Thank you for such a great tutorial... I am a curly crocheter/knitter that loves making and wearing hats. Thanks to you I have found the way to combine the two 🥰.
Here's an emotional outburst: AAAAAAAAAAAH! You made that so easily. I am so looking forward to doing that tonight. I just ordered some satin so that won't be added until next week. I've been working on a pattern with odd instructions. I'll find a tutorial for that one. But in the meantime, I will do this one tonight. Mom (it's for her) and I play Scrabble every Thursday evening. Since we'll be playing for nearly 3 hours, I will have something to do when it's not my turn. I know that's TMI, but I am excited. Thank you so much for sharing. Just subscribed, too!
Thank you very much for this video! Was thinking about creating my own store with satin lined crochet hats but wasn't sure how to do it. Very much brings my confidence at s much higher place :) stay bless ❤
Thanks for such an easy to follow tutorial. My daughter has very curly hair and crocheted hats just flatten her hair. With the satin lining, that shouldn’t happen anymore. Thanks again. 😎
Me over here on a hair health journey with 2b/c waves because I fried my 3a/b hair over lockdown…but I got my Curlsmith and Aunt Jackie’s products arriving today and it’s so freakin’ cold in the UK right now so I’ll be making this for me and my little girl!
No outburst other than to say I love it!! I was looking for a technique that didn’t take the crochet part of the hat into the seam allowance. Thank you!
Hello I have a quick question. When I am crocheting my circle is curling. It is not flat like yours. PleAse tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you so very much!
LOL @ emotional outburst!!! First time viewer here, so pardon me if this has been addressed already, but, do you have a video showing how to do this without a machine. I'm a new crocheter and just made my first hat and I'd like to add satin without screwing it up.
We all have them 🤷🏽♀️😊 No, I don't, but I'm sure it wouldn't take much to hand stich a lining to your hat. You won't screw it up; just take your time. Those stitches can be ripped out and re-done to your liking. Best wishes 😊
@@ColorMePorcha Thank you so much because I was struggling with the k needle . It wasn’t flowing that well with me. Once again thank you and thank you for your prompt reply also. You made my day!
Thanks Nick! No, I placed the lining inside the hat shiny side out (the part that touches the hair), lined the two pieces up, pinned them and sewed them together via the crochet side. Hope that makes sense 😊
Would this work for a summer crochet chemo hat? I'm making one for a lady who doesn't want a holey crochet hat because she's afraid people will be able to see her scalp. I'm making hers out of a bamboo/cotton blend yarn for softness and breathability.
So I get about 1 inch for every 3 stitches... With decreasing to the 40 sts I ended up with a circumference of 18 inches... So for a larger size I suggest starting with 80 sts and decrease down to 60. Before you switch to I hook check for comfort, at the point you can add another inc round if you like. I hope that makes sense😊
Did you decrease the stitches in order for the hat to fold like that? Otherwise, I'm imagining you could simply continue going around like a rug. The video skipped from it lying flat, to it being in basket form. Also, I would have enjoyed seeing you weave in the ends with the needle since I've never used that before.
No, once you've gotten the hat to the widest width it will be around the crown of the head you continue rows with the same number of stitches around row by row and it will become a tube.
remarkably simple to sew into a knit thing! thanks for posting!
You're welcome!
Thanks, This was a great tutorial.....I'm going to try this technique/method in my next hat!!!
Best wishes ✨️
So cute and will make my curly hair happy!!
Thanks, best wishes ✨️

This is an amazing pattern! I'm on a journey to regain my wavy/curly hair and this is perfect!
Good work!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks! Need to crochet a new hat without drying out my hair. The lining is pretty simple to add after all. Cheers. ^^
Yep it was easier than I expected, best wishes on your project 🧶😊
I used the lining for my slouchy beanie and it would not fit my head after I sew it. Before I added the lining, the hat fit well on my head.

