefs, and institutions for those beliefs.
Though i think Grey Jedi first came from being out of line with the jedi order, when the order as a whole fell out of its original intent so you had people like qui gon. Joele from kotor ( i mean he left) Ahsoka like qui gon choices the light because it's the light.
Further damage came from late 90s and up until mid to late 2000s with games like jedi knight/kotor/force unleash and characters from those games. The dark side powers are nice and flashy.
The biggest champion of grey jedi revan. O boy this guy he never achieved true masterly "balance". Every character that attempts this goes insane. If revan had true mastery due to his time under the dark side influence his soul would never have shattered if you are going through the swtor timeline.
A banitie sith lord goes insane for trying to fuse jedi and sith teaching. Nearly destroying and costing the grand plan to be set back.
Legends jacen solo ends up a sith lord. After his vow of pacifism. Then slowly incorporating dark side ideology.
Out of all the people mentioned above failed at balance. The banitie sith lord was the acting to destroy the sith because he believed they were incompatible with the galaxy and force. Everyone else failed because they wanted control and their will imposed because they knew best.
A good study would be Luke's jedi order vs the old jedi order but even then cant think of anyone as a grey jedi or even the whole order being considered grey

I mean personally I find the idea of a grey Jedi to be completely misused. In fact I would say that we have yet to see a grey Jedi though honestly I think a better term is just a force user. Technically Qui Gon was the closest as he listened to the will of the force almost religiously however he still did adhere to the Jedi code and so I would still classify him as a Jedi. Same with Ahsoka and Barris they left the order but by the end of their archs it is clear that they both adhere to the ideals of the Jedi, just a time of the Jedi when a galactic war was not the biggest issue of the time.