Appreciate the sub 😊
I have no idea what you are talking about in your instructions. But I love watching you work and the end result. Great job!
LOL! Thanks girl 😁
I will be doing this. Thank you for sharing.

Excellent instructions!
Thanks!
Perfect. Thank you 💙
You're welcome!
Very nice !
You are a life saver! Thank you for this video!
Glad I could help 😊
Good for my locs
Porcha, do you have a written pattern for this hat that I could download? I’ve watched the video at least 5 times. Love the pattern.
Hi Debbie! Thanks 😊
Sorry, I only have it written in my notebook 🤦🏽♀️
Great Job!
Thanks!
Great tutorial!!! Thank you!!
Thanks 😊
Is the fabric stretchy?
Hello I have a quick question. When I am crocheting my circle is curling. It is not flat like yours. PleAse tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you so very much!
Hi! Sometimes the biggest cause of curling can a about your tension being too tight, using a bigger hook might help. Best wishes ✨️

@@ColorMePorcha ok, I'll give it a try! Thanks for the encouragement lol, fingers crossed! :-)
Thank you so much!
Hello I was wondering do you have a pattern for Beanie hat also. Thanks
Hi! No I don't have a written pattern for this, I just made a few notes for myself and put it in the video.
How much fabric did you use? A yard?
Nice job! Did you use stretch fabric for the lining?
Hi, thanks!
Yes I did, for me it adjusts better for all my different dos 😊
Hello To make it bigger I just add extra row for example 9 hdc and 2 in the next am I correct?
Yep, you're right!
Thank you 😊
Hello again. Quick question. If Choose to use the J needle first would that ruin the look of the slouch. And don’t use the K at all?
No I don't think it will, so I'd go for it!
@@ColorMePorcha Thank you so much because I was struggling with the k needle . It wasn’t flowing that well with me. Once again thank you and thank you for your prompt reply also. You made my day!
You're welcome 😊
Hello I notice that with each row you did not do a slip stitch you just continue until you reach your stitch marker am I correct?
Yes, you're right
Thank you ! VERY VERY VERY MUCH!!
Great tutorial. Quick question, after you sew the two pieces together, do you turn it right side out? I’m confused.
Thanks Nick!
No, I placed the lining inside the hat shiny side out (the part that touches the hair), lined the two pieces up, pinned them and sewed them together via the crochet side. Hope that makes sense 😊
Thank you for this video!! Can this same technique be used for earwarmers and bun beanies?? Im going to try this today!
No problem! Yes this technique can be used in many ways, if you can crochet the shape you can cut the fabric to match. Best wishes with your project 😊
Can’t wait to try this out! 😄
great video........what type of satin did you use?
Thanks! It's a stretch satin fabric that I picked up from JoAnn's.

I think it would totally work... I love working with bamboo yarn!
Very, very nice.
Thank you!
I don't see a gauge for this project. Am I just missing it?
This is beautiful, how did you get into crocheting?
Thanks!
It looked interesting so I taught myself years ago.
@@ColorMePorcha that’s so cool
Fabulous! Where did you get the yarn?
Thanks! I got it from Michael's.
Thank you so much. I am going to attempt to make this. 😊
Best wishes ✨️
Is it possible to hand sew the lining for both parts. I don't trust my sewing machine skills but this is a must need for me this winter 🥺
Yes! Just take your time, and if you mess up, pull out your seam ripper 😊
How many stitches would would you add for larger hats?
So I get about 1 inch for every 3 stitches...
With decreasing to the 40 sts I ended up with a circumference of 18 inches...
So for a larger size I suggest starting with 80 sts and decrease down to 60.
Before you switch to I hook check for comfort, at the point you can add another inc round if you like.

@@ColorMePorcha I think I understand, thank you!
You're welcome, let me know if you need anything else
What weight number is that yarn? Trying to find an alternative brand/blend. Is it a 4, 5, or 6?
Bulky 5

Is there a written pattern?
No I didn't write it down.
Loveeee
Slow down just a bit at the beginning 😊
